I'm having a flickering issue with a text control. Here's the context: I have a title which is represented by a Text control (no Label cause it needs to be able to be displayed in several lines). When the user rolls over the title, the text has to be underlined. What I have done: I've set listeners to the title's rollover and rollout events to something like this:

I have a netstream object playing a video introduction
ns.play(video.flv)
and on another frame of my movie I have a menu, at which point I call
ns.pause()
and then depending on what the user clicks, the netstream opens a new video:
ns.play(video2.flv)
except I see a flicker from the previous video I had running. I've tried all sorts of things.
I'm using a CSS file to style my flex application. can I use components IDs to change their style from the CSS file? Or I should add the styleName attribute for each element?

What I would like to do is add a custom 'stylename' to various components which I can then use to get a collection of these objects and therefore process their visibility property.
The idea is I want to hide various components based on what roles a logged in user has - I just want to make this flexible by adding an array of rolenames to a custom property or use the stylename property on a Canvas or Panel etc.
TWO PROBLEMS: THE FIRST ONE: I have one Button instaced botao01 Inside this button i have a animation, with to words alternating in a mask, each one word is a MC with instace names:
txt01_bt01 and txt02_bt01 This two MC have ONLY the text "home" inside, with one frame... its only a MC of a static text All flash have some objects, and this objects change the colors with some variables.... and this works fine. I want to change the colors of this static texts too. BUT when i put the command to change the color of the movie clip txt01_bt01, he really change the color BUT he lost the animation, the movement, he dont have more the movement!

I have just created an animation of moving text, which I wrote in flash pro and converted to symbols then animated.
When i play it with the play button on the timeline it plays beautifully. However when I publish it as an swf file for a split second on some of the words theres a slight white flicker. As in a horizontal line that quickly flashes up across some of the letters.
Kindly check the website [URL]. The Flash banner on the top has links like Home, Services, etc. on Mouse Over of it, it flickers. But when we navigate it to other pages such as Services, it wont. It happens only in Home Page.
View 1 RepliesI have an accordian which contains a repeater. That repeater takes an array as a dataprovider. The array in turn gets data from an XML file, on server, via HTTPService.
Now, data in the XML file gets modified after sometime frequently so I send the HTTPService after every 5 secs by using a Timer.
Problem: When the timer timesout after 5 secs, HttpService is sent, data is retrieved and showed in accordian but each time this happens, the accordian flickers. Thus, the flickering happens every 5 sec which is quite irritating.
Can I somehow remove the flickering to make the accordian update seemlessly? If it's the problem with accodian, will it persist if I use a DataGrid in place of accordian?
I'm trying to set up a form that presents a combobox when an ArrayCollection it's bound to has several items, and doesn't present one when it's empty or only has one item. I've tried doing this by creating this class, but unfortunately, the data provider I've bound to is never not empty at the time the setter executes.

the dataProvider 'data' updated itself every 3 seconds, so every 3 seconds that is a flicker of some sort, i see for a really short time an empty area and then it gets redrawn again. is there a way to make the update somewhat faster ?

View 2 RepliesI'm creating a small size Flex movies which contains two line charts, at the moment the size of the release build swf is 343KB, which is too large for our needs.
I've tried changing the loading of the SWC file to Runtime Shared Libraries, but I found that this removed the text of the charts (the text for the x and y axis). Why would the text be removed when the Framework linkage is set as a Runtime shared library?
I need a control in Flex 3 that is like NumericStepper, but that can display arbitrary strings. Does this control exist?
For convenience, I'm calling this a TextStepper. I want this as a compact way to display a list of string choices that a user can cycle through by clicking the up/down buttons. Compact means no drop-down or pop-up aspects of the control: the only way to change the selected index is to click the up/down button (which updates the text input value). Value cycling means that I really want to treat the underlying dataProvider as a circular buffer. So up/down clicks modify selectedIndex in modulo fashion.

I have implemented this one. I am getting 5 textboxes with empty value, if I entered some value in each textbox then, I want to get specific 3rd textbox value wen some event trigger.
Does anyone know what I need to do to get a flex text control to display cyrillic characters for example. [wvxvw? hebrew?] In addtion to the main .swf (.mxml) file there are font libraries loaded that are also in a seperate .swf The text control is subclassed from Flex.Text and in a seperated .AS file. Then to top it, the actual text in cyrillic is coming from an .xml file.I've tried "<?xml version="1.0" encoding='UTF-8' " in the main .mxml file and the xml file. I believe I've put Byte Order Marks (BOM's) for utf-8 in the .AS file and maybe some of the other files. I've compiled everything with specifying the utf-8 encoding as well. I get nothing where the characters are supposed to be.
View 0 RepliesI am attempting to dynamically change the color of a subset/portion of text in a Spark TextArea control. Using the MX-based TextArea, I could leverage the mx.controls.textClasses.TextRange type and change the color directly as follows:

Input Parameters to TextRange constructor:
1st argument: The TextArea control that will provide access to the underlying textField property

How would I go about doing this for a Spark-based TextArea control? I am looking to dynamically change the font color for a range of text, not just the entire TextArea AND I cannot statically specify the font color. The problem I run into when trying to re-use the TextRange type is that the 1st argument is expected to provide the textField property, which is currently not on the Spark-based TextArea control. I thought about extending the Spark-based TextArea control to provide this accessor property but that seems like overkill and is probably not the best approach.
