I have researched actionscript buttons for a project and came across a really nice one, which uses XML. However, the action generated by releasing the button opens a webpage, which is not what I want. I want it to run a function.I have tried several different things to no avail..The actionscript is this:

Again, this works fine, i just want to have the image take up the "white" space on the stage area, very similar to an IFrame.

I have an an array of objects. I populate the datagrid from the array. The nmber of columns in the datagrid is fix i.e.5 and the first column always shows serial number (0,1,2,3,4). I have a link button called 'CLEAR' in the last column of the datagrid.

Not deleted, only cleared to insert data again. Also, the serial number (0,1,2,3,4) should not be cleared, nor deleted. How to do this ?

View 3 RepliesI have a function that has a site pop up when the user clicks on a button. This works well except it goes until the frame that has the command stop(). Is there any way to have this function continue on, even when that frame says stop? Or is there a different command besides stop that allows this function to work up to and including that frame?
The stop() command is on frame 90.
I tried gotoAndPlay(88) and it gives the user the mouse hand, but nothing pops up.
In the Actionscript 3.0 Language and Components Reference > All Classes > TextField Class > Properties > htmlText HTML tags supported table, the description of the anchor tag has this sentence: "You can use the link event to cause the link to execute an ActionScript function in a SWF file instead of opening a URL." I don't understand how to do this. Can someone tell me how to do this? Or, can someone point me to an example or reference that explains how to execute an ActionScript function in a SWF file using the link event?

It makes the symbol (logolink) a link (changed the mouse cursor to a pointer), but it kills my animations and errors out saying (all on line 4...the function callLink line): "expecting leftparen before colon", "expecting identifier before leftbrace", and "expecting rightparen before leftbrace".I tried a few things like adding an unused parameter, and a couple other things (trying to satisfy the above errors), but then I get "call to possibly undefined method addEventListener through a reference with static type Class"

Basically I have a movieclip with a load of buttons in it which will all eventually lead to different movieclips. When a button is pressed I want a movieclip to appear and play. The movieclip is on the stage.The problem i have is that when i click the link, this error message appears in the Output tab:

Is it possible in Flash to set a hyperlink (in a textField), and then have that link run a function within Flash (not Javascript)?I know one can easily launch a URL via a text link, or even run a Javascript function, but what about a function in Flash?
View 2 RepliesI am creating a gallery type site, I am loading xml data externally creating duplicate movie clips and it all works fine, my only problem is I want them to go to a URL, I have one of the nodes with the URL and in my actionscript I am calling a function to getURL on press, the problem is on each separate movieclip it links to the URL of the last movieclip in the stack.

I have a problem: I'm trying to have a dynamic text box (htmlText) with a number of links (all dynamically generated themselves) within. I need some way that the html link can detect the user mousing over/off of it and fire off a function (to bring up a tooltip elsewhere on the interface, specifically). Is this at all possible in ActionScript 1.0?

View 7 RepliesI bought a flash template last week and have more or less being able to modify it to the way I wanted, its 95% done & I've had to make a couple sacrifices due to my lack of flash knowledge.
The blog on the website is now on a subdomain (I'm using wordpress for the blog), I also had a registration email form on my current site which is now gonna be on a seperate html subdomain too.
My problem is that I have one page on the flash template that I wanted to use for the blog but as that's not easily done. Instead of using the button to open an empty page, is there anyway I can redirect it to the Blog on the subdomain & open it in a blank window/tab?

Like so: ive made a pretty simple and nice layout i plan to use for all pages with some images an so on .Now ive made lots of buttons wich all opens in a timeline nice and slow (not to slow). On the index page i have a menu called "treatments" wich requir some room. I want to make a button called "treatments" wich can open and collaps to 3-4 minor buttons wich then again can link to diffrent pages describing different treatments. Now i need the treatment button to open up the 3-4 minor buttons one by one smooth(tweened with the alpha slider) with same frame rate as the other ones on the page and collaps again.

I'm using Flash CS5. I've used the recommended code on code snippet, I've used codes that were recommended and I've tweaked it, but it still not opening my pdf. View 4 RepliesI am trying to modify a template that I have:There are 6 menu buttons on the top, they have rollover animation effects, as well as animation click effects. It did not come scripted with the action of which page to load when you click on them. The way the template was written, it uses the same script for all the buttons. What should I stick into cause it to load different webpages, (index, index1, etc..) based on which menu button it is over the current script for the buttons are as follows:This is on a sprite, not a button object.There are multiple menu buttons of the same sprite. (each one just changes the num = ___) For Example:
