ActionScript 2.0 :: Auto-update Photo Gallery - Order
Oct 9, 2003
How do I make a photo gallery that up dates by itself its contents getting it from a folder and putting then in order? The pictures when clicked should load a swf with information about the tittle.
i would like to change the order in wich the kirupa photo gallery script worksnow: fading out old image => loading new image (with loader) => fading in new imagei would like to have this changed in:loading new image (while old image can still be seen) => fading out old image => fading in nex image.
I followed the guide to make a dynamically loading image gallery hereI would also like to change a dynamic text box as the image change.Can anyone sugest something? Changes to the code to do this? I thought it could be done by loading some external text files from an array, but I have no idea about this kinda thing.
I want to create a photo gallery where the photos don't have to be the same size. I need the photo border or container to smoothly resize to accomadate each new image.
I was taking a look at this great site at the link interior Design. How it's done that gallery? I noticed that the pictures are loaded in order, before they are asked to be shown. When the user clicks on the number of the image, it has already been loaded by the swf.
I am trying to make a photo gallery that is dynamic instead of throwing the pictures in a movie and tweening effect inbetween them. I know, why take the easy route.
What basically I want to happen is that when the movie loads the first image is displayed for 4 seconds then fades out as the next image is fading in. I have 11 pictures that are in a folder called "weddings". The pictures are all named "weddings0.jpg", "weddings1.jpg", "weddings2.jpg",...... "weddings10.jpg". Here is the code for this part, I have tested and it works:
Code: totalImages = 11; k=0; var aWedding = new Array;

At this point I have loaded all the images into movieclips and stored their references in an array. I have also gotten them all alpha of 0 except the first image, weddings0, which I want to display first. My function to make the images scroll through doesn't work. If I trace what the alpha is as it scrolls though I get wierd numbers like 93.3233432 or 32.323223 which doesn't make sense to me because I am increasing or decreasing the alpha by += 2 or -= 2. I don't know where the functions come. Anyway, here is the code, or what I have I should say, btw
I have the code linked to a button right now to test if it works, I would like it to run automatically on load: Code: butt.onRelease = function(){ trace(k + " k"); tempInt = setInterval(fadeInOut, 10, aWedding[k], aWedding[k+1]); } function fadeInOut(mcPic1, mcPic2){ [Code] .....

I'm looking for a way to setup a slideshow of pictures that I can control with Actionscript. I've come up with something using setInterval, but I'm having problems with that, so I'm looking for an alternative method. I have maybe 5 photos. Starting with the first photo I'd like to have it slowly fade on, when it reaches an alpha of 99 or higher, it will wait a certain amount of seconds and then the next picture will fade in. I'd like to do this automatically through actionscript, don't want to use keyframes or animations.
I have a flash site with 10 different tabs/sections with a stage size of 1200 x 1372. The final tab of the site contains a photo gallery, which I would like to have a different stage size and just fit the browser screen as it loads an external SWF which auto fits to the screen. At the moment, it auto fits the stage size meaning the bottom half of the photos don't show. How I can just alter the last page?
how can I modify the embedded photo gallery slideshow from Google's Picasa to auto repeat the pictures, i.e. play them over and over again? This is the code Picasa gives me for embedding in a website:
Related to this, are there free tools that take as input a Picasa username or a set of photos and automatically create a thumbnailed gallery, which is embeddable using Flash in any website?
its for a photo gallery that I downlowded,the images fades in and out, but only start that when you click a button(timer).I'm trying to founf out where in the script I can change this, so that the photo's start automatically,rather than, on a button click.I have pasted the script below, is that ok, or would people rather a zip file of the files?

I have an XML photo gallery, that when it starts it has a loader for the photos. It always starts with the XML file determined sequence, which is fine, but what happens is that the tabs on the right hand side of the photo loader go astray while it is loading the first photo. If the first photo was loaded instantly this wouldnt be an issue.Is there a way that I can preload that first photo, so that it is in memory when the swf file reads the XML file, allowing the first photo to be instantly loaded ?Amongst other things, I tried embedding the photo in the swf file, but it didnt work...obviously I have no idea what to script...I also created another scene, prior to the main scene, to preload the photo.. but it didnt work either, again probably used useless script...Going further in detail, this is the main script:
I have been searching for a particular photo gallery, and haven't got far. Here is an example of what I am looking for. With the example I wanting the user to be able to click on a photo for it to appear in the box above. I am looking for a tutorial, so I can customise to fit in my client's flash website.
What I want to do is to make a gallery based on the tutorial gallery here (thumbs), but I want the user to be able to choose different galleries from within the movie. I figured that I could make a loop to cycle through the galleries, then nest another loop inside it to cycle through the pics, captions and thumbs. While I wrote, I constantly tested the output with trace commands, but when I tried nesting the loop I lost all output.. I'm pretty new to both Flash and Actionscript, so if theres an obvious solution I havent been able to see it.. This is my temp XML file:
i am trying to add extra images to the photo gallery attached. I would have thought it is easy and it seems so. I add an extra image to the gallery. I publish it. The html file shows the extra image in the gallery but the swf doesnt. driving me crazy, cant work it out?
I have a flash site that I'm working with that has an xml photo gallery as one of it's menu items. the photo gallery has three pages, all three containing thumbnail images that once clicked, load the larger image. The larger image dissolves in covering the page with the image. Once you click the larger image it dissolves out returning you to the gallery.
What I want to to do is to change the first page of this gallery to a video gallery, or player, leaving the other two galleries as image galleries. I tried simply replacing the images listed in the xml document to flv files and the flv file does not load. I simply want to know what it is I need to do in order to change this one page so that I can embed videos on it.
I've attached the Action script that loads the xml gallery in .txt format
i am trying to put some things together following the tutorials on this site. I did the tutorial 'Photo Gallery Using XML and Flash'and I followed it step by step and uploaded it with all the necessary files onto my remote server (xml file, Gallery folder, fla, swf, and html) - however, when I test the movie with flash, it seems to work fine (except the description test, my question to that later), but when I test it online it shows only the first image (but displays the correct number of images in the gallery); even when clicking the next button, it keeps loading the first image the first image. In other galleries (I use the structure for multiple galleries for my portfolio) the first image never loads at all.
Also, about the description text, in between the <caption> and </caption>, can I use <strong> and <em> and <br /> to change the appearance of my text? All it says is 'null'.If you want to look at what I mean check out my portfolio in the making. The problem with the first image displaying only is under 'paintings' and both the projects in 'design - packaging'. The second problem (no picture loading at all) is on some of the buttons in 'design - identity' (where I have not changed the description text of the tutorial yet). Again,
I have a AS 1.0 code that when i refresh my page change an especific swf file.but i want that every 15 second, change automatic the files without refresh the page?how i can do it?i dont know use action script.
don't spend time trying to read it because it's in danish Just so you can see how it works.I need it to change the final amount (last box) if I choose another one from the scroll down bar. (right now the final amount does not update when first option is changed.Its at simple array form which multiply with the second box and give me a anwser.
The code: //This is used for the scroll down bar. It get's the info from a array. Quote:
I have a dynamic text box that I'm loading data into from a PHP file using loadVariablesNum("data.php", 0);
The PHP runs a SQL query that fetches data from MySQL. The data in the MySQL database changes frequently, and I want to update the dynamic text box with the latest info.
How do you do that? Or is it possible? I assume you use setInterval.
Currently, it only updates the field if I visit the PHP file and refresh the data. Otherwise, the dynamic text box just displays the data from the last SQL query.
I have a problem about my desktop application program which is I have a banner in my application and it has a flash (its name exmple.swf) run in the banner, now I want my program will auto update the exmple.swf file from remote server for the flash. How must I do.
I'm building a flash application (actually four of them) that pull a simple RSS feed from a site, display's the contents and gives the user options on what it wants to do with the updates. However, currently the refreshing is manual (e.g. client does it on their own digression). I like making modules / widgets mostly for myself at the moment to learn more. I had previous experience making a C# XMLSocket server for a flash application that ripped information off of windows media player in my home network which ran on my old archos 7 device. I could control my music on my desktop PC from anywhere in my apartment! Pretty cool stuff and it really got me reeled in.
I understand on making flash auto-check for the latest rss items, and could possibly do away with the manual "refresh" button. What I'd love to figure out, is there a way to have flash automatically update displayed contents out of a feed the second the RSS feed updates, or will it only be on a timer? Secondly, let's say I get some new items in my RSS feed, how would one kick back a) the amount of updated items b) the time in which the rss update was caught and c) kick some sort of message back to the user e.g. => "5 new entries, updated x minutes ago". Lastly some sort of caching locally would be awesome to store older xml entries. I have many questions to understand this fully but this is the ice breaker. Essentially this is my holy grail of questions on things I'd like to do with my flash project. My last step in this understanding process will be getting this into adobe AIR and having actionscript fire off a Toast notification. However, I'm taking the baby steps (Yes, I know I posted this in the Actionscript 2 forum) however this will allow me to better understand this on how to do it. Later on I will learn by myself how to port this over to AS3 and get that jiving with AIR.
Here's some code I created as an answer to another question. It pulls a library item out of the library and puts it on stage programmatically. No big deal, except that in order to get the image displayed on the screen to actually update, I had to removeChild() and then addChild() it back. Is there another way to force the screen to redraw?
[Code]....
Note that in this example, this code is on frame 1 of the timeline. It _feels_ like imageClip is not a direct reference to the thing that's actually on the display list. However, when I modified my code to replace the reference to the AS variable imageClip with a more direct reference to the element on the stage (imageClip = getChildAt(1)), that made no difference either.
I create a widget that displays the weather from a feed supplied from weather site, but after the initial load the weather isn't updated until the page is refreshed. Its not going to be web based widget so HTML refresh won't work. How would I go about getting the swf to auto refresh every 4 hours?
I know there currently some ways to install the sdk for Air 3 and flash player 11. But when will there be an update the installs these key elements in a professional an clean way? Is the an offical date for when an flash cs5.5 update will install the new sdks?
