I want to create a page turn effect in Flash, but not just simply that... I want the user to be able to search the text, links to be active... Am I better off just using Flash Paper?

Would anyone know how I can make calls into the loaded swfs to trigger them to go to the next page, or report back how many pages the swfs contain? I can't seem to find any documentation on this?

View 1 RepliesI am trying to make a simple Paper page curl effect in Flash. It is animated, but does not need to be draggable. I am NOT looking for a digital magazine type draggable page turn. Just an animated one. I tried using the 3D component in Flash, but got a vey stiff result. I couldn't get the animation to bend, or warp the page. So it looked very flat and stiff. I would like a fairly natural page flip. Something that bends as it turns. There is a plugin in After Effects calle "Page Curl" and that is the basic effect I am looking for, but am trying to recreate it in Flash.

I simply want to make an Interactive scrap book for the school children so that when they click a button(or even Text) on the Home page, that page turns and plays the corresponding video. View 2 RepliesI'll start off by saying I'm a newbie, just putting that out there. How do you make a turn by turn multiplayer flash game? I don't know if an engine is made in AS3, PHP, Javascript, or whatever,I made my game already, it's just that it isn'tmultiplayer yet. Basically, there are lines, and each player crosses out a number of lines, and the last player to cross out a line is the loser. I want it where one user crosses out some lines, then presses End Turn, then the other does their turn and then presses End Turn to allow the other player to move his cursor. But how can I get both players to see the same frame and only have one player have the ability to move the cursor during a turn? Is there some easily adaptable multiplayer engine for flash for newbies out there

This is fine, however, what i want to beable to do is when I click it the page turns and goes to a new page. ( i have made all the other pages)I tried an on(release) but it just doesnt go to the page, it plays the movie clip but I cant get it to navigate aswell..
View 14 RepliesI am working on some dress pattern design tutorials. I would like to show patterns and fabric pieces flip over with a page turn type animation. I am looking for a simple method as it involves doing it to a lot of diagrams. I have been looking at After Effects as I know I can 'page turn' objects. This pretty well produces the effect I am looking for but I feel it should be easier in Flash (Shape tweening morphs the diagram and motion tweening doesn't help) or perhaps video in Photoshop. I don't mind what I use.
My patterns are drawn in Illustrator so importing them would be really convenient. Ideally I would like to fill the shapes with a textile pattern and have the reverse showing with a different texture but this is not essential - just getting the diagrams to turn over smoothly would be really nice.
I have even thought of screen recording the process of dragging the corner of the diagram and flipping it over in some way.
I am happy to experiment but if anyone can point me to the best way forward I would be very grateful. There is nothing worse than spending hours/days working on a way to do things only to find there is a preset somewhere that does it for you.
I am trying to use a button to flip the page rather that using the corners. I have switched the page flipping off using:

I have made an page-flip thing and now I want to add a script that turn the page in the right direction. Ex.If I reading page 9 and want to jump to 10 then Im playing a "turnpagefromtheright"- movie clip. But if I reading page 10 and want to go to page 7 then I want the movie to play a "turnpagefromtheleft"- movie clip.
So I need to compare the current page number with the page number Im going to and if that number is less than the current number I play 1 Mc and if its higher it plays another Mc.
So this is what I want but I dont know how to code it... since Im not as good as you are..

In my flash application I draw in data from an XML. This data is for example 6 lines long in 1 language, but could be 20 in a different language. However the textbox on the screen can only populate 10 lines of text and I'd like to give the option to users to press the arrows to go to the next page (if there is a next page).What are my options to get this 'page'-effect?

View 1 RepliesMy client wants so have a loading animation/movie (already created that in Flash CS5) on the website's start page (root, '/' - the first thing you see when you go to domain.tld).When the animation's finished it should forward to another page (i.e. the real page with the content), e.g. domain.tld/somepage.htm I can do this with, for example, getURL() in Flash and it works fine.
But. Is it possible to kind of preload domain.tld/somepage.htm so the content (almost) instantly appears after the loading animation's finished?Also, a fade-out-fade-in effect would be nice, i.e. the loading animation fades out and the content of domain.tld/somepage.htm fades in.
I have successfully added a Google Map Flash API using AS3 to page turning software that I use but the issue is when I upload it to the server online the Google Map stops all other swf files from working within the book when I turn a page. The map works fine online but removes two pages either side of where the map is placed. Anybody know why this is happening and any solution on how to get it working? Everything within the page turning software works fine when I test it locally so the issue is online somewhere. Maybe I could use something that stops the map from working when the page is changed?

I'm trying to create a specific effect on flash, basically the piece Im struggling with is a ring, imagine a doughnut, inside it for this description is one button, when you click on that button I want a piece of the doughnut to shrink away, cutting a segment of it out, revealing more buttons behind it. I have then created my own camera class. When I tell the camera to move to the right what Im actually doing is telling each layer object to move to the left.
The distance that the layer moved to the left is based on the value of its depth variable...

This works well and gives me a really nice parallax effect. The problem I'm having is that I want to be able to tell the camera to look at a movie clip on any layer but I'm having trouble figuring out how to convert the movie clips coordinates to the cameras depth.
Im trying something like this...
