View 6 RepliesI want a site to have background music, but when I attach the music to the file it makes it quite large ...3 meg and the site is slow to load. Is there any way of having the music separate from the flash file and still have start stop music buttons?

I have some songs in the same folder as i have my .fla file. I call the .mp3 file on the first frame and i want to be able to pause it or stop it when i click on a button. I would appreciate the code for that. Or maybe any other suggestion on how i should add music to my .fla file.

I'm working on an animation where I have my "dog" fighting the evil vacuum cleaner. I got most of it to work the way I want it to.
1) I have movie clips entitled pepper_mc (where my dog is supposed to be walking), swirl (where a swirly-type symbol is supposed to spin over the dead vacuum's head), and vacuum_mc (where the evil vacuum is supposed to have a swinging arm (called vacuumarm_mc) that I created using the bone tool). When I add them to the stage and test them, the animations within the movie clips don't happen.
2) I have background music that I'd like to stop playing at the end of the animation, but I'm not sure how to do that. (using the stop(); actionscript doesn't help).Where am I going wrong? I'm using Flash Pro CS5.

I am trying to create a music animator. It will have bars that move up and down do the beat of the music. This is like windows media player where the music animations play. I want it to be verticle bars, where some are in sync with like the base and others are in sync with the tempo. Does anyone know of a tutorial for this? I am trying to emplement it within my website so that whatever music I am playing will auto control the bars and sync.
View 5 RepliesI have an .mp3 file which is supposed to be embedded in the timeline. Since it is 6 minutes long, it not practical to run it streaming on to the 7,200 frame. Consequently, in order to get it to run I have set the property to Event rather than sound. Also I have set it to repeat 99 times. How can I put in a volune control, or mute button. Can anyone help as I am quite new to this.
View 1 RepliesI call it a hiccup because the code works; but it's backwards. When I hit the audio button it plays the music and when I hit it again it stops the music. I wish for the music to play automatically when you enter the SWF and then you hit the button to mute the music if you wish; and then hit the button again to play the music again.

how to change this on my 'flash template' and how to successfully mute the background music as my VIDEO starts to play.

The background music is set as per TEMPLATE that I got. I would like to add a quicktime movie to the website, under the page titled "TRAILER" - and have tried to do so myself by adding the QUICKTIME to the project through another SWF that I got elsewhere (a different 'template' so to speak).

I'd like to be able to stop the background music when the viewer visits the TRAILER page of the site, as that is when the trailer starts to play. The music can stop abruptly, that is fine.
I'd like for the music to continue to play (either from the start, or where it was stopped) when any other pages are visited after watching of the trailer.

I have a small problem I want to mute the music when a person clicks on the video page so they dont have to manually click the speaker to shut the sound off to hear the video. As well when they leave the page I want the music to continue playing. The music does not have to start over again, I just want it to mute while on the video page.
I tried using this: SoundMixer.soundTransform = new SoundTransform(0);
But it even mutes the video sound.
And I tried this: SoundMixer.stopAll();
It does kill off the background music, but I dont know how to turn on the music again when you leave the video page.
I prefer to use: SoundMixer.soundTransform = new SoundTransform(0); as it is easier to work with and you can adjust the volume as you like.

View 1 RepliesI'm fairly new at AC2 (Yes, I need to update), and I have Flash CS3.I need to find out if I can have a button that when you click it, plays a music file, and then when you click it again, the music that was playing for that button would stop.I have a text box on top of a rectangle and I selected them both and converted them to a button symbol, named it MusicFile, double clicked on the new button, inserted a new keyframe in the timeline on "down" (where it says Up, Over, Down, Hit), and then dragged the music file from the library onto the button. It works fine, until I click the button a second time, and it just keeps playing as if I pushed play twice and two copies of the sound started playing.Is it possible to make the button play the music when it's clicked the first time, then stop the music that it was just playing the second time it was clicked?

this works great for playing the music but I don't know how to have a pause and restart button for the music.
I have a flash file with a volume controller. everything works the problem is that music wont start unless play is pressed and volume gets turned up. Obviously is something to do with the coding in the script. All I want is the music to start automatically and the volume to be up already once song is loaded. I tried playing with the script but no luck.

I have a Flash 8 site that plays music in the background. When I click on one of the menu choices, the timeline jumps to another frame where the selected page is. Once at that page, I want the background music to stop and the page's music to start. Here is what I have:

How can I get the pause button to stop sounds and music, and the play button to start them up again? As of now, it only stops the animation, and lets the music continue.
View 1 RepliesSo I am a complete novice at actionscript as was evident in my attempts to figure this out on my own. I have the following code to control the "Songs" section of my website and I would like the following features:
1. Not have the music automatically start when the user enters the frame. (I thought this was due to line 3 code but it still played after I deleted that code)

I've downloaded the the Flash mp3 Player. I did some minor modifications to it and it works well. The only problem I have is that when the mute button is pressed, the current song is mute(s.setVolume(0)), but when the next song comes up, the mute button is not in mute state(Volume not set to 0). I want to keep the mute state unchanged when the songs are playing untill the mute button is pressed again.

First thing I want it is to load the nomusic animation... which is a mc within the player mc. then when the music loads it'll play the workign animation when the song loads.also i'm trying to avoid going to different keyframes and states. so when song 1 is played, and if the forward button is pressed i want it to go the next song. etc...

I want to use the same flash file on multiple pages on my website, but on some pages, I don't want the first two scenes to play-- they are introductions & a preloader, and I figure this would be smart to use the same file if the logo is already in the viewer's cache. I have my animation set to gotoAndplay a frame after the introduction, so I want to start it after the intro on other pages.How do I embed an animation to start at a different frame than Frame 1?
