View 1 RepliesI am using the mctween activated bttn.My bttns are looped and have been defined in a variable.I am trying to get specific onrelease functions such as loadMovie from each button in the loop depending on what bttn is clicked,but instead the onrelease functions is loading movies for all when any bttn in the loop is clicked.Heres my code.
Code:
// Includes the tweening extensions.
#include "mc_tween2.as"[code]....
I'm trying to make sure that if the user clicks, this.button_2 then this.button_2 will load movie2.swf alone not every movie for every bttn in the loop.
I use laco's tween class for a button color fade. A bit like on the Laco navigation itself : [URL]
It works, only, when the mouse moves a little too fast over the button, it delays, like the mouse didn't went over that button, what gives a pretty annoying effect, like a bug... this is the code I use :
menu1.onRollOver = function ()
{
this.colorTo (0xFF0099, 0.1);
}

how can I make one of these tweens go off at a certian frame ? so I can run one after the other and such?? instead of slowing it down with the time it takes to run the tween,
View 3 Repliesit seems to me that when you use laco tweens and callback a function, you can't pass data in that function, because the function won't wait until the tween is finished but is being carried out right away. For instance, I want to tween movieclip MC:

I have a dropfilter defined using some bindable variables as parameters.
<mx:filters>
<mx:DropShadowFilter id="torinofilter" distance="0" color="{dropShadowColor}"
blurX="{dropBlur}" blurY="{dropBlur}" strength="8" quality="2"
[code].....
I've been trying to animate a drop shadow filter and so far have been unsucessful, I tried doing it with a for loop but for some reason that didn't work, I also tried an onEnterFrame but without success either
here's what I've done
for
Code:
var ds: DropShadowFilter = new DropShadowFilter(2, 35, 0x000000, 0, 5, 5, .8, 3, false, false, false);
preloader.filters = [ds];
[Code]....
that doesn't work either..how I can animate the BlurFilter, I just want it to go from an alpha of 0 to an alpha of 60...
I'm using this code into a mouse over and mouse out listener , to change the color of a TextField.
Code:
var ct:Color = new Color();
ct.setTint(0xFF0000, 0.5);
mc.transform.colorTransform = ct;
The problem is that the dropShadow filter associated with the TextField (applied in the flash UI) is gone when this colorTransform applies.
Should I apply the filter dynamically, is that the only solution ??
I was wondering whether it would be possible to perform operations on Filters, specifically the DropShadow filter, such as resizing it (scaleX scaleY).
View 7 RepliesI am wondering how I could create a dropshadow on a container that would give the appearance that the container is lower than its parent. Normally the dropshadow is applied primarily to the outside of the right and lower sides. What I want to achieve is a dropshadow to be applied to the inside of the top and left sides. The idea is to give the appearance that the container is embedded into its parent.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to set up a dynamic flash movie so i can set the color of text with a dropshadow applied using setRGB.
Here is the code i am using to set the text color (simple setRGB call):
var my_color:Color = new Color(this.tagLine_txt);
my_color.setRGB(tagLineColor);
Now here is the problem, setRGB automatically makes my dropshadow color the same as the fill color. The only solution i have found is to stack two identical text boxes on top of one another and then setting the dropshadow on the text behind to black to make it look proper.
I have tried using filter to set the dropshadow color as well with no luck:
// Makes the filter available to use in the Movie.
import flash.filters.DropShadowFilter;
// Creates a variable with info about the Filter settings

I'm trying to remove the gray border/dropshadow from the ScrollPane component, in AS2.

View 2 RepliesI have an input Text Field with the autoSize property set to true, a DropShadow filter, and with a default text value of "Your text here".When the user enters text in the Text Field, and if their entry exceeds the length of the default text, everything typed after that length is reached APPEARS to have been truncated.
However, when I turn the DropShadow off, the TextField expands to the requirements of the newly entered text. This proves that the TextField actually autosized, but just didn't show the additional characters when the DropShadow was applied. I can then turn the DropShadow back on, showing all of the text in the Text Field. how to autoSize a textfield(so that the user can actually see the expanded TextField) when a DropShadow filter has been applied?
I was wondering whether it would be possible to perform operations on Filters, specifically the DropShadow filter, such as resizing it. Are there any known ways to do it?
View 7 RepliesI am using the Laco Tween tweening formula, which can be found here:[URL] OK, I set an MC's width and height to 0, which works, then I try to get the MC to expand to it's width and height with the following tween code:
[Code]....
i am wondering if there is a way to put a delay (seconds) on the flashs' native tween class like you can on the laco tween engine... such as
[Code]...
I looked at the following example in the AS3 Reference: [URL] It is unclear to me looking at the package example how to apply this in standard ActionScript 3 without packages to a Movie Clip resident in my Library that gets called at RunTime. how I would push the DropShadow filter onto my Movie Clip at RunTime?
View 6 RepliesI'm trying to create a series of scripts that will create some custom event listeners.
I have three movie clips on my stage. One is a movieclip who's sole function is to hold array's and the event listeners. A second which moves around the screen. And a third that is motionless.
The problem is that the argument I want to test (which activates the custom event) is held within a string.
What I want to know is, how do you test to see if the string argument is true?
Is it something similar to this:
var myCode:String="1<0";if(myCode){
trace('one is smaller than 0'); //Strangely apparently one IS smaller than 0!!!
}
I think I'm going about this in the wrong manner, however this is the only way I can think of this working... (since I need to be able to dynamically create these events)
I'm trying to create a flash program that uses it's own code to send and create images. Each square has a colour and that colour gets added into the array. A black, then grey, then white is:
filecode = ["Bl", "Gr", "Wh"];
That works fine, but when I try to paste it into an Input text box it will only fill in the first part of the array.
filecode = ["Bl,Gr,Wh"];
So the program has NO idea what I want.The only ways I can think of fixing this is by putting in 402 text boxes to suit every box...But every one of them needs a Variable Name.Or by sending the information straight into the array. But this way you are just looking at what you just drew, and that is not at ALL practical.
Is the only way to create a style sheet to create Objects for each element?
import fl.controls.TextArea;import flash.text.TextField;import flash.text.TextFormat;import flash.text.StyleSheet;
I do this when a user clicks on a MovieClip:
var style:StyleSheet = new StyleSheet();
var heading:Object = new Object();heading.fontWeight = "bold";
heading.color = "#FF0000";[code]...
It is possible to create a menu in the contextmenu making it possible to create a window (component) ?
example:
function tab()
{
}[code]....
OK frame 1 new fla and I type the following code:
[AS]createEmptyMovieClip("clip1",0);
clip1.createEmptyMovieClip("clip2",1);[/AS]
I have tried over and over again to get this to work but it won't! I want to create an empty MC and then create anoth MC within the first!
At the moment I create an onEnterFrame function to ease a movie clip into view. I then delete it. I want to be able to recreate a similar onEnter Frame function later to swoosh the movie clip out of view. At the moment weird things happen when I try and do the second onEnterFrame.I know I could put this all in the original onEnterFrame, but I don't wanna be wasting processor time doing an if statement every frame to work out if it's time to swoosh out the movieclip. Or should I not worry because that's negligible cpu time?
View 3 RepliesI am trying to create dynamic variables. Lets say: I read a file where I have: building, restaurant and hotel.

I've been playing around with custom classes. My objective was to create a custom class (Testing) that would create a box when an instance of the class is created. I've tried three different approaches, however only (3) seems to be showing up. I'm just curious why (1) or (2) doesn't work?
Also is there a better approach than (3)? Since at the moment it's been created on _root. I hope the box can only be accessible through the instance. Since I'd like to incorporate the whole idea of public, private, encapsulation, etc.
[Code]...
create a rollover button that once hovered over would create the snow and once 'un-hovered over' (<---:s) the snow would stop falling. I tried creating the button but kept getting errors etc.... Im a total noob (been using flash for about 1 month) if you could give us a hand that would be great....
View 5 RepliesI am trying to do is create an "app" with flash that will allow an employee of the company to create there business card on the fly. The business card templates will have been pre approved and uploaded into the "system". The employee will be able to choose the card template that he likes the most and edit information on the card template such as Full Name, Title, Office Number, Cell Number, Fax Number, and Email. After he inputs his own information onto this template he will have the option to save the file as a pdf file, that will be used to print his business cards.
View 1 RepliesI'm new to Flash AS3. I started making a game and I am a bit confused. Let's assume that I want to create a game that has multiple levels/modes, how can I do this in an object orientated way?
When i create games in other languages e.g. XNA C#, i create a separate class then create an object of that class within the main class and run the game based on a simple statement.
