Xml :: Flash AS3 : XML And Undefined Values?

I'm using YQL to try and find band photos for a project I'm working on. If an image is found, it is returned in an XML response, and my flash code posts it. But if one is not found, I'm not quite sure how to tell flash not to do anything. Here's my code:

var groupPhotoXML = new XML (e.target.data);
var imgRef = groupPhotoXML.results.img[0].@src;[code].........
An unsuccessful attempt traces out as empty.

I'm trying to make a login function that receives the username and password as arguments, does all the proper URLRequest and URLLoader stuff inside it, and retrieves some values from the database. Then, it puts those values inside an object (a little associative array really) and returns them. I've put 'trace' sentences all over the function, and it seems to be working without a problem and is retrieving the right values from the database. However, when I try to assign the returned value with something like:

I've gotten these sliders to work but can't get the output values to add up. For instance, depending on the values for slider 1, 2 and 3, I need the total to show up in a separate text box. I keep getting a NaN message in the text box.Here's the code I have so far:

I've been getting an 'undefined' response and no email sent upon sending. It USED to work but then I added a few fields and broke it somehow. I copied everything perfectly, and know my text field var's are named correctly, so the fault lies somewhere here.

how to post some variables to a URL. Let's say the user has played a Flash game, packaged as an EXE or SWF embedded in HTML stored on the user's computer, not from some webpage, and would like to register the score by completing a simple form with just an e-mail address and pressing a button.
Would it be possible to do it even thought the Flash application is not on an active webpage?

I need to be able to compare the number of whole days between two dates in ActionScript, is this possible? I'd like to test if one date is 7 days or less after today, and if so is it one day or less (if it's before today this also counts).The workaround I have in place is using the .time part of the date field:

As I say - this is only a workaround, I'd like a permanent solution to allow me to check the number of whole days between 2 dates. Is this possible?

I cross with a problem that I do not understand why is happening. I a AS3 and php getting the results from the database. The php is working fine since I test it. but the request from the flash give me a result of "undefined" .I have a text area on the flash file in which is supposed to show the results from the php. This code so far:

This is not your typical 1120. I know better than to have buttons/MCs without instance names on the timeline. Nope, this problem resides in a I timer I built from script I found online. The undefined property is related to the timer class delay I want to implement.
What I'm trying to achieve is have the user click the next button, wait 1 sec., then scroll through the next content. I have the code sitting inside a conditional statement to reduce the amount of code.
One thing to note, I am using TweenLite for the transitions, if that makes any difference. Now, the following code will show you the timer only working work one next position. I want to eventually add this to the remaining next position and all the previous positions so that there will be a slight delay when scrolling through the content.

when i run my flash file (test it) in the output panel i get the following error
TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties. i read some where, that this was caused because one of the variables is set to null. after looking at my code i found out that the following line was causing this output
arrSelectedIndex[i] = -1;
this is later on used as the selected index in a group of radio buttons.

A flash application in flash builder is currently throwing this error:
ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable is not defined.
Not telling me which variable it is that's not defined, but note there are two spaces between 'variable' and 'is'. and it gives me some more feedback as to what lines of code are having trouble, but those lines are all within the actual flash/mxml packages and not any of the files in my own project.
I suspect it's related to my php data/services, but I don't see what variable would not be defined. I'm not very familiar with debugging, so I'm not sure how to determine with it where the problem is cropping up.

I'm trying to change a static variable in the class's constructor. At the start I have:
public static var mainReference:Main;
public static var timerReference:Timer;
public var timer:Timer = new Timer(1000);
This is so my static functions can access main and timer. At Main's constructor I have:
mainReference = this;
timerReference = timer;
The problem is, the first gives no error when I compile it, but the second tells me Access of undefined property (timerReference).

For my PhD thesis, I'm making an interactive point-and-click game in Flash that's based on my artwork using AS3 in Flash CS3. I'm an illustrator and wasn't expecting to be doing any coding during my PhD, or ever, reallythis is a n00b mistake.I was building the final of my seven environments, went to test it and found that none of the interaction was working (apart from the skip intro button I had included in the first frame). The way each menu is set up is that there are a number of objects (named instances of movie clips) scattered around each environment, that call up an external .swf when clicked. There are also event listeners attached to each of these movie clips, that display a speech bubble when moused over.
I have used this code in six other menus, the only difference is that the names of the instances, external swfs and labelled frames are all different. I first thought that there might be a conflict with the code in the first frame, so I greyed it out in order to make Flash only run the code that follows the intro animation. This time, I am getting the error message "access of undefined property loaderRunning" which has me totally confused, since all I did was copy and paste the code in from another (fully working) menu and change the relevant names. I've tried building the menu up from scratch again, and I get the same error. I have checked my instance names, made sure I've labelled all my frames and nothing is working. I just can't understand why it's worked before and not here--I've built the menu in the exact same way I did the othersHere is my code (it's used over and over with a different instance name,for each interactive object, so I'm only including everything it takes to get one instance to be interactive.):

I want to create a Flash movie which displays four numerical values. I am a teacher and the four numbers are pupil teampoints gained during the week in class. Each friday I want to open the Flash movie and the four numbers to be displayed with a bit of music in the background for dramatic effect!I want the Flash movie to retrieve the four numbers from a txt file located in the same folder as the movie. I want this as other teachers at my school will then be able to come along and change the totals without having to fiddle around in Flash, and also so that the values can be entered before the children arrive in class. Is this possible? I think there are functions in Flash that retrieve information from txt files but I am not sure!
