I am wondering how I could create a dropshadow on a container that would give the appearance that the container is lower than its parent. Normally the dropshadow is applied primarily to the outside of the right and lower sides. What I want to achieve is a dropshadow to be applied to the inside of the top and left sides. The idea is to give the appearance that the container is embedded into its parent.
View 1 RepliesI scripted a DropShadowFilter to render on my Movie Clip. The MC just consists of static text and its using the Tween class to move on the screen. Can't figure out why its not showing up. I'm using the same method on another movie clip that is just images, and works fine. Not generating any errors either.

I am working on a rollover mapping like page for an instructional demo. Basically, the user rollovers clickable areas and a dynamic text box popups explaining what the link's utility is.
I have all the text dynamically set, there are styles for the text box (ie borders and padding) and then a drop shadow filter applied. However, upon viewing the SWF file the drop shadow does not seem to work consistently. OnRollOut it doesn't always do so and upon OnRollOver a different hotspot the dropshadow will duplicate. The duplicating of the dropshadow will either continue to do so or the OnRollOut will remove the dropshadow and reset the text box as it should.

View 10 RepliesI'm running into an issue where, if the dynamic text field I create wraps and autoSizes to 2 lines or more, the last disappears (sometimes partially). However, this only happens when I apply a DropShadowFilter to it. If I don't apply the drop shadow filter, it renders correctly. Note that whether or not the text renders correctly, flash seems to know that the text has wrapped and autosized, as this is how i assign the Y position of the second text field below it. When i put a dropshadowfilter on a dynamic textfield with html-content, the links (a href) stop working.The textfields rotate in flash 3D space so they have a transformmatrix applied to them. Could this be the reason? Anybody had problems with html-links and dropshadowfilter applied to the textfield? it makes no difference if you put the filter on the textfield itself or the movieclip container around it.

I'm using this code into a mouse over and mouse out listener , to change the color of a TextField.

The problem is that the dropShadow filter associated with the TextField (applied in the flash UI) is gone when this colorTransform applies.
Should I apply the filter dynamically, is that the only solution ??
I was wondering whether it would be possible to perform operations on Filters, specifically the DropShadow filter, such as resizing it (scaleX scaleY).
View 7 RepliesI am trying to set up a dynamic flash movie so i can set the color of text with a dropshadow applied using setRGB.
Here is the code i am using to set the text color (simple setRGB call):
var my_color:Color = new Color(this.tagLine_txt);
my_color.setRGB(tagLineColor);
Now here is the problem, setRGB automatically makes my dropshadow color the same as the fill color. The only solution i have found is to stack two identical text boxes on top of one another and then setting the dropshadow on the text behind to black to make it look proper.
I have tried using filter to set the dropshadow color as well with no luck:

View 2 RepliesI have an input Text Field with the autoSize property set to true, a DropShadow filter, and with a default text value of "Your text here".When the user enters text in the Text Field, and if their entry exceeds the length of the default text, everything typed after that length is reached APPEARS to have been truncated.
However, when I turn the DropShadow off, the TextField expands to the requirements of the newly entered text. This proves that the TextField actually autosized, but just didn't show the additional characters when the DropShadow was applied. I can then turn the DropShadow back on, showing all of the text in the Text Field. how to autoSize a textfield(so that the user can actually see the expanded TextField) when a DropShadow filter has been applied?

View 1 RepliesI am trying to access html files protected by basic authentication. Below is the code to do that but I still get the authentication dialog. I checked the fiddler and found that for the first request authorization header is present but for the subsequent requests which is requested to load the .js, css & images the authorization header is not added. This is the reason I am getting the auth dialog.
Is there a way to add authorization header to the subsequent requests as well?

I have a TabNavigator, and each tab is a Module. One of the modules is labelled Units and the full code of the module is posted in this post. There are several problems:
1) Forms are not populated with data from the datagrid selection.
2) Selecting a row and clicking delete gives the very-common error: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
A trace on the valueObject unit within the selectionChangeHandler function gives NULL. Why? Note: In other modules (other tabs of the TabNavigator), I have DropDownLists populated with units. This means that the valueObject Unit is defined in the other modules. However, valueObjects should be private to modules, and not shared.
