View 1 RepliesI have an interactive presentation which will have a small barker video with audio in the corner which will play through and loop as the user is moving through the presentation. On some screens of the presentation, I won't have room for the video, so I'll need to hide the video, but continue to play the audio from the same point.I thought the easiest way to accomplish this would be to just use a "skinless" FLVPlayback component which I could then just set to visible=false when I need to hide the video.
However, the FLVPlayback component seems to want a URL to an external FLV file. I would prefer to just include the FLV in the FLA's library, so that I don't have to keep track where the external FLV is, or make sure that the published SWF can find the folder where the external FLV is stored.So, is there a way to point FLVPlayback.source to an FLV asset in the Library instead of giving it an external URL?I realize I could just import the FLV to the library and add it to the stage manually at authortime;

View 1 RepliesThe problem is that a cannot acces the nodes in the tree using AS3 syntax. My guess is that the problem is nhe namespacing that is making it impossible. I have been sitting for hours trying to set namespaces or removing them, but i just cant get this to work. I can load the XML, but as soon as i try to walk down the tree i get no data output. Here is my actionscript so far:

Inside the movieclip on the normal/roll off state i've put a dynamic textfieldwith instance name "textbtn" my button is supposed to span 2 frames on my mainstage, thought is need to say something different in each frame.
Sofar I have this inside the movieclip on Frame 1:

I have an image gallery with a thumbnail class which needs information about the content being loaded to be able to resize it appropiatly. Using.content.height and .content.width I can acces this information, however the swf (online) stops working when this code is encountered. I am doing some research on creating clcikTags. I read a few places that the clcikTag should be on the top layer. That has been fine, but now I want to loop it and I usually put my actions in the top layer. Will this cause a problem? Am I better off just putting my loop action on the last key frame of the clcikTag layer?
View 3 RepliesIm creating a program that is designed to allow the used to select 3 pictures (movie clips) and print them off on a single peace of paper.
The program works by allowing the user to select 3 graphics (the graphics are actually instructions for various exercises) and then moving the desired movieclips onto the stage. This all happens on a layer named "Content"
So far the program will allow the user to select the movieclips and will move them into place on the Content layer as well as move smaller versions of the pictures into a preview box the only thing it does not do is print. (the most important bit)

I want the oval to travel from the upper left down to cover up the type. When I create the second layer, create the oval, and choose a distant frame for the "end" of the oval's positioning, my type in the first layer disappears as soon as I press F6 on that second layer. Why? Why is it nuking my first layer?
View 3 RepliesI have a container MovieClip called Drags where I can drag stamps (other MovieClips)--they are added to the Drags container via addChild. I have a second container MovieClip above that one (display order-wise) call Paint that contains a bmp, and some sprites used for adding a layer of paint.
My question is this: I need to be able to click on the Paint layer when I am above a draggable MovieClip and trigger the MouseEvent for the correct object to drag it around, but the item must always remain below the Paint layer.
I'm trying to do a little comic comedy type video in Flash. I've done an outline sketch with the pen tool of my first character, now I want to color it BUT I want to keep the colors and the outline sketch separated on two different layers. Is there a way I can select the path (outline) on layer A and then colorize it with the bucket tool on layer B? The problem I'm having is that every object I select it automatically jumps to that corresponding layer.
One reason why I want to do it this way is I still want to continue working freely on the outline sketch since it's not fully finished, so that I just can blend the colors out and keep working on the outline, at the same time I want to color it while I go just to see where it's going and to make sure that I'm not wasting my time unnecessarily with trying to do a outline just to find out that it won't work out at the end.

Is it possible to add layers, re-order layers, move movieclips from layer to layer or specify which layer a duplicate movieclip appears on at runtime with AS3?I am aware of the depth properties and the functions associated with that but it would be easier to have a concept of a layer because I am dealing with masks.I have a nasty feeling I'm gonna be told that layers don't really exist within an swf and that depths and setmask are all there is to work with.

so, basically,i am checking to see if the cancel button component in the Child component, while i am still in the parent Compoent, was clicked, if it was clicked, call the cancelButtonHandler. The problem is by the time the addNewChild handles the event, that cancel button was still null. My question is how do i solve this without using the itemCreationPolicy on the cancel button?
i found plenty of tutorials and posts on loading and using external stylesheet, but i find it slows down my app for no reason, im only using 2 styles. i was using an internal css in as2 but cant get it working in as3. how to use internal css in as3?

The movie clip is text that's located in a mc, that i can fade in the text when the parent mc is called (meaning, text in a mc in a mc).
How can I do this actrion, where each time the button is pressed the mc will load? tried a few things such as loadmovie, attachmovie, but some how it doesn't work for me.
I gave my parent mc an instant and tried with the butoon calling it. didn't work.
