ActionScript 3.0 :: Image Flickers Quickly Before It Fades In
Mar 27, 2010
im going through something that is driving me crazy.... i have the following code:
[Code]...
what it is supposed to dois the images fade in, then a mask animation loops... but what is happening is that the image flickers really quick, then it fades in... not sure why this is happening.....
Ive just completed the Kirupa XML Slideshow today and have it all working well. But i cant figure out how to fade out the previous image as the next image fades in.
Ok ... so i think this is related to bitmap caching however the "this" is a dynamically created object that then dynamically has a .jpg placed inside of it. I want the object to disappear on rollOver and go back to normal onRollOut. But i can't figure out how to assign bitmap caching to the dynamic jpeg or this.movieClip as they are both dynamic.
I am creating a little flash movie, nothing major and I want something to happen. When a user rolls over a button, a image fades in somewhere else on the stage, possibly below the button being rolled over. Then when its clicked (the button) the image (possibly) expands and text is showed while the background is faded.
I have a slide show script, which works, but as of now, the image will completely fade out before the next one fades in.What I want is for the next image to start fading in before the previous image completely fades out.
This is my first post here and it my be a hard one to understand? Overview I have four buttons on the main stage (info) (help) (bio) (main) When you Rollover a button it fades to another color/when you rollout it fades back to the original color I have a script that does the color change because I do not want to use motion tweens. Here is what I did I made a 2 frame MC named infoMC In the 1st frame of the MC I made the word (info) a nested MC and attached the color change code to it. The 2nd frame of the MC Is the same as the 1st frame but I revesed the color change
all i want to create is a loader that fades in an image using the aplha channel. my movie clip instance is called mc_01. whenever I simulate a download it shows nothing. anyone know what im doing wrong? Coded on Action layer frame 1 of scene named "preloader"
stop(); mc_01._alpha = 1; this.onEnterFrame = function():Void { var loadedData:Number = this.getBytesLoaded(); var allData:Number = this.getBytesTotal();
I have the following script on a movie clip which fades the clip in when your mouse is over the MC and fades it out when your mouse moves off. It works fine, but it "flickers" when its faded in all the way. How can I stop that?
I have a basic mouseover in my flex application which changes an image onmouseover and changes it back onmouseout using the code mouse Over "functionToChangeImageSource()" and another one to mouseout. It works fine when you slowly mouse over and out, however if I quickly move the mouse over it, it occasionally stays on the mouseover image and the mouseout function doesnt appear to kick in. Is there anything I can do to fix this, or does anyone have any ideas why its happening? Also, I've tried the rollOver and rollOut instead but it has the same problem.[code]I'd imagine you're correct about the mouseover event not completing before mouseout is but how to I fix this?
I have an accordian which contains a repeater. That repeater takes an array as a dataprovider. The array in turn gets data from an XML file, on server, via HTTPService.
Now, data in the XML file gets modified after sometime frequently so I send the HTTPService after every 5 secs by using a Timer.
Problem: When the timer timesout after 5 secs, HttpService is sent, data is retrieved and showed in accordian but each time this happens, the accordian flickers. Thus, the flickering happens every 5 sec which is quite irritating.
Can I somehow remove the flickering to make the accordian update seemlessly? If it's the problem with accodian, will it persist if I use a DataGrid in place of accordian?
i have the following code: <mx:Repeater id="user" dataProvider="{data}"> <mx:VBox styleName="repeaterVBox"> <mx:Text text="{user.currentItem.a}. {user.currentItem.b}"
[Code]....
the dataProvider 'data' updated itself every 3 seconds, so every 3 seconds that is a flicker of some sort, i see for a really short time an empty area and then it gets redrawn again. is there a way to make the update somewhat faster ?
I have a curious problem with fullscreen mode in a [beta] game I designed and coded. When I launch the SWF, it works perfectly. Once I embed it in html however, it only flickers into fullscreen for a second and then back out again. It doesn't seem to be a browser issue as it happens in both Firefox and IE7 on my Vista machine.
The game is here:
Spectacle
Fullscreen is toggled by hitting the "F" key.how to get it to stop flickering?
I have just created an animation of moving text, which I wrote in flash pro and converted to symbols then animated.
When i play it with the play button on the timeline it plays beautifully. However when I publish it as an swf file for a split second on some of the words theres a slight white flicker. As in a horizontal line that quickly flashes up across some of the letters.
Kindly check the website [URL]. The Flash banner on the top has links like Home, Services, etc. on Mouse Over of it, it flickers. But when we navigate it to other pages such as Services, it wont. It happens only in Home Page.
I have created a custom cursor script which uses the mouse. Hide command as well as startDrag(). When I move the cursor around it flickers terribly. How do I remedy this?
I'm having a problem making my FlvPlayback go full screen. In FF it works great but in IE (8) it will only work once! the next time, it will flicker and return to normal state.
I'm having a flickering issue with a text control. Here's the context: I have a title which is represented by a Text control (no Label cause it needs to be able to be displayed in several lines). When the user rolls over the title, the text has to be underlined. What I have done: I've set listeners to the title's rollover and rollout events to something like this:
I have a flash movie and lavalamp menu on the page, when moving the mouse over the menu the flash flickers, and the lavalamp animation is slow and not smooth.[code]
I have a Main class (which extends Sprite) that adds my Loader as a child. The Loader processes a continuous stream of images from a server (think MJPEG). I create a socket, add a ProgressEvent.SOCKET_DATA listener, and put the data into a local buffer. If I have a complete frame, then I call loadBytes() on it, and go back to waiting for the next chunk of data to arrive.
This works very well. However, if the mouse is moving when the image is being updated, then the control flickers slightly. But if no frames are being received, then there is no flickering. Do I need to double-buffer the image? If so, where do I do this? The Loader doesn't seem like the right place.
I have a flash swf file which is published as adobe air file because im using the FileStream libraries. It seems that when i remove the FileStream code the flash swf file works on the HTML page but when i revert back to add the FileStream libraries and code the flash flickers in IE 8 and Mozilla displays a Blank screen. Why is this? Here is the code:
import flash.filesystem.*; var url:String = "C:/New Folder/image.mp3"; var file:File = new File(url); var fs:FileStream = new FileStream(); fs.openAsync(file, FileMode.APPEND);
I'm trying to create a preview of which tower is selected for my game. I've set all of the 'background' of the level up with a class called EmptyBlock, which has buttonmode set to false. I then added event listeners to each one (this.addEventListener( MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, onMouseOver ); ) for both MOUSE_OVER, and MOUSE_OUT. Inside my onMouseOver function, I'm manipulating the x/y position of a MovieClip, and setting it's visible status to true. Inside the onMouseOut function, I'm setting the x/y position of the MovieClip to -25, -25 (Offstage, just hiding it from view), and setting it's visible status to false.
However, when I run the code and hover over this class (EmptyBlock), the MovieClip I'm manipulating flickers. It continuously flickers and doesn't stop. I tried creating the MovieClip's class and removing it (Creating in OnMouseOver and removing it in OnMouseOut) but that too flickered. Traces say that it's running the MouseOut constantly while the MovieClip is over it but not when it's not. What am I doing wrong here? I'm probably making a stupid mistake but...
On a second, smaller note: Once this MovieClip's class is created, it obviously intercepts the clicks I want to go to my EmptyBlock class. Is there anyway to forward the click onto my EmptyBlock class? The MC is not a child of my EmptyBlock class (but it is added as a child after the EmptyBlock class).
I have 100+ of the same movieclips on the stage at the same time, all positioned differently.i'm getting really tired of clicking on one of them, then clicking in the instance name box then typing "i65", then clicking on one of them, then clicking in the instance name box then typing "i66"...
is there anyway flash can fill this information in for you? or a plugin anyone's heard of? this isn't really an actionscript question, I'm not so fussed about selecting the different movieclips based on getChildAt or any of that stuff, I'd just really like a faster way of assigning instance names.
Is there a way to duplicate objects, like lines across the screen quickly without using AS3 at a fixed distance apart? I tried using Ctrl+D but it has a distance for 7 pxl apart. I want to change that to 1 pixel. Is there a way to change this setting or a tool in flash IDE to perform duplicating quickly?
Any tips or methods(encryption, plugins etc) to load flash files (i.e. swf) as quickly as possible at the client side? consider files size is between 5MB - 10MB....
I've got an animation (arrows following paths on a map), and I need it to repeat about 10 times per second, so that there's an endless stream of arrows following their paths.
I have a button with animations on scroll-over. How can I 'duplicate' this button, as I want several more buttons with the same template, just different text (and different functions called)?
Sorry for the foolish question, but the Duplicate button is frustrating, as when I change the text in the new button it changes the text in the other button. It's like I'm changing a template.
Perhaps it is a misunderstanding of symbols? I believe symbols are basically template classes...is there a way to generate a new instance of a button symbol?
It seems the drawing API can quickly slow down a movie, just by drawing a bunch of static (unanimated) lines on the screen. In contrast to movieclips, of which it can handle thousands without slowdown. Makes me wonder why it doesn't just handle drawn lines as movieclips? Why does the linedrawing become slow so quickly, and is there any way to prevent this from happening?I written a quick test, and it appears to slow down, while drawing, after just 300 lines, while only after 2000 mc's the fps start to dip slghtly, while placing them. I also tried drawing every line in it's own layer but it remains much the same.
I have a custom swf player, in which content is preloaded. Some of the third-party Flash content (from Captivate) I load in the player needs to be unloaded and loaded again in order to completely reset its content (rewinding, going to frame 0, does not work). Does anyone have an example of a good way to do this, as I am rather new to Flash?
