Ive just completed the Kirupa XML Slideshow today and have it all working well. But i cant figure out how to fade out the previous image as the next image fades in.

I have a slide show script, which works, but as of now, the image will completely fade out before the next one fades in.What I want is for the next image to start fading in before the previous image completely fades out.

I curenttly making a simple online portfolio using flash (as3). Each piece of work i'm displaying resides within a mc on the main time line, and within that each piece of my work lives in its own keyframe, so the site has a basic 'mc.gotoandstop("label")' navigation. I can get my images to fade in using a AS tween, but I want to get the previous image/piece of work to fade out before jumping to the selected key frame and fading in the selected work. Currently, the innards of my button function reads something like:
tween (fadeout)
gotoandstop
tween (fade in)
but this clearly not the right way to go about it? Is there a way of putting slight delay after the fade out tween in the function? To let it fully fade out before fading in the new work?

im working on an xml based slideshow. Random images loading (only ones and no repeated image) and fade in-out effect. That�s working fine, but the problem is that when animation starts it does it on white screen and then fades in to the first image. How can i keep my slideshow working the same way but starting with the first image already on stage (without fade in)? My Code:

I'm trying to create a movie clip with images that will slide from one image to another using next and previous buttons. I want a sliding effect. For example on this site: [URL] The right side large image you can slide the image by using the arrows. That's exactly what I want...but in flash.

I have an image gallery but I can't seem to get the previous image removed. I have two functions:

But in some way not the previous image is removed, but the one before that. Annoying, because if image 1 is larger than image 2, image 1 stays on the background. It is only when loading image 3 the first image is removed from the stage.

I'm fairly new to ActionScript 3.0 so forgive me if this question is easy, but I'm having issues with my portfolio slideshow. I have a few thumbnails and when you click on one the image slides in from the right. That part is fine. i have a set of images which i've converted to mcs and have given them all different instance names. The first image motion tweens to the right of the screen via actionscript and then the next one will motion tween from the bottom of the screen to the top and then the image after that will go to the right of the screen and next one goes to to the top, and so on. I have this actionscript for the first image,

I need the next image to start motion tweeing up to the top of the screen right when the first image starts fading out. Then when the second images starts fading out the next image is already motion tweening to the right of the screen and so on. Once every image has run through its tween everything repeats. Is there any way of doing this?

I am creating a little flash movie, nothing major and I want something to happen. When a user rolls over a button, a image fades in somewhere else on the stage, possibly below the button being rolled over. Then when its clicked (the button) the image (possibly) expands and text is showed while the background is faded.

I have a single frame file that is a portfolio viewer. When I rollover a thumbnail an image shows up in my main_mc. This works fine, but am trying to get the image to fade in to make it a little nicer.I've spent countless hours already searching forums and testing code, but it doesn't work. I have created a pie preloader(preloader.zip) which is working fine. Same preloader I am trying to incorporate in a xml based slideshow(slideshow.zip) to show image loading process but some how I got stuck. I am new to flash. Suggestions are welcome.
1. How to solve the problem of preloader2. Is it possible to integrate everything in a movie clip (including AS). I mean no AS on main time line but inside the movie clip. It would be much easier then to to create multiple slideshows by duplicating mc and changing the xml file.

I have a tweened movie which plays on a loop. A click on the image area stops the movie and the image fades nicely from alpha 100 to alpha 0. A second click brings the image back immediately to alpha 100 and the clip continues. I would like the movie image to fade back in from alpha0 to alpha 100 before it re-starts; (the reverse of the fade out). At the moment the re-appearence of the image is a crude jump. So far my ill informed tinkering has not worked.

I have a movie clip (mc) with the alpha set to 0 (invisible). if you click on the stage it sets the mc's alpha to 0.4, before fading to alpha 0 again in 1.5 seconds. Here the code:

tweenOut = new Tween(mc, "alpha", Regular.easeIn, mc.alpha, 0, 1.5, true );
Basically you click on the stage, the mc appears and then fades away within 1.5 seconds. Here's my problem...
If I click on the stage again before the fade has completed, nothing happens. I have to wait the full 1.5 seconds before I can do it again.
Anyone know how I can make this work irrespective if the previous fade out has finished or not?

I'm in the middle of building a simple flash slideshow, using alpha fades between images. I have three layers, the first one being text, on the timeline for each layer/image. The other two layers are images, small footprint (sized and optimized in photoshop, each less than 100k). When I hit the Enter key it will play on timeline but the preview and fla file just won't start, hung up on the first frame.

(I'm using flash CS4.) I've created a movie for my home page, which can been seen at: [URL] In the movie first there are pics of a building, then my drawings of a building, and finally words that fade in. This consists of three jpegs that I turned into symbols, to get them to tween. The problem is when the words fade in. I tried doing this two different ways, and only one worked, but there is a flaw in it. To get the words to fade in I copied the drawing jpeg and put the words on it, and then saved it as a separate jpeg. Unfortunately, the tweening out of the jpeg #2 and the tweening in of Jpeg #3 with the text on it don't sequence perfectly so you will notice that the center building fades out a little bit as the words fade in. My second attempt was to make a symbol of just the text in the proper location, while not using a background, but when I converted it into a symbol, it took on the same size background as the stage, and thus covered up the everything as it tweened in, and I was left with just text at the end of the movie. ...I know I've probably worded this poorly, because I don't know all the flash terminology yet. .

I want to use a next/previous image thing, which loads the next image from an array into a second movieclip(which will be hidden)... then swap the visiblity of mc_1 and mc_2 ...attach a preloader and stuff.its basically an effort to save some peoples on 56K dial-up lines.so it alternates between mc_1 and mc_2 (which is the easy bit)

On the timeline I have a bunch of buttons which point to different frame labels with images and content. Is there a way that I can make the images fade so that no matter what order a button is clicked, the images will still fade in/out from the previous image?

I would like to make a sort of menu where the buttons fade when the user moves the mouse over the object/button. The problem is that the fade is looping over and over again while the mouse is over the object. how I control the fade effect, so it only fades in once when the mouse is over the object and then fades out when the mouse leaves the object.

I'm having problems with my AS2 and XML (on Flash 8). I finally figured how to create a simple slideshow which incorporates a "Next" and "Previous" button...but what i'm struggling with is: "How to click on the 'next' button so that the existing image scrolls to the left as the new image from the right moves to the center. And the opposite for the 'previous' button". Currently I have the existing image disappearing (alpha 0) and then the new image scrolls to the center from the right - which is not what I want to do.
