Oct 29, 2009I'm trying to modify the text of a Label component that I already placed on the stage in as3. I'm having trouble getting the text to change though, it just stays the same based on the initial text I typed in. I'd like to eventually have the label contents change dynamically. When I compile the swf, the two labels have the original value I gave them when I put them on the stage, not the startDate and endDate values.
My code looks like:

Motion Tween - Text To Decrease Size And Modify Alpha
May 28, 2009I am new to flash but I have used motion tween before with Flash CS3. Now I need a text to decrease size and modify alpha so I wrote the text (one word), converted it to symbol (movie clip), create 2 key-frames (larger size, alpha 30% -> small size, alpha 100%) and "create motion tween" between. But it doesn't work i don't know why! This time I use Flash CS4 and I was wondering if there are some presets or something that I don't know. The arrow that suppose to appear between the frames doesn't ..only the frames change color.

Dec 24, 2009I can change the color of the label in Flex Builder, I can even BIND the color to a variable and that works, but I can't find the Color PROPERTY in order to change or reference it programatically! Jan 27, 2011I created a somewhat custom Spark button by doing the File > New > MXML skin and basing it on spark.components.button. The problem is that I need to add an extra text field to the button component and dynamically change that text...but of course, the property isn't recognized on a Spark Button.
Is there a simple way to add this field to my custom button skin & its property so it can be addressed? If not, is there a simple way to take what I've done and just extend the Spark Button? I can't seem to find any examples that show how to do it without writing it all up in ActionScript.

Dec 12, 2003I have an empty textbox with the basic scroll bar component. Nothing is in the text box so the arrows are greyed out on the scrollbar. I have a button that loads text into the textbox, but the component does not update itself to accomodate text that is larger than the text box.
how can I make it so that the scrollbar changes when text is added.....also If I put text in the text box in flash, when I publish it gets the scrollbar fine, but it will not adjust itself when I click on the button that loads different text into the text box. what happens is the scroll bar stays the same regardless on the size of the loaded text.

Aug 3, 2010I've been working on a project that's about 500k for the .fla, and 36k for the .swf
On my latest export and save, the .fla is coming up 25k, and the the .swf is 120k - 120k is wayyyy too big for what I'm doing. The fla seems to be all intact even though it's only 5% of what it used to be.
I haven't changed any of the publishing settings.
I tried loading an older version of the project (from a month ago). When I export that version, the swf also comes out at about 120k instead of 36.
I'm using CS5, and have only had it a few days (was using CS4) - is there some new function that could affect the file sizes so drastically? It's strange, as it was exporting fine until about an hour ago.
Flash :: Flex Relative Size Component, Fixed Size Border?
Mar 3, 2011I want to create a panel (or any other component) inside a component that has a 5 pixel border on all sides, but scales fully when the window is resized. I know I can set width to "100%" to make it resize, but that gives me no borders. If I put it to "95%",I have borders, but they scale annoyingly. Also, that only works for borders on the right or lower bounds, and not to the left or upper sides.Is there a convenient way to do this without having to write tons of resize-code (in which case I will not bother and just accept bad rescale behaviour, as it is for a private pet project).
EDIT: I know that I can just overwrite the display handling and set the positions manually every frame. I wondered if there is a cheap way to do it in the mxml-structure, along these lines:

Coming from C++ and Java, I am intrigued by the option of setting something to "95%" and let the library work out the details, instead of having to write many lines of code, just so my text-area always keeps a 5 pixel distance from the border, but scales with window width.If there is no easier way to do it than figuring out pixel sizes by hand and setting the coordinates.
