ActionScript 2.0 :: Communicating To Swfs Loaded In Movie?

I'm loading movies into my parent movie, and i was wondering if it was possible to communicate between the two - so i could swap out other external SWFs (in the parent) based on input in the loaded movie.I'm still relatively new to Action Script, and have been learning quick, but i have been unsuccessful in my attempts so far.

I want to communicate between a embeded swf and the main swf. I want my main swf to tell the embeded swf to do something like gotoandplay(3)Main.swf loads Sub.swf into a empty movie clip called imageArea._mc.Is it possible to have the main swf tell my sub to do something?[code]
I have a main swf(parent) and a sub swf(child) that I have loaded into the parent swf. I am trying to make a button in the child swf effect the parent swf. I mainly want the child swf to communicate with the parent and tell it to make a movie clip visible and start to play.
I'm using a wordpress theme, and making a flash banner which contains thumbnails that preview different 'projects', i.e. sets of images.
These thumnails will act as buttons. I want the thumbnail to load a generic php page (i.e. the skeleton stays the same for each project) which contains an swf movie which loads content based on the thumbnail clicked.

So if I have several external swfs embedded in one big one, in what way can I communicate between them?Specifically,
-the main swf needs to know when buttons have been pressed in an embedded one, and it needs to tell all the other embedded ones about it.
-the embedded swfs need to intelligently resize and shuffle around each other, while keeping their coordinate origins in the top corner.How do I go about this?
I'm looking for the best method to communicate different swfs embedded in the same html. It would be a simple interaction like passing variables from one to the other.
How to make one swf make another swf play on the timeline, both swf on the same page. I need it so when I rollover the first swf it begins to play the timeline but as soon as I roll over that swf, it causes another swf on the webpage to play its timeline as well.
I am trying to create an fla file which will load and play an flv file. Once the flv reaches the end I then need it to load in another flv file which will then loop continuosly thereafter.
I have found some AS3 code to do this but I need it in AS2 as i also need to get the file to communicate with an audio player file.
Ultimately I need to have the video file hold on loading and then start playing once the audio player has loaded and started playing.

I am building an interface that loads swfs externally into an array(pre-loader) my code places these swfs into a container movie clip on stage when called.I am trying to access the swf that is now a child of the movie clip so i can rewind, pause, and play the swf.Currently they are loading in just fine, but my code isn't able to touch the swf. The swfs also play all the way through when they are loaded so when i change to the next one of the sequence my swf is already at its end frame.

I am currently building an interface that loads externally loaded swfs into a movie clip on stage. I have no problem loading them in and switching between them. I am, however, having an issue accessing the swf, so that i can rewind, pause, and play the loaded swf.

I have finally figured out how to preload, and gotten my main movie to load an external swf properly. My last hang up, is how to speak to that loaded swf, with a button added above it in the main timeline.So, my button is Nextbtn (added via addChild), and my swf is titled "about_mov.swf", when it is loaded, it goes to frame 10 and stops, what I want to happen, is when you click the NextBtn, that loaded swf advances to frame 11. Just not sure how to reference it properly, and hping i can get a quick solution on it.
I have a flash container that loads other flash files that have been made in Adobe Captivate, (essentially just normal SWF files) and on top of that I have other SWF widget files that I have created as it's children to extend default Captivate functionality. So essentially i have 3 'levels' of loaded SWF's.Container -> Captivate SWF -> WidgetThe problem lies in the middle - I don't know how Captivate is arranging its variables, events and loaded children since I don't have access to it's code. What I want to do, is to get my container SWF communicating with the Widget one and vice versa, but I can't get the hiearchy working... I can send values to the "stage" via the widget, but not vice versa.
So firstly, since I don't have the SWF code -- Is there a way to list all variables inside a child or parent so I can work this out?- Is there a way I can tell when a child or parent is triggering an event? (especially when I don't know the names/functions of the event)- and is there any easier way I could be going about this that i'm not seeing?
I have loaded an AS2 swf inside another AS2 swf using MovieClipLoader. I have no control(cannot edit) over the child swf. Is there a way I can communicate with the child swf from the parent swf. The child swf is not accepting any LocalConnection Objects. Can I call a method in the child swf some other way?
I have a base SWF, and I am loading a another SWF into a movieClip array. I need to communicate from the loaded SWF to the base SWF I tried _root but think this only goes to the root of the loaded movieClip? This is what I tried: on (release) { _root.moveContent(2); }
I'm having problems accessing a function that I loaded from a MC I have in my library. Addchild and all that stuff works, I just can't run the function inside these dynamically added movieclips.[code]But the moment I add .myTest(); to them, the one in button clicked works fine, but the other one fails and causes a compilation error.
A problem that I'm having is that any movie I load into my main swf (regardless if I load it into an empty MC or just a higher level) my mouse still recognizes buttons that are underneath the loaded swf. This can be confusing to the viewer as the pointer turns to essentially an invisible button because you can't see the underlying button. Is there anyway to make the Flash player not recognize buttons underneath loaded SWF's or do I have to turn to invisible upon load?
Also, I'm having trouble getting the loaded swf to communicate with the main movie that loaded it. I think I need to use the parent action but I'm not sure how. I'm trying to use code that is created and contained in the movie that it loaded, is this correct?
I have a main fla file which loads an external swf into an empty movieclip on the main timeline which works fine but I want a button in the external swf to load another external swf into another empty movie clip on the main timeline.eg. start.swf loads UKEIAMap.swf into (empty movie clip within start.swf) MapLoader_mc then a button havant_b within UKEIAMap.swf needs to load HavantProjectSheet.swf into (empty movie clip within start.swf) ProjectSheetLoader_mc without unloading UKEIAMap.swf
Flash - 8 : Above is an example of what I would like to do/have done. I've gotten as far as loading the "loaded.swf" into the "start.swf" but my problem is I'd love to use that little loading action I made earlier without copying and pasting into the new movie the same actions for a different link. So, how do I load "loaded2.swf" into "loaded.swf" via the link in "loaded.swf"?
into my main movie i want to load one swf with the navigation into one empty movie clip, in another empty movie clip load the different "pages", how do i talk between the 2 swf files loaded into my main movie, in other words, how do i make the "about" button load the "about" page, and when the different swf files load for each "page" i want each one to load on top of the current one, not to replace it.
What I have is a situation where I need to play some frames on the main timeline, say to frame 5. I place a movie clip symbol in frame 5 which I want to play (all is working fine so far).Once the Movie clip is finished playing, I want the main timeline to start again.In AS2, I would simply put

Now in AS3, I think it should read
root.play();
but I get an error which reads:call to a possibly undefined method play through a reference with static type flash.displayisplayObject
I have a "photo" gallery that loads numerous SWFs through xml, one by one on click. All works fine. All my SWF work fine stand alone. But when I load them into the player, many swf dont work properly.in example, I have textinput textfields in many of the swfs, which work fine on their own but not when loaded into the player. Then I have a word search game that works fine when alone, not when in player. I can see there is something as my mouse cursor changes into the "button finger", but nothing visual.
All drag and drop assigments work fine etc. I have no idea whats up. I have receantly switched to as3 and in as2 there was _lockroot declaration that solved similar problems, but now in as3 (where it supposedly should be automatic) it doesnt work. As it seems that it cannot recognise it own stage value, or selection_focus when loadedinside another swf through xml.Using cs4, as3.
Usually when I want to create multiples instances of a same movieclip (that's already in the main .fla library) I use new mcClassName()but what if the clip is external, for example Ball.fla, Ball.as and Ball.swf? I've loaded Ball.swf into the main .fla and I don't know what to do now
I've made a simple portfolio web site which loads a swf file containing the navigation at the top and then the navigation loads individual swf files containing full page images.The problem is the full page images are distorting very slightly when they are loaded in. I've attached two images, the first image (picture2.png) is how looks when I just open the image's swf file, and the second image (picture3.png) is how it looks after its loaded in by the navigation.
how to unload the swfs in as3 once you click a button to load a new one.
My file works great, with the exception of the videos playing over each other. slight bummer.
I have five buttons that each pull an external swf that is controlled by an xml file. If there were not sound it would not be an issue, but the sound overlaps if you click to the next link before the first video finishes playing.
