instead of the grid fading horizontally or vertically, have the grid fade diagonally, or have it fade corner square, then left square beside it and top square above it (corner square) at the same time, then the ones beside those etc. as transition for the image below it, for a screen saver (5 or 6 images in a row). Also I was wondering if this diagonal grid (assuming it can be done) can be done with other shapes (instead of squares).

i would like to replace the background color with a tiling background-image. i understand that "graphics." can only fill or draw. i understand the chunk of "graphics." in the code above needs to change to something else, but i am at a loss of how to call the following image: background-image: Embed("images/bg-uneditableField.jpg");
I have searched high and low unsuccessfully. I am a front-end developer just stepping in to our Flex 3 environment and am not a strong javascript/.as person. Note: our application needs to stay in Flex 3, upgrading is not an option at this time.

i'm trying to use global variables, and I make them in a seperate class, just as the linked blog said, but when i want to acces them in other classes, i get an error saying: 1120 : acces of undefined property playerhealth
View 1 RepliesThe problem is that a cannot acces the nodes in the tree using AS3 syntax. My guess is that the problem is nhe namespacing that is making it impossible. I have been sitting for hours trying to set namespaces or removing them, but i just cant get this to work. I can load the XML, but as soon as i try to walk down the tree i get no data output. Here is my actionscript so far:

View 1 RepliesThis is probably easy stuff for most of you guys but have tried to have this working for the past hour and it's not working.I basicly have made my own button which is a movieclip. Inside the movieclip on the normal/roll off state i've put a dynamic textfieldwith instance name "textbtn" my button is supposed to span 2 frames on my mainstage, thought is need to say something different in each frame.
Sofar I have this inside the movieclip on Frame 1:

on my mainstage in frame1 I have:

I have an image gallery with a thumbnail class which needs information about the content being loaded to be able to resize it appropiatly. Using.content.height and .content.width I can acces this information, however the swf (online) stops working when this code is encountered. No errors are thrown.piece of code from where it stops working

I know that there is no such function as getElementByName in Flex but I also now that you can do this["object_id"] to get the element of the application u're in.What about getting an element inside another element?I've tried making element["id"] ? But in my try-catch it always runs the "catch" part..how do I get an element inside another element just having it's id in dynamically created string form?
View 2 RepliesI'm currently working with the OLAPDataGrid component and got stuck at a relatively simple task: I want to style the last row of the grid differently from the rest, so my cell item renderer needs to know whether he's rendering the last row with content in the overall grid, including those rows currently not rendered because they are outside the visible grid space. AdvancedGridListData's rowIndex property only gets me the row index of the renderer relative to the range of visible grid rows, i.e. when I scroll down the grid, a data item with an index greater than 0 gets the rpw index = 0.

Its an empty grid at the begining, when they start the time start as well.Its a grid of 10 x 10. when they enter the last number, the grid should show what they did wrong and the time they spend. I have flash where there is a link for song download. And, at the bottom of the flash I've a count, loaded thorugh flash vars which should increment everytime donload button is hit. Please let me know what approach should i take to do that. can i call a Java method on donload button which will insert a row in the table and and then get the count and render it to the count variable in my flash?
May be this extremely confusing. Here is a very similar example on how it is done. This is actually very similar to what i want to do. [URL] on this link there is count below which increments you hit the download button.
I really like the thumbnail gallery for its simplicity and beauty. But I would like to ad or vertical scroller (I'm unable to find it here too, maybe I'm blind, just I'm more at the end of my seeking options) or a make a grid thumbnails, that will show 2 columns of thumbs and 5 pictures in each columns, then under the 2 columns i would like to ad a sort of arrow or button that if my gallery have more then 10 pictures it will go on the next thumbnail list. I'm not looking for any extra fading effects or special movements. Just would love to have a single thumbnail grid on side, with option to have lists of thumbnails by 10 if there is more then 10 pictures or so.
View 14 RepliesI downloaded a royalty free flash file, that had a text effect I want for a menu of a project of mine. It didn't had much info, so I bought it, only to find out everything is pretty much done with AS2 (I think, may be AS1).
The thing is I want this menu in diagonal position (4�)

How would I go about making diagonal link like this one.I drew a retangle so that my text would fit in, select both text and rectangle, F8 turn into button,then I turn them 45degree. When hover the text change color the way I want, but the problem is that the button enters the hover state way too soon when my mouse isnt over the rectangle yet.Seems like as long as my mouse falls within x and y coordinates of the text then it goes into hover state.For example my mouse is under the diagonal box, not in yet, but right under the text and it would go into hover state.

What I need to do is find the rectangle of a rotated rectangle. I have a house that is diagonal and I need to find the rectangle of the bottom of the house so I can check for collisions. I was hoping to use the rectangles to find intersections. Something like - if (playerRect.intersects(houseRect.bottom){ do something };Every time I try to get the rectangle of a rotated rectangle, all I get is the bounding box which is not rotated.

Basically I have 14 text boxes, each box draws its content from an external txt file. Next to each text box is a button. I want the button to be either visible=true or visible=false depending on weather or not the text box has content or is "undefined" Here is what I have so far, and it's not working:[code] I would like a FOR loop to just run through the variables and check to see if any of them are undefined. if it is, then make the correct send button invisible.

I have built a grid using an array and for loops and attach movieclips dynamically to that grid. What I want the moviclips to do is to look in the four spaces either side of itself i.e. up, down,left and right.I have managed to pull the grid coordinates out of the grid which enables me to tell the clip which grid space to look at but have been unable to successfully get the code to work.Here is my code:
