I've created a form-like input to receive user input in the form of text in a frame. Now, I would like to pass that input into an external text file. I hope to get help to implement this. Let's assume that this app will be only used locally and not over the web.
View 0 RepliesI have a Input text area set up for a contact form. I want the area to display "Email", and for the alpha to be 50%. When you click on the text field to put in your email address, I want the original value to be removed and for the alpha to reset to 100%. I've been able to accomplish this fine so far using the code below; the problem is that I only want the value to become blank again if the user hasn't entered in information yet (this way if the user wants to come back and change something, it won't all be deleted when the text area is clicked on). I tried using an "if" statement, but Flash seems to just ignore it and perform the function either way.
Here is the code that I came up with:

I work in webdesign, video, 3D and illustration and this personal project eats my free time You should set the answers and questions in the XML file called "bdenglish.xml", it contains a basic example. The bot will understand the new nodes. Actionscript(FLA) processes the user input text and search for an answer in the XML file. The bot can understand several ways to make a question. Also it can memorise the conversation subject if you use XML propierties (It is unfinished) The user can use ENTER key or the SEND button. The bot can know the genre of the user because it is male like default, but it search in a female names list. The output field answer is HTML text, also it support images, animations or sounds. The bot can chat in several languages. You can synchronize video with the answers (bot expression), I am woking in a basic function with video.
I am workin in a alternative answer motor, it would work with the XML. I want to use lipsync in the future for a talking version. How it works? - The bot converts the XML database to an multidimensional array.- The user writes a question - This input is processed in the AS code - The bot searchs in the multidimensional array - The first word must be found - The bot answer the question or it responds something if the question is not found I am not programmer and the AS3 bot was hard for me, but it works. Is there a way to pass the textfield A text to a dynamic text input (flash) as I'd like to use the font embedding flash offers. I can make it work when loading a value from a txt file but I'm not sure how to access the value identified above as KitGroupID_16_TextOption_38 and make it appear in a dynamic input box. Eventually I might want to have 3 font choices for the user but I'd like to just see if I can get this working properly first.
I am currently creating an application with multiple pages. These pages have several textInput instances on which the user enters data into. There is a final page that asks the user to confirm the data they have entered which is a page full of dynamic text fields that should display the previously entered data. What I need to do is, to be able to pass whatever is entered into my textInput instances and pass that data to my dynamic text fields to be displayed as text on that final confirmation page.

I need to know if i did something wrong in the programming or if the issue is in fact with godaddy. It should be a very simple look over for any intermediates/veterans.
Also, I am still beginner in working with server side scripts from flash, I know that in oreder to get this to work appropriately i need to use sendAndLoad, but, I am not familiar with the method and can't figure out how to pass the text to ASP to get it to send.

[URL] I have everything in the text inputs being passed correctly, but I would also like the email sent to contain a small amount of text, that the user does not input, to explain why the recipient has just received the email. The problem is that when a customer tries to use the form and clicks into one of the text fields it jumps back out! the funy thing is it only seems to happen after they have been to and viewed my gallery page which is xml ? Additional requirements are the times disappearing after the session has started as well as session times 13-16 being displayed as a separate .swf (first class seating)So i guess my main question is "can i dynamically load text from a multi-line txt file without editing the txt file to include variable assignment? ('content=' etc)" the txt file generated is intended for an led display and is apparently a Texas Instruments standard.

I have an input field with the var name "chosenloc" in the same scope as the timeline I'm working in. I've set the input field var in code, on the fly, and by entering a number right into the field.
I have started to use input texts and passing them to outputs etc.I was wondering, is there a way in AS2, to, for example if someone enters a value that's between 150 and 200. Accepts it, and the code somehow recognizes the range if value from 150 to 200, perform a function (for example setProperty on something to visible true) a different function would apply if someone enters a value between 100 to 150.
View 10 RepliesI have another question for the masses out there regarding trying to input values from a text input box to a custom class. I currently have a custom class named Company with properties that correspond to values in a MySQL database.
So I created an input UI on the client application that calls out for Address, Name, Zip, Phone, etc. - Then there is a button to submit to values to the database for creation. Here's my question:
How do I take each individual textinput.text property and 'mesh' them all together to a Company object to send to the server? The PHP that is written takes in an argument like this:

I'm fairly new to Flash (over the last few months I have followed Actionscripting in books and online tutorials and can do basics by essentially following the recipes, but am having considerably more problems putting it all together for my own program).
I am trying to create a program for my students that will take their text input in fields like author, title, publisher, date, place of publication, etc. and output bibliography citations in the proper format (complete with punctuation). What is the best way to handle the text formatting to add punctuation and make the citation entries? Your text tutorial on color and other properties is very good, as well as the input text that returns the words, but how do I go one more step to add my punctuation to the user's input?

I did check the values by making the flash view, they are the same but its still not running as i want it to.
