Apr 16, 2010My client wanted two distinct swf on a web page: a viewer on top and a slideshow of images at bottom.Clicking a link on the slideshow make the viewer load a movie, by means of LocalConnection api.The slideshow has a default, so when the page is loaded a default movie start.This works nice on all browser. The only problem I have is on firefox. When screen resolution is too low, or the monitor is too small (netbook) the slideshow remain hidden until scrolling. Therefore at page loading it doesn't start and the main viewer don't get instructed on playing the default video.As soon as I scroll the page, and the slideshow swf display on page, it starts and everything works fine. I cannot change the design, I must have two distinct swf, the come from a library he has, and I am trying to reuse components.

May 19, 2007Ive just finished a flash web site that ive used a lot of XML for loading my images from thumbnails. Its works great.
Except it takes maybe 3-4 minutes to load. I think whats happening is its loading all the images in that XML file before it even shows the first thumbnail, so thats like 2MB its loading.
Is there a way to preload all of the xml files at the start on my Flash splash page?

Feb 25, 2010when you go to the home.html page an animation will play from start and then stop at the end of it. However, for all other pages i.e contact.html aboutus.html we need the animation to skip to the end straight away and not to play the whole animation through. I was thinking this would be controlled by a variable or some kind of external text file ect. Basically in the first frame the actionscript needs to basically say
"if this html page is aboutus.html then go to the last frame and stop" and with the index page it would say "if this html page is index.html then keep playing"

When I try to view the start page on my iOS device (updated to latest) I get a brief flicker of the start page then a blank white screen with a 'Get Adobe Flash Player' icon.
This is really tripping me up. I've had a previous failure to get HTTP streaming working so Im trying now with a clean install on a new machine. I'm trying to follow 100% with the article mentioned above and I am getting different results.

Jan 26, 2009i'm trying to build a flash site and ran into a problem... i have a gallery page with a bunch of page numbers at the top. when you click on one, a movieclip loads of some images coming in.so the problem i'm having is that i made a little animation for when you roll the mouse over the page number (they scale up when the mouse is over, scale back when the cursor moves away)... what it's doing is when you roll over, it goes to a certain frame in the timeline and plays that animation.that's all working cool, but i need it to not do that once it's clicked on. so basically when you actually click on a page number, the over script should stop until you go to another page... here's the code i've written,

Apr 12, 2010flash version: CS3 AS2 Im having trouble making the pages for a website im working on. I have a row of buttons, and I want each one to open its corrisponding page ie. contact_us_button to open contact_us movie clip. the thing is I want each page to transition in and out. so when I click contact us, the contact us movie clip fades in and stops. When I click about us, the contact us movie clip fades out and about us fades in.
Is the way to do this to make each page movie clip have a fade start and fade end, and have it stop before the fade end, and on another page click continue playing the current clip to get the fade out and then open the new page movie clip?

Apr 24, 2011I'm trying to broaden my horizons with it and so I'm trying to do an update of a quiz program my employer has. Everything has worked well, except for the timer. The button that starts the game has two options, "study" or "exam"; if the study is selected, there is no countdown, just the score keeper. If the exam option is selected, the timer is show (counting up). But, press "Start" and while the quiz begins, the timer, in either case, does not.
I'm going to post the actionscript for the timer that was already there, as well as the start button. I'm hoping someone can explain how this timer is supposed to work and why it's not; and where the disconnect lies in pressing the start button and making it run.The timer is embedded in a movie clip, with two dynamic text boxes, that are for some have no instance name; and actionscript spread out over several frames.Frame 1:
