ActionScript 2.0 :: Check User Answer By Checking Input Text Box
Jul 26, 2004
how do i check the answer that enter by user.... the marks is given by checking whether they user key in the keywords or not... i m thinking of using string method...but i not able to do it...
I have four text input boxes, and I need to be able to script it so that when the "Done" button is pushed each of the boxes are checked for the right input. I've tried two different methods, neither of which work or the answer is automatically correct.
I am working in a AI project: a Chatterbot and it works fine. I work in webdesign, video, 3D and illustration and this personal project eats my free time You should set the answers and questions in the XML file called "bdenglish.xml", it contains a basic example. The bot will understand the new nodes. Actionscript(FLA) processes the user input text and search for an answer in the XML file. The bot can understand several ways to make a question. Also it can memorise the conversation subject if you use XML propierties (It is unfinished) The user can use ENTER key or the SEND button. The bot can know the genre of the user because it is male like default, but it search in a female names list. The output field answer is HTML text, also it support images, animations or sounds. The bot can chat in several languages. You can synchronize video with the answers (bot expression), I am woking in a basic function with video.
I am workin in a alternative answer motor, it would work with the XML. I want to use lipsync in the future for a talking version. How it works? - The bot converts the XML database to an multidimensional array.- The user writes a question - This input is processed in the AS code - The bot searchs in the multidimensional array - The first word must be found - The bot answer the question or it responds something if the question is not found I am not programmer and the AS3 bot was hard for me, but it works. I was trying get a good code and I am work in a better search function. I hope some criticism and comment from Kirupa masters! It is in my personal site:[URL]
I am just trying to check the contents of text field that the user can enter text into. Here's the code: btn_check.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, checkAnswer); function checkAnswer(evt:MouseEvent):void { if (answer.text=="48%") { messageBox.text="CORRECT"; } else { messageBox.text="INCORRECT. TRY AGAIN."; }}
I am trying to get an answer from Input text Field and compare it to the correct answer.here is how my code look like:
//I have a confirm button here confirm_button.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, ConfirmFunction); //I have a correct answer as a String here var correctans:String = "July";
[code]....
This will check if correct answer contains words in the answer from input text field.But that will result on if I key in "July is great", it will still link to the correct answer frame instead of wrong answer frame.I want the answer to be exact same as the correct answer.
I have input text box. the user can place there answer to question 1 in the textbox. what is the capital of the united Kingdom.the answer is london. so i want a to be able to check the user has subbmitted and typed letters london as there answer. i want to check in iput textbox ( the letter keys "london")
I'm trying to do a check to see if the user inputed a number into an input text field. I'm also running a check to see if the user has left the input blank (which works just fine), but I can seem to get the NaN function working.
(using actionscript 2.0 w/ flash CS3)
Quote:
this.btn_step1next.onRelease = function() { if ( zipcode.text == "" || zipcode.text == isNaN() ) { message.text = "Please enter your ZIP code to continue."; } else {
I'm very new to Flash, and I'm not a programmer, I have an Input text box named txtNe2 where a user will type an answer to a question. I want to evaluate the answer when the user pushes the Enter key and respond by sending the movie to either the "Ne2C" frame or the "Ne2I" frame (for the response to the correct or incorrect answer).
i am trying to create a simple quiz in school. I have one test question which requires the answer to be -1.I have created Input text and assigned the variable answer for this question.I have a button with the following AS2 script:
on (press, keyPress "<Enter>") { if(answer eq "-1" or answer eq "minus 1" or answer eq "Minus 1" or answer eq "Minus one" or answer eq "minus one")
[Code]....
Firstly whatever you type the numerical keys are immobilised on the keyboard when the .SWF file is builtSecondly I cannot enter the correct answer!! If I type in Minus 1 etc it goes to frame 3.I have tried flags rather than frame numbers - same problem.i have tried remaking the quiz as a separate file.using CS4 and CS5 flash - windows 7 PC.
I would like to make an input text field in flash as2. What I need is when the user write down an answer it will direct him to an html page I created. There are 3 answers and 3 pages, so they will write down one of the answer and when they will click "enter" they will be redirected. I understand you can do it with "if" statement but I don't know how!
i have created a fill-up word blank and button. After filling up the word blank, click on "result" btn. the instance name of the text field is answer_txt.
[Code]...
How do i make the script recognise the answer input in all cases? For e.g
I have a quiz where a user must enter a letter (A, B, C) into an input text field labeled answer1. When they click check answer, I need to have feedback that says correct or incorrect. I need to know how to do this.
Working on a simple dog and pony show that needs to fake some password entry. I'm in Flash CS3 using AS2.0.
I have an Input Text field named "txt_pinnums" and its line type is set to Password. It has a variable of "pinpassword".
All I want to do when "btn_ok" is pressed is check that the numbers entered on the keypad that are now in the input text field equal "1234". It seems though that the value of that field is a bunch of HTML, not simple characters. Here is what I have:
I'm sure my AS is not that good, but as I said this is just a simple show and tell demo that will be thrown away. How can I test that the input text equals 1234? If I do a trace(pinpassword) I get a bunch of HTML in addition to the characters entered.
Also, one syntactical question. I tried this:
PHP Code:
btn_ok.onRelease = checkPin;
But that doesn't work... that type of thing works in JS though. Curious as to why it doesn't work.
Just wondering where I find a list of what can be error checked in input text fields?I'm looking for things like...- checking that letters and not numbers are entered- checking that an entered number is in a certain range
I'm working on a quiz-style piece right now and in short it's several pages of multi choice questions, each rewarding a certain point amount that is added up at the end and given specific results based on the point range scored. (i.e. 10-20 = good, 21-30 = great... etc)
For code I've stopped here: if (answercheck == 40 - 52){ trace("Feedback: Range 40 - 52"); form.gotoAndStop(3); form.AnswerTotal.Number = answercheck; }
Answercheck is the var with the total points accumulated. Form is the mc with the feedback frames based on their point totals. AnswerTotal is the dynamic text box I'm trying to load the exact point total the user acquired into at the end.
I'm making a form in flash for an application I'm building. In the Email text input, I want to check that the user has entered a real email address. Obviously as long as its text@text.text then I'm happy. How do I check what the have entered a valid format?
The user needs to submit a dollar amount answer. They could write is several ways. I'm trying to accomodate it with the code below. It always evaluates it as the wrong answer (the else).
As part of a flash 8 project, I have created a Quiz using Check Boxes.In Question 1, I have got 8 Ckeckboxes in 2 columns of which check boxes:- B, D. E, and H are correct answers.The rest are the wrong answers. However user may tick all the right ones and also tick couple of wrong answers (eg user mayWhat I want is when user selects only the correct boxes (B, D, E, H) answer equals 1 point (right answer).A, C, E, G equals 0 point (wrong).B, D, E, H and combination of other checkboxes equals 0 point (wrong answer).A, C, F, G and combination of other checkboxes equals 0 point (wrong answer).A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H equals 0 point (wrong answer).I need a method using actionscript 2.0 to work this out. I think I've worked out the first part where user selects only the correct boxes (B, D, E, H) equals 1 point, and if user only selects the wrong boxes (A, C, F, G) equals 0 point. But I can't work out other parts. I tried using logical || (OR), but does not seem to work properly.
Frame one has three draggable movie clips and three finishing locations (one clip per location), it also has one a button (Check answer)A user can drag any of the three clips to any location and then click Check Answer.Check answer then runs an action that if the clips are in the right places, it goes to frame 2, if they are not, it goes to frame three where a Reset button is provided. In either case, a message is displayed.
On frame 3, I want people to be able to change the positions of the clips and select Check answer and have it check the answer again. Currently it's letting me move the clips, but even when I put them in the right places, it still tells me it's wrong.[code]...
I've created a form-like input to receive user input in the form of text in a frame. Now, I would like to pass that input into an external text file. I hope to get help to implement this. Let's assume that this app will be only used locally and not over the web.
I have created a simple game which asks young children to spell in a text input box the image they see - typically banana, apple etc. I have a text input box into which they spell the word. A button they click to check their answer and a dynamic text box which displays either Wrong or Well done. The code I have applied to the button is pasted below:
on (press) { if (answer1.text.indexOf("banana") != -1) { show.text="well done"; } else {show.text="wrong"; }}
The problem I am having is that if they have a variant of the answer in the input text box it displays correct. For example, with the code above, the following answer would receive a correct response - "bananananananan". Is there any way to slightly tweek the code so that they need to spell the exact word? I have noticed that this works the same for simple maths questions. 5 + 5 with an answer of 1000 will give a correct response because somewhere in the answer is 10.
My project is to get a input text from user and user can check their answer by simply click on the button check, if their answer is true a message "good job" will be display. but,my code have an error.check this code 4 me? .
ans1_box.restrict = "0123456789"; var setUpProblem:Function = function():Void {
I have made a text field and a button. The button has the following script applied: on (press) { if (textbox.text.indexOf("batman") != -1) { gotoAndStop(2); }} This is taken from a tutorial and works, but it sends me to frame two if I type in "batmannnnnodppsidjssnakd" for example. Could I easily make this just respond if the textbox ONLY contains batman?
I'm making a quiz in flash that loads random images with questions (50 in total) and I want to check if someone answers right (obvious). I'm using this script to check if you answer correctly: PHP Code: if (answers[randomnumber].selected){ score++; }
The answers is an Array with the correct answers. The random number is this: PHP Code: var high:int = 50; var low:int = 1; var randomnumber:int = (Math.floor(Math.random()*(1+high-low))+low) The .selected is because it uses radio buttons. But it doesn't work! For testing I modded it so that you get the same question every time and I answered the same every time (correctly) but it says that I don't have everything right?
I am an educator and I am designing an interactive activity for my students. I created two buttons named button_B and button_G, and an input textfield named in_Text.when a student presses button_B, the letter "B" is entered into the input text field; if a student presses button_G, the letter "G" is entered into the input text field. More than one letter entry is acceptable as a student's answer: for exmple the entry BBB, BGB within the input field is okay.I have no trouble writing AS3 to accomplish this task, however:For a student's solution to the input text field to be correct, it has to contain the four values BBB, GGG, BGB, and GBG in any order. I created an array named solution_S with these values. I also have an enter the solution button named enter_btn. The student can check their solution by pressing the enter_btn button; if the input textfield is correct, the quiz moves on to the next frame in my timeline; if it is incorrect, it moves to a different frame in my timeline.
i'm trying to get a Flash form to test certain conditions, one of which is the full date (ie 2006 as opposed to 06), but the AS below (in bold) isn't working... does anybody know the right script?
on (release) { if (!name.length) { text.emailstatus = "please enter your name";
i have several check boxes and input texts on stage and would like to null out their values with a reset button but seem to be having issues, can anyone take a look
