ActionScript 2.0 :: Zooming Object Using MovieClip On Stage

I have movie clip(1) on the stage, all I want to do is using another movie clip(2) as a button that when you click zooms the movie clip(1) bigger, then clicking movie clip(2) again takes it back to the original place.

I tried _parent and it will not let me save the file as flash 8 anymore.

I have a full screen movieclip, in which there are 5/6 buttons that can be draggable around the stage.Now, when i click on a button, a series of images appear at the side of it.What i want to do is to zoom in and center the stage on the photo if i click on it (something that you can see here: ml under the "projets" button, try and click one photo).It may seem tricky since you can actually drag and move the buttons, but logically it is not since i can retrieve the button position (and i place the photos inside it, so the distance between the button._x and the photo._x is in some way retrievable).

Anyway what i'm finding really tricky is the method to zoom and move the stage camera in order to center the photo.i thought of using the transition tweens on the _root in order to change the _xscale and _yscale to zoom, and the _x and _y to move itBut from here i have two problems: how can i determine the right amount of zoom if the stage is in full screen (so with all resolutions possible), and how much the _x and _y properties change after the zoom is done (because it seems to me that after changing the _xscale and _yscale of the _root, it changes the _x and _y values in it, in a way in which i have to add even 2000 pixels in order to center it)

Is this done with actionscript or manually tweening several clips? I can't quite seem to get my head around zooming in and out of several layers. I look at professional animations and notice the camera-like effects they manage to put into these animations. I'm wondering how I can do the same without having to just enlarge or reduce a movieclip across the stage. I'm just creating a movieclip from a text field object on the stage, giving it an instance name and setting some timeline animated over and out states for it. I'm then setting it up in AS3 to work like a button, so nothing complicated at all. But I am getting errors I have never seen before. Code is very simple basically I have a button called 'hair' contained within the mc 'menu', here it is:

So I noticed there are some new text options in CS5, but none of them give the result I want. If I leave this as the (now default) TLF text, it gives a couple of errors related to this no longer being a movieclip;

I have a MovieClip object, which is exported for actionscript (AS3) in an .swc file.When I place an instance of the clip on the stage without any modifications, it appears in the upper left corner, about half off stage (i.e. only the lower right quadrant of the object is visible). I understand that this is because the clip has a registration point which is not the upper left corner.If you call getBounds() on the movieclip you can get the bounds of the clip (presumably from the "point" that it's aligned on) which looks something like (left: -303, top: -100, right: 303, bottom: 100), you can subtract the left and top values from the clip x and y:[code]matrix has a tx value of 748 (half of stage height) ty value of 426 (Half of stage height)concatenatedMatrix has a tx value of 1699.5 and ty value of 967.75That's also obviously where the movieclip is getting positioned, but why? In the code below, I have created an instance of the DrawLineChart class called LineChart1.When I test the movie, it shows up on the stage just fine and when I click on it, I can use a trace command to get a string statement written to the output window. However, now I want to be able to click on LineChart1 on the stage and have it be removed. When I do that, I get an error message 1120: Access of undefined property LineChart1.

why I'm unable to refer to my instance LineChart1 and what I need to do so that I can refer to it and remove it when it gets clicked? why the trace statement works when I click on LineChart1 during runtime, but not the removechild command.

I am trying to build an MXML application with Flash Builder 4.5, and I am integrating an API that requires the root of a display object to be a MovieClip. Personally I think this is bad design but I have to go with it. The root object always seems to end up as the stage, because of course I have to add the object to the stage for it to be added to the display list. Is there some way that I can either change the stage type in an MXML application to a MovieClip or is there some way to force a MovieClip wrapper to become the root of a display object?

I'm trying to create a boundary for a player object, controlled with arrow keys, in my game using the main stage's height and width. For example, one test point is at the top edge of the player object's bounding box so that when the player object's head touches the stage's top edge, the player can't move anymore to the north. The player object is manually instantiated to the center of the stage by using the Flash stage editor so it will start at the center before the program starts.The problem is that right at the start of the program, I can no longer move the player object up or down with the arrow keys but I can still move it left or right. The intention is to allow the player to move north until the player object's head touches the top edge of the main stage.[code]

The following is that long only because I gave examples of what I want to know, not because it is complex .I have three basic questions regarding AS 3.0 classes.

1. How can I make a class object interact with an object on stage?

For example, when I have a square (mc_Square) with class "square" attached to it and I want it to trace "Colliding!" and print the X and Y of the mc_Box on contact with an on-stage *hollow* box (mc_Box) that has no class attached to it.how to do it vice-versa would also be awesome .

2. How can I make a class object interact with the same class object? For example, when I have two squares (mc_Square) that both have the class "square" attached to it and when they collide, it prints the X and Y of both of them.

3. How can I make a class object interact with a different class object?

For example, when I have two squares mc_Square1 with class "square1 (that also has a variable Primary=true written in it)" and a mc_Square2 with class "square2"; When they collide, the one with Primary=true would be removed and it's X,Y position traced.
