Professional :: Sound Class - Page Music Does Not Start
Apr 19, 2011
I have a Flash 8 site that plays music in the background. When I click on one of the menu choices, the timeline jumps to another frame where the selected page is. Once at that page, I want the background music to stop and the page's music to start. Here is what I have:
Attached to frame 1:
var s:Sound=new Sound(); // to initialize a sound instances
then attached to each page keyframe:
stopAllSounds();
s.attachSound("thelinkageidofthesoundthatcorrespondstothispage");
s.start();
When the timeline jumps to the page frame, the background music stops but the page's music doesn't start.
So I am a complete novice at actionscript as was evident in my attempts to figure this out on my own. I have the following code to control the "Songs" section of my website and I would like the following features:
1. Not have the music automatically start when the user enters the frame. (I thought this was due to line 3 code but it still played after I deleted that code)
2. Add a "Back" button to go back 1 song.I currently have it set up with the following code on my "Songs" Page:
I want a site to have background music, but when I attach the music to the file it makes it quite large ...3 meg and the site is slow to load. Is there any way of having the music separate from the flash file and still have start stop music buttons?
I'm working on a background music class and found that you cannot use the Sound class in a class file. Specifically, initiating and attaching the sound. Starting, stopping, getting the duration and such seem acceptable (though I haven't tested this yet). I've done a few searches and haven't found any work arounds other than when the class is called, hand it the sound object with the sound already attached, like this:
ActionScript Code: import bgMusicClass; var bgSnd:Sound = new Sound(this); bgSnd.attachSnd("newWave.mp3"); var bgMusic = new bgMusicClass(bgSnd);
I have a Flash 8 site that plays background music.I would like to be able to change the music depending on which page the visitor is on. So when the user clicks on a page on the menu and the site shows the page that the user selected, the music also changes depending on which page the user selected. Right now the music is on the main timeline and set to Loop.
I have my mp3 audio clip and made my play and stop button. I am using cs4 and as3. I want to have the play and stop button on my main page but still have the music play when the users clicks onto one of the buttons which takes them to a new page.
how do I tell an html page to open with a swf item on level 50, so that when I call another item into level 50, it REPLACES the original item. Right now, when I call another item, it just goes over the top and stuff shows. I'm using loadMovieNum, AS 2 Flash CS3
Didn't know if I should be here or in the Dreamweaver forum. Just trying to figure out how to make a Flash swf. start only after all the other elements of the page have been downloaded. Is this something you would do in Flash through Publish Settings or would this be accomplished in Dreamweaver?
i have a question about loading an mp3 in flash. the mp3 is loading & playing fine, but if i click a button to go to a new frame, and then click another button to return to the home page, a new copy of the same audio clip is loaded over the one that is already playing, thus causing two audio files to play at the same time. it will keep loading a new copy of the audio clip every single time i return to the home page. how do i go about correcting this? the following is the code i am using:
I don't have quite a good enough grasp on AS3 just yet, but I'm getting there.I have a movie that has an intro to it. It also has buttons that take them to subsequent pages.Once they go back, I'd like the intro portion of the movie to not play. In other words, I'd like it to start at a particular frame after the initial visit to it.I think this can be done with Local Shared Objects,
Basically I have a flash website built on different frames of the timeline, the simplest way I think.Some of these frames have movie clips embedded into them using the flv playback component class.The problem I have is the following, the site works fine and videos play fine, but whenever I navigate offa part of the website to another, from a frame to another - the sound of the clips that were playing keepsplaying on the background and never stop and it keeps building up every time I navigate of.f each page.I want to remark that I believe is not only the sound that keeps playing "invisible" but the whole clip butThis is the AS code for my buttons on an example frame, would you be so kind to tell me what I should add or change
I have a long mp3 file hosted on a standard apache server (30 minutes long so far, but I would like it to work with longer sounds too).I'd like to start playback of this audio within at a specified point. When attempting to use Flash Actionscript 3, my basic tests show that ALL the audio from the start to the position I choose is buffered before playback (Sound.bytesLoaded was my friend here). If I start one second in, it takes about 3 seconds to start playback, 30 seconds in, takes about 25 secondsObviously with a really long mp3, like skipping playback to the middle of a 3-hour audiobook, this isn't going to be practical.Here's the ActionScript 3.0 code I'm using:
button.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, function():void { var s:Sound = new Sound(); var req:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://example.com/audio.mp3");
I'm trying to load sound dynamically into a clip and then play it randomly. The AS I came up with works great if the sound is embedded and I use the .attachSound() method instead of loadSound(). Now, when I load it dynamically and use the code below, the sound plays very fast and at a higher pitch.
Code: var crows = new Sound(this); crows.loadSound("Raven.mp3", false); crows.setVolume(100);
I'm fairly new at AC2 (Yes, I need to update), and I have Flash CS3.I need to find out if I can have a button that when you click it, plays a music file, and then when you click it again, the music that was playing for that button would stop.I have a text box on top of a rectangle and I selected them both and converted them to a button symbol, named it MusicFile, double clicked on the new button, inserted a new keyframe in the timeline on "down" (where it says Up, Over, Down, Hit), and then dragged the music file from the library onto the button. It works fine, until I click the button a second time, and it just keeps playing as if I pushed play twice and two copies of the sound started playing.Is it possible to make the button play the music when it's clicked the first time, then stop the music that it was just playing the second time it was clicked?
I have a flash file with a volume controller. everything works the problem is that music wont start unless play is pressed and volume gets turned up. Obviously is something to do with the coding in the script. All I want is the music to start automatically and the volume to be up already once song is loaded. I tried playing with the script but no luck.
i'm having issues getting backgorund music to stop and start.here's how i have it set up.i have a blank swf file that has an empty MC to load up the external swf's.i also have a MC on that same blank swf file that contains the background music.on one of my external swfs has the controller for the audio.i've been using this script to control the background music:
on (release) { _root.audio.gotoAndStop(1); }
basically, i'm trying to turn the audio off and on thru my external swf.i have a zip file with my files in it if anyone want's to take a look at it.
I followed the tutorial about making your own mp3player but I don't want the music to start directly I want it to start after I clicked on play ... Code: // Setup sound object var s:Sound = new Sound(); s.onSoundComplete = playSong; s.setVolume(75); [Code] .....
I have a volume controller with a simple play and stop button. I want music to start on its on when site is loaded, but music deosnt start unless play is pressed and volume is turned up.Thia is the script I have, how do I change it simply to make to song start automatically when site loads????
onClipEvent (load) { mySound = new Sound(); mySound.loadSound("nachomp3.mp3", false);
How can I get the pause button to stop sounds and music, and the play button to start them up again? As of now, it only stops the animation, and lets the music continue.
I have created a SWF file that plays/stops sound. The SWF file works great when previewed in Flash CS4, but does not work when inserted in the HTML file.Here are the 2 files that are automatically generated when I INSERT>MEDIA>SWF in Dreamweaver CS4:
swfobject_modified.js expressInstall.swf Here is the ActionScript3 that I am using in the Flash file:
i have got all my public vars for sound class but im having trouble on how i would execute them because i normal would use event listener but its OOP lol so how do you get that functionality ?code in star.as file:
package { import flash.display.MovieClip; public class star extends MovieClip {[code]......
Yeh, does any 1 know where i can find good non-copyright music? I have search araound on google, but i wanna check here, i am scared of virus and im not that person some download whithout ceck if its virus on the site or not...

The user should be able to toggle on or off the sounds button where clicking (on) will turn on the sounds while the button's label will be changed to 'off'Initially the sound is off.
I've put this scipting at the beginning of of my flash file, but now I want to add a music on/off button. One button. What scripting do I use for the button?
I'm working on a pretty basic interactive children's book. I have it set up so that each page has audio relating to that specific page. Going forward, there is no issue with sound overlapping from the current and next pages. Going backward, however, there is an issue with sound playing on both the current and previous pages. How do I stop this?
I'm trying to build a sort of flash based portfolio that will allow the user to control what they view. I want some background music to play under all of this, but when the user goes to a particular scene or frame of animation the music will stop or skip as they move.
Is there a way to get the music to just play in the background in an endless loop regardless of which scene or frame they jump to or another way to get a similar effect? I'd really like it to be interactive rather than just a preset slide show.
