View 2 RepliesWhat I have is a SWF file that calls out to 3 different SWF files via the following code:
// Array of external clips to use. Variable index refers to next clip to be displayed.var clips:Array = ["page1.swf", "page2.swf", "page3.swf"];var index:int = 0;
// Stuff to load swf filesvar thisLoader:Loader = new Loader();
[code].......
Is it possible without looping to control which of 12 or so external swfs loads first when they all have to load on the same frame of the main movie? For example, we have a main movie which creates classes where the class is itself in an external movie. When we load locally, the movies all load fast enough that the classes are created correctly, however when we move to loading from the server some of the class movies are not loaded into their levels before the main movie tries to create the class with of course the result being the class is not generated and the movies do not function correctly.
View 2 RepliesIt could be that using loops is the only way to do what we want, however ever the optimist I'll ask the question anyways.

[URL]regarding this tutorial I started my site [URL] to get some trasition effects but im getting somewhat different since the external SWFs take time to load. isn't it better to create "intro and outro" on the same time line instead of loading external SWFs bcos once the movie loaded as a whole will lead to smooth and contineous transitions.
View 1 RepliesI recently created a site using the "Transitions between External SWFs" tutorial for Flash MX 2004. I use this to load the sections of my site into the main movie file. Each section is an External SWF file. When a viewer clicks on a navigation button, the specific external swf move will load and play. Currently, a viewer would need to click on another navigation option to close the current external swf file. I would like to add a close button to each of the external swfs so that a view has the option to close the window without clicking on a naviagtion link.
View 12 RepliesI have a main fla file which loads an external swf into an empty movieclip on the main timeline which works fine but I want a button in the external swf to load another external swf into another empty movie clip on the main timeline.eg. start.swf loads UKEIAMap.swf into (empty movie clip within start.swf) MapLoader_mc then a button havant_b within UKEIAMap.swf needs to load HavantProjectSheet.swf into (empty movie clip within start.swf) ProjectSheetLoader_mc without unloading UKEIAMap.swf
View 3 RepliesI am loading eight external swfs by way of eight buttons with actionscript to remove the swfs and sound after a new button is clicked. This works fine except that as soon as you get to the frame where the actionscript is all the swfs load at one time on top of each other. I don't want any to load until the button is clicked for the right one. MouseEvent listener works but only after all the swfs have loaded. How do I get the swfs to load only when the buttons are clicked. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

What I'm trying to do is create buttons in one swf that load another swf and also give instructions to begin playing from a certain frame in that swf. The target swf has a preloader on frame 1 and then a movie clip that contains a video in frame 2. Depending on which button the user presses the video will be cued up ready to play at different frames. think it may need an if statement ie if x=34 then goto frame 34, but I can't seem to pass the variables to the loaded swf.In the zip file is an example of what I'm trying to do.
View 10 RepliesI have a SWF (SWF A) that I'm loading into a movieclip (Movieclip C)which is part of another SWF (SWF B). Basically, SWF B functions as a player, with play and pause controls. These controls control Movieclip C where the external SWF A is loaded into.Normally, I have had no problem with this and it always works. At run time, when you click the pause button on SWF B, a stop() command is issued to Movieclip C, which stops the play of
the external movieclip (SWF A) loaded into it.However, I did a screen capture with Captivate and published it as a SWF. I loaded this SWF (SWF A) into Movieclip C in SWF B at run time. However, clicking the controls on SWF I created has NO EFFECT on the SWF I created in Captivate. It just keeps playing.I guess all SWFs are NOT created equal. How can I make this work?
I need a little advice. I've got a set of swfs that are all part of one training, and within these movies are a few sound effects attached to button instances. I want the user to be able to click a button to turn the sound on or off at any time during the training.
My first idea was to create a variable called wantSound, which each sound instance checks before deciding to play. This is working perfectly. There's a toggle switch on the main timeline that sets sound to on or off, and when a sound is supposed to play, it checks to see if wantSound=true, and plays, or if it is false, it does not.
This works fine on each individual .swf, but when a new .swf loads in, the sound defaults back to true, and the user has to turn it off again. I imagine this could be fixed by loading each movie into different levels instead of loading them into level0 or root, but as this is not how I originally created the file, that will take a lot of work to handle aligning the loaded movies and parking them (making sure none of the buttons are active on the level below). I'm lazy, what can I say? :-)
I've been looking around at similar questions, and found a decent tutorial on Macromedia's site about using javascript to pass a variable from flash to HTML. I went through that, and managed to get Flash to send my wantSound variable to HTML with no problem. Check here for the tutorial.
The only problem is that in macromedia's example for sending data from HTML back to Flash, they use a text field for getting the variable. I just want to take the variable sent from Flash to HTML and send it back to Flash when requested (at the beginning of the next SWF.)
how can you controll them as they are coming in? For example: i want to load three swfs but i want them to sit invisible until the user clicks a button to change visibility and see the content. The problem seems to be that you can't control it until it's all there... here's the code i have been trying.[AS]function
goMovie(xMovie, xLevel){
loadMovieNum(xMovie, xLevel);
mytry=false;

My Website opens, its written in HTML... There is a "Navigation" FLash at the top of the page which opens up HTML documents into the "Main Frame" below.Ok now... When the Website first loads up, In the Main frame of the page I want a flash swf to play as an intro to the website (Its a band website). Once the (intro) Swf ends I want it to tell the Navigation Flash Menu Swf to go ahead and show the buttons so people can navigate.Thats my first problem, or task to solve.2nd... If it is possible to control Swf's from an external one it must be possible to preload them aswell right? So what I want to do, is the site to load up... and all the preloading done from the Navigation Swf to account for both Swfs (Intro and Navigation)
View 2 RepliesI have several buttons, that link to several scenes, containing swf files. Using the loadmovie command I can get these swf's playing on-screen. That's good.
-How can I control where they appear on my document (I'd guess these require some x or y values, but not sure how this is done) as they all appear in the top left-hand corner.
- When I mouse over another button (link to scene/swf) how can I remove the previous swf from the page, then load the new swf -as they all appear in the same spot/all over each other? Is this an unload movie command?
I was hoping to counter this problem by using different scenes (no luck there) and all I really need to do is remove the previously loaded swf, when the new one is loaded.
Want to attach an externally loaded jpeg nested in a empty clip to another externally loaded jpeg nested in an empty clip.
View 2 RepliesI have created a main "site.swf" file that loads a "default.swf" file into a container after a preloader. On this default.swf file I have buttons that needs to load new external SWF files in its place in the container. All of the external SWFs contain buttons and navigations that will also call up other external SWFs into this container. So, I would like to know how to program each button (some are movieclips as buttons) to unload itself and load the respective SWF into the container (eg. AboutUsButton to call up aboutus.swf into the container). I do not have a main navigation on the site.swf file bacause the navigation changes on each SWF that needs to be loaded into the container.
View 2 RepliesSpecifically, I am building a flash page that loads external swf files and inside some of the external swf files, I would like to add audio and flash video (flv) streaming from the Flaash Media Server. In some of the external swf files, (using a FLVPlayback component) when you press a button on the main timeline to unload the current playing swf the audio/video continues to play after loading the new external swf file.So I believe that my approach is all wrong and I should be working to dynamically load the .mp3 and.flvs in the external swf ... my questiion is how to unload those assets when loading the new external swf
View 1 RepliesI'm attempting to create a website that uses externally loaded swf files into a shell animation like in Creating A Full Flash Site, only I'm trying to give each swf its own website url (ie. site.com/home, site.com/page2) while still using a single shell animation.
View 1 RepliesI am working on a project that needs to have the swf controlled by an external javascript file, I'm looking for something very simple like basically telling the swf what frame to go to in the main timeline. I know it's possible because I did it 4 years ago, the problem is that project and computer are long gone.
View 0 RepliesI've loaded my external SWF, now I want to animate a MC within that external swf, however, when i try, the animation freezes (or won't start at all), but the external SWF DOES load.Here is my loader code
Code:
var _externalMovie:MovieClip
var _url1:URLRequest = new URLRequest("intro.swf")

I'm trying to figure out how this is done or if this is even do-able. here is my situation, I using AS2.0 and with that i have created a mc loader, here is the code for that

I can't find a way to control an external SWF in AS3 like I used to be able to in AS2. This used to be a real simple way (among others) in AS2:[code]Unfortunately this has been abolished in AS3 . To load a SWF externally from a separate SWF file (on a separate CPU) in AS3, you now must now use a URL request along with a load request. However, the SWF is tied into this loader object of which's class does not contain "play", "stop", "currentFrame", "nextFrame", "prevFrame", "gotoAndPlay", "gotoAndStop", etc.According to the help panel, you can target any of the loader's child's methods by virtue of calling "loader.content" but it doesn't work. When I trace my "loader.content".... all I get back that it is an [Object Main Timeline] when I would expect it to be [Object MovieClip] if it were to have the methods I need.I need to do all sorts of gotoAndStop / gotoAndPlay functionality with external SWFs on another CPU. I have a nice XML server running successfully.
View 12 Repliesi am loading an external swf in to a movie clip and controlling it by using a slider with a knob. once the onEnterFrame is encountered the swf starts to play. This can be paused. But after pause the knob cannot be moved by using the startDrag().
View 1 RepliesI have a flash website in development and I'm using external .swf files for the sub pages. In my main.swf file I have a loading function that works and everything is fine and dandy there. My problem is that when I am loading the external "content" swf files into my main swf file, the actionscript that is embedded in my external .swf is not functional (there are buttons in the content swf with event listeners to control them). I have a movie clip holder set up and placed on my stage in the main swf file and that is what I am adding the content swf's to.
Now in all of my attempts to isolate the problem I have noticed one thing. If I add the external "content" swf directly to the stage of my main swf file, the code works, but if I add it to my container mc (which I have basically set up to control the position that the content is loaded to and to set up boundaries/masks to control the content from overspilling) then the code is not operational.
Code:
The code below is called by my loadContent function on my main swf
contentmc = MovieClip(event.target.content); // the external swf is assigned to a movie clip object
addChild(contentmc); // when using this, code works in the external swf
contentwindow.addChild(contentmc); // when using this, code in the external swf no longer works.
I have a flash movie emmbedded in my web page. I what to be able to go to certain frames using html. Can this be done. If so how?
View 1 RepliesI'm working from main.swf and I need to call another swf to display one of four flvs once the appropriate button is clicked.
main.swf = my main content
player.swf = contains mc_playMovie
mc_playMovie = embedded in player.swf and contains four frames, each with a different flv movie.
My code so far:

createEmptyMovieClip("targetMC", this.getNextHighestDepth())
targetMC._x = 0
targetMC._y = 0

Just wondering how to control the timeline of an external swf loaded into the root of your main timeline, from within nested movieclips on your main timeline?I can successfully control it once it's loaded from within the function that assigns the external swf a MovieClip var, but I want to control it from deeper in my main swf.1. I've loaded an external swf into the root of my main swf.2. After loading, I assign the external swf a MovieClip var, and then set up a button to control the timeline of the external swf:
function dataOnLoad(evt:Event): void {
var myClip:MovieClip = evt.target.content;
function updateSwf(evt:MouseEvent): void{
