ActionScript 3.0 :: Building Flash Site That Ends Up With User Input Fields?

Oct 20, 2008

I am a newbe to Flash and I have built a flash file that ends up with user input fields which write data to my 1shoppingcart autoresponder. From 1shoppingcart I got the HTML code to capture my website visitors name, email & phone number.

<form name="form1" method="post" action="[URL]">
<input name="merchantid" type="hidden" id="merchantid" value="111555">
<input name="ARThankyouURL" type="hidden" id="ARThankyouURL" value="[URL]">
<input name="copyarresponse" type="hidden" id="copyarresponse" value="1">
<input name="custom" type="hidden" id="custom" value="0">
[Code] .....

When I try to submit the information from my new flash website it does not work and when I did a trace on the application all of my variables seem to be working correctly but not in the same sequence as I had added them to the Actionscript. The only other difference on the trace is at the end of the correct post I get the following fields.
bh_is
bh_fv
bh_fx
bh_iw
bh_ib

ActionScript 2.0 :: Create Input Text Fields On A Site Where A Viewer Write?

Jan 18, 2010

I have created a form based on this tutorial by senocular: [URL]..The ide is to create input text fields on a site where a viewer can write his/her name and email address and then press "send". When the send button is pressed an email will be sent to my own email account.

My problem is that the email is supposed to contain only a name and an email address which the user wrote in the form.

[Code]...

I'm guessing it is because I use CSS to set the format on the input text fields. How can I solve this problem?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Building A Site In Flash CS4 And Get TypeError: Error #1009?

Jan 31, 2010

I am building a site in Flash CS4 with AS3. I have one problem, and it seems to me that there are solutions everywhere for that it's just that I don't know how to solve it and implement it. I have 2 swf files. One is preloader and the other is main swf with the whole site. I use this preloader swf to avoid white screen because I have some scripts exporting to the 1st frame. In the main swf I have a single frame (index_mc) containg everything on stage. I am using Lightbox script and it is exported to the first frame. Beside that script I am using some scrollbar script. The problem is that I get #1009 error

IDE :: Building A Site From Scratch

May 4, 2009

I need help building a site entirely on Flash from scratch. I am a beginner at the software, I know what most tools do, I know how to create basic tweens and stuff, but well, all in all, I'm a beginner. I know absolutely nothing on Action Script (be it 2 or 3), and I want very much to learn Flash now. To do so, I want to put online a portfolio site for me. I already know Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects quite well, so I think now's the time to give it a shoot. On to business:

1. So, first, what size should it be? I wanted it to be something around 1024 x 768 maybe? Is it possible to set an adapative resolution for the site? (I don't know if that's the correct term, what I meant is that the site changes resolution according to the users who are accessing it.)

2. I heard that if you don't use ActionScript to animate things, the site gets mega heavy. Is that true? What should I use ActionScript for when building this website?

3. Is it possible to organize the loading priorities? As in, the order in which things load, so that the site gets a bit more dynamic allocating the user's connection?

4. Are there global standards for Flash-based websites?

For now, I guess this is it. I'm starting this project today, so I'm still not quite sure what other doubts may pop up.

Meaning a site structured like this, one page having as many subpages to navigate to as you want (probably just three or four levels in the end, structured in XML)

User Interface - Continuous Flash Music Player While Navigating Site

Jun 16, 2010

I have a site that includes a Flash music player integrated into the layout. I want users to be able to navigate around the site without interrupting the music. I've done plenty of research and thinking and the following are the options I came up with (keeping in mind I want to be as SEO friendly as possible).

AJAX: I set up a version that changes the main content div to whatever nav link they click, thereby not interrupting the Flash player. I set it up in the proper search-engine-friendly manner with direct links and JQuery/Ajax functions. If someone goes to site.com/ and clicks the Contact nav link, it loads what's in the main content div on site.com/contact.php into the main content div and changes the URL bar to site.com/#Contact. The same goes for if they go to site.com/contact.php and click About in the nav, it loads the About content and changes the URL bar to site.com/contact.php#About. Obviously this opens up a whole new can of worms with AJAX and hash navigation/history issues, and I would end up with people possibly linking to things like site.com/contact.php#About (which I think looks terrible and can't be too great for SEO). Store the Flash player vars somewhere and reload them with the page: I'm not sure how to go about this, but I thought about keeping my regular navigation without AJAX and have it so when a user clicks a nav link, before it changes pages it stores the Flash player vars (current song and song position) somewhere, then loads them into Flash when the new page loads. Something with an iframe? Good alternative to a Flash player that will work for this type of application?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Input Fields Won't Allow Certain Characters

Apr 20, 2011

I have a form for signing up for a email newsletter, requesting name, phone number, email, etc. However, for some reason, it won't allow me to enter "3" "4" or the "@" symbol in any of the textfields. You can see how that could be a problem.I'm working with a preexisting site, build by someone else. The SWF on the site doesn't have this problem, (it works fine) but when I create a new SWF from the FLA they got from the previous designer, I have these problems, even before I made any changes.

The site was built with something newer than Flash 8 (I couldn't open it with Flash 8), but older than CS5 (when I save a new version of the FLA, it tells me it will no longer be compatible with older versions of Flash) Could this be caused by that?

the code from the form:

Code:

stop ();
this.tabEnabled;
name.tabIndex = 1;
street.tabIndex = 2;
