ActionScript 3.0 :: Checking Contents Of Text Fields - User Input?
Jun 18, 2011
I am just trying to check the contents of text field that the user can enter text into.
Here's the code:
btn_check.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, checkAnswer);
function checkAnswer(evt:MouseEvent):void {
if (answer.text=="48%") {
messageBox.text="CORRECT";
} else {
messageBox.text="INCORRECT. TRY AGAIN.";
}}
Just wondering where I find a list of what can be error checked in input text fields?I'm looking for things like...- checking that letters and not numbers are entered- checking that an entered number is in a certain range
I'm working in Flash Builder and Catalyst CS5 building a project that will aid technicians in finding policies and tools easily. One area that I want to focus on is the note taking section. I want the user to beable to input text and then have a "Copy Notes to Clipboard" button that will gather all the data from those input fields and store them in theclipboard. This way all the agent has to do is paste into the note section on their service ticket.The following is an example of the fields that it would require.Name:Phone Number:Issue:Symptoms:Troubleshooting Notes: also want the label for the text field to be included within the notes. So when someone pastes the notes it won't be just the contents, but will include the name of the text area as well. "Phone Number: 555-123-4567" instead of just "555-123-4567."
how do i check the answer that enter by user.... the marks is given by checking whether they user key in the keywords or not... i m thinking of using string method...but i not able to do it...
I was wondering if anyone could please send me info user input text fields. I was wanting to set up a section in my flash site where the user
a) types in their name in first field b) second field they type in their email address c) third field they type in their email message and then hit a submitt button to make their message reach me!
I have created a simple Flash file using actionscript 2 (CS3) that allows a user to enter text into an input text field and then print the results. Now what I want to do is allow the user to save the information they've typed in a file of some sort. I would prefer a .pdf, but I'm not married to that format.

I'm creating a form in Flash MX and I need to created a script that check if the two passwrod text intup field are the same or not, if they are the same it will go to one frame and is they don't match it will go to a diferent frame. I need to created another script that will check if the text input field for the email has the symbol @ and .com, if this is true or false it will go to one frame or another.
I want the user to enter text in the input textbox field. Any text. There is no correct answer. My existing code below--leaving empty quotations--doesn't work. on(release) { if(InputBox.text = " "){ this.gotoAndStop(2); } else { gotoAndStop(3); }}
I am a newbe to Flash and I have built a flash file that ends up with user input fields which write data to my 1shoppingcart autoresponder. From 1shoppingcart I got the HTML code to capture my website visitors name, email & phone number.
When I try to submit the information from my new flash website it does not work and when I did a trace on the application all of my variables seem to be working correctly but not in the same sequence as I had added them to the Actionscript. The only other difference on the trace is at the end of the correct post I get the following fields. bh_is bh_fv bh_fx bh_iw bh_ib
Working on a simple dog and pony show that needs to fake some password entry. I'm in Flash CS3 using AS2.0.
I have an Input Text field named "txt_pinnums" and its line type is set to Password. It has a variable of "pinpassword".
All I want to do when "btn_ok" is pressed is check that the numbers entered on the keypad that are now in the input text field equal "1234". It seems though that the value of that field is a bunch of HTML, not simple characters. Here is what I have:
I'm sure my AS is not that good, but as I said this is just a simple show and tell demo that will be thrown away. How can I test that the input text equals 1234? If I do a trace(pinpassword) I get a bunch of HTML in addition to the characters entered.
Also, one syntactical question. I tried this:
PHP Code:
btn_ok.onRelease = checkPin;
But that doesn't work... that type of thing works in JS though. Curious as to why it doesn't work.
I have four text input boxes, and I need to be able to script it so that when the "Done" button is pushed each of the boxes are checked for the right input. I've tried two different methods, neither of which work or the answer is automatically correct.
I'm making a form in flash for an application I'm building. In the Email text input, I want to check that the user has entered a real email address. Obviously as long as its text@text.text then I'm happy. How do I check what the have entered a valid format?
So, what I'm trying to do can't really be that hard, I still can't get it to work properly...
So, I have two textfields and one button. Whenever I type a set message into one of the textfields and then press the button, I want the other textfield to return another set message. Probably the trickier part: this should work both ways.
I am embarrassed to admit that I am still working in Flash 6. But I am. I do not have the ability to upgrade at this point. I have created a contact form and all is working, but the input text is invisible to the end user. Oddly, anything that is typed is sent ok, they just can't see anything they are typing!
This is about fill in the blanks in flash 8 as2. In this i used input text fields and three buttons.In first frame i used multiple input text fields and a submit button. After filling all the blanks we click on submit button then in the second frame we will show the result like if the blank is correct it should change the color to green and if it is wrong it should change to red.and in the frame i have check button when we click on it will display all the answers. And when we click on analyse button we have to display the answer which the user types and the correct answers.And my problem is when we click on submit there is no difference in the blanks color all are in black only.
I'm doing a project for an education company that requires the use of a cursive font. The cursive font has many glyphs so that the characters can connect with each other. There are several versions of each letter so that they connect correctly to whatever letter is beside it. The glyphs work fine in InDesign and Illustrator, but not Flash. I tried embedding the entire Glyph set but that doesn't work.
When it loads, my AS3 script generates input type text fields with filler content text e.g. "type your text here."
The problem is, when the user clicks the text field, the content inexplicably moves to the left so that the first several characters are outside the text box and no longer visible. [code]...
I have created 2 textfields: an input textfield at level 0 with an instance name of input_txt and a dynamic txt box in a loaded movie at level 20 with an instance name of output_txt. How do I get the text that is input into level 0 to appear into the textbox at level 20?
I'm creating a form that runs from an external AS file. The code works when placed on the main timeline but not in the AS file where I want it. Here's the code.
var myvar:TextField=new TextField(); myvar.type=TextFieldType.INPUT; addChild(myvar);
I am trying to create a TextField, set its type property to "input," set its format via the TextFormat object, and allow the user to add a label to a movieclip.
Assume you have a button named b_add, and you assign it this code on the main timeline:
The TextField that gets created loses all of its formatting once the user starts typing. It reverts to Time New Roman and doesn't wrap. Do I have something out of order? Should I approach the problem with another solution?
I'm creating a simple quiz which has 3 questions. Each question has an input text field next to it for the user to type their answer. There is also one submit button underneath the 3 questions.
What I'm needing is some actionscript so they can only progress to the next frame by clicking the submit button once ALL 3 text fields have text in it. It doesn't have to detect any specific text, just that there is something put into each one. If there hasn't been, then it'll pop up with text asking them to complete all the questions first.
I have been working on a tool for use in our office which creates XML. The problem is if a user leaves any of the text fields blank, I get only the end tag, for example </text>. This only happens if a text field is blank. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to handle this. Do I have to check every field for data? I am at home now so I can not post the code right now. But basically, I set a variable which holds the XML structure and is filled in with variables from the text fields.
Trying to connect an input text field to a dynamic text field - each with different formatting (font, size and justification). So far I'm just using the properties box to format the text. Using a.2.0. It works easily in a small test, but in a larger .fla, the results dynamic text field retains the formatting of the input field.
I am wondering if there is a way to fill out fields in another website with the input text (or dynamic text) fields from my flash page.
I want to be able to have a sort of 'auto fill' function, where the 'username', 'password' etc. fields in my flash page get transfered to the other website's fields. I had the actionscript set up that looked like:
I am having some trouble figuring out how to work auto-tabbing between input text fields when a user inputs a character. I have a series of text boxes with maxChar set to 1, and when the user inputs a character, I would like it to auto-tab to the next one. I'm putting together a crossword-style banner ad so the auto-tabbing willtremendously. All the input text fields are instanced on the stage as input1, input2, etc; not called in from a custom class.
I can not for the life of me figure out how to change the background color of my input text field,I can change the type and stroke color but in cs3 I see no option for background color, and at the same time have the background opacity lowered so the background of the site can be somewhat showing through. like have the opactity of the background color be at 70-80%.
