But how to access this variable in another mxml component. I want the selected project's name in that component's text area. I even created an instance of the first component and using that called the selectedProjects variable. But I do not get the value updated in the text area.

View 1 RepliesI created a somewhat custom Spark button by doing the File > New > MXML skin and basing it on spark.components.button. The problem is that I need to add an extra text field to the button component and dynamically change that text...but of course, the property isn't recognized on a Spark Button.
Is there a simple way to add this field to my custom button skin & its property so it can be addressed? If not, is there a simple way to take what I've done and just extend the Spark Button? I can't seem to find any examples that show how to do it without writing it all up in ActionScript.

I made all the corrections in my code and got a working one. But what I really want to do is not adding texts into one text field. I need to get the numbers which is written by users into text boxes and then use their inputs to make some calculations. (Like 3+6=9 ). When I assign numbers to variables Ican easily make calculations but what I really want is not that. the numbers should be entered by these text boxes. I think need to change "string" to "number" but when I do this I get error message. I am planning to use the calculation result in some other part of my code. I am wondering if using "return" function useful for me to get the number (the result) of calculation?

Is there a way to pass the textfield A text to a dynamic text input (flash) as I'd like to use the font embedding flash offers. I can make it work when loading a value from a txt file but I'm not sure how to access the value identified above as KitGroupID_16_TextOption_38 and make it appear in a dynamic input box. Eventually I might want to have 3 font choices for the user but I'd like to just see if I can get this working properly first.
I am currently creating an application with multiple pages. These pages have several textInput instances on which the user enters data into. There is a final page that asks the user to confirm the data they have entered which is a page full of dynamic text fields that should display the previously entered data. What I need to do is, to be able to pass whatever is entered into my textInput instances and pass that data to my dynamic text fields to be displayed as text on that final confirmation page.
View 4 RepliesIf you have two textareas, one has a rotation value besides 0 and the other has no rotation value or a value of 0 and you 'tab' focus from the one w/rotation to the one w/out. The border around the textArea w/out rotation will be rotated. If you set the rotation value of the non-rotated text field to a non-zero number, even 0.01, it fixes the problem, this causes tons of other problems in text rendering though so its not a solution.
I found setting the focusThickness style to 0 removes the border, which is a good solution but not a great one, anybody got a better one? Here is some sample code:

View 1 RepliesI have an empty textbox with the basic scroll bar component. Nothing is in the text box so the arrows are greyed out on the scrollbar. I have a button that loads text into the textbox, but the component does not update itself to accomodate text that is larger than the text box.
how can I make it so that the scrollbar changes when text is added.....also If I put text in the text box in flash, when I publish it gets the scrollbar fine, but it will not adjust itself when I click on the button that loads different text into the text box. what happens is the scroll bar stays the same regardless on the size of the loaded text.
