ActionScript 2.0 :: Dynamic Autoscroll Flash Gallery Through Xml?
Sep 29, 2010
Here is the code for Dynamic Autoscroll Flash Gallery.In all images are loaded dynamicaly from xml.In this all the images should of same size.The Movie clip in the stage should be of image size.
i literally scoweredthe net for a week or 2 and still i cant make it..
ok heres the thing..i am making a program that will receive a TEXT MESSAGES. When the program received new message, the message will be display in flash and scroll the message up and IT WILL ONLY scroll up again if there is a NEW message received. by the way, I load my text suing text file Loadvars.
I have a VBox who dynamically adds and removes children programatically. The height is set to 100% and verticalScrollPolicy=auto.When a user wants to add another child to that Vbox, I want it to autoscroll to the bottom of the VBox since that is where the child is added.
I've tried every solution I could find online, but no matter what, the verticalScrollPosition and maxVerticalScrollPosition are both ALWAYS equal to 0. Even if I manually scroll to the bottom of the VBox and press a button that alerts these numbers.(Even after 'validateNow()' as well).
The only time I can get these numbers to change programmaticaly is when the VBox height is set in pixels, which I don't want since the children all have varying heights.Plllease tell me that it's possible to set verticalScrollPosition without hard coding the height in pixels? Am I missing something totally obvious here?
Ok, this should be a simple problem but I am clueless. I have a textbox called msg_ui and some code that places text in it every so often. When new text is placed I just want the textbox to scroll down so I can see it.
how to build a dynamic photo gallery with an integrated content managenent system.the only results that i found are concerning a gallery updatable via ftp and modifying the xml file.
First of all congratulations for you all who made this forum the best Flash Forum, as you can see this is my first post and I have a doubt about a Flash+XML gallery. Presently I'm working in a simple website for a car seller. The offers section is composed of two main parts. First part is a clip (MC_AllCars) where is dynamically loaded "thumbnail + description" for each car found in the XML file. I get this with a couple of "for" loops. With this loops I read and extract the data, and then I put it with attachMovie in a movieClip used as template. This part isn't difficult to develop, but second is more difficult (for a newbie actionscripter like me).
The second part is other movierClip (MC_CarDetails) working as another template. In this template would be loaded all the car details It would be like this:
I have created a slider menu that moves when the arrows are clicked on either side. The images for this menu are loading dynamically from an xml file onto a 'container' in my fla.I need desperately to also be able to add text underneath those pics.
Code is : import com.greensock.*; import com.greensock.easing.*;
My Flex datagrid automatically scrolls to the top when I update the dataProvider (ArrayCollection). I do not want this to happen, but I still want all of the objects to update. I am developing a semi-real time dashboard for a customer's management system, that will update often. If it scrolls to the top every time it updates, it will be very difficult and frustrating to use.I've attempted to use the following techniques to prevent this, none have worked.
I've attempted to dispatch a mouse event to hold the vertical scrollbar in place, I've attempted to lock the vertical scrollbar position value in place (saving and reassigning)..

i m using flash on a module of Joomla to display images, i embed flash player code into javascript , it fetch images from an XML files wher images are predefined and it works fine, now i have a problem that i m collecting images from database, means images are dynamically, so i m unable to fetch that images an display on flash, i just want to knoe how to add dynamic image array into flash. do i need to create xml??
I am trying to build an image gallery that will be dynamic, for example if a person will choose show me image gallery of products of price over 200 $ , he will see those products only, if he will choose back he will see all products images again... for better understanding what i need to do is something similar to this : [URL]
Im a noob at flash and am stuck making a photo sideshow application. I would like to be able to point the flash file at a folder of images, which are then all put into the slideshow and played through.
Does anyone know where to find examples, tutorials or source files on how to integrate flash with backend to create a dynamic image gallery that can easily be updated?
I'm having some problems with the XML/FLASH Photo Gallery Tutorial ([URL]). When I load the swf file into another movie the dynamic text will not display. Any thoughts to why this is happening.
I'm trying to build a Flash gallery that would load a variable amount of images and create a scrolling gallery, with pop-up previews of each image. Essentially, something like this (left/right scrolling arrows, hovering popup preview) but I want it to be AS3 as that's what I'm focusing on learning. I'm quite new to this and not from a coding background, so pardon my question if it's redundant but I've searched for something non-XML based and couldn't find it. If someone could explain to me why XML-based dynamic galleries are better then perhaps I could convince my web-developer coworkers, but for now they've requested a stand-alone Flash app. We need a generic gallery we can use on various sections of our site.
I really appreciate your help. If the pop-up preview and the dynamic loading are 2 different tutorials, fine by me, I just don't feel I have the knowledge or resources to pull this off on my own yet.
I've made a gallery slideshow before but wasn't as intuitive looking back at it now and I want to start fresh on this new project. I would like to convert a jQuery lightbox style gallery into a flash XML based AS3 image gallery with categories. I don't want to code the FLA, I want separate AS files.
This is a school project for my website. I would use jQuery and I have more experience with it but this project needs a flash component. I'm just not sure where to start and looking for some advice on how and where I could find resources. I want it to be minimal as I can make it;
- 8 thumbnails to a "page/section" with more flowed into page 2 or 3 etc. (or a srcoller)
- a few buttons for categories
- images fading in full size with a description when hovered over and a close button
- preloader (simple bar)
Esentially something like this > http:[url].........works which is using http:[url].... for the thumbnails. That might be ambitious but I'd suffice with a simple fade effect.I've downloaded some galleries out there but most of the code is messy or outdated.http:[url]... this is alright, but all the code is done in the FLA. I might break it into AS files but it depends.
Trying to make a dynamic gallery that pulls images (along with names and dimensions) from different folders on the server. Want clients to be able to drop new images into these folders and have them pulled into the gallery dynamically. Do I need to use PHP as I did with AS2? or can AS3 pull the image names and dimensions from the folders on the server?
I have a dynamic thumbnail gallery that laods thumbnails from db/xml and also each thumbnails associated main image. When the user rolls over the thumbnail the larger image displays to the right.
THis is all working fine however I need to update the script to change the thumbnail gallery layout from a 3 column 2 row gallery to a 4column 4 row gallery.I've adjusted the as and resized the thumbnails to allow for this and setup a 8px spacer between thumbs
Just thought I'd see if this is possible with the XML Photo Gallery.1. Is it possible to create a dynamic border for the loaded image depending on the size of the image being loaded? 2. Is it possible to move the Y position of the caption text box depending on the height of the loaded image? ie if the image is 200 pixels high, then the text box should be positioned at 220 pixels.The current code I have which loads the images then automatically scrolls through them is:
been playing around with the bitmap data class for a while, and i got to a point when i realized i was never gonna be saticfied with it... so im releasing the site as it is today
I have been looking for a while on the web, but somehow, the answer Does anyone knows a comprehensive tutorial on how to build a dynamic photo gallery with an integrated content managenent system.the only results that i found are concerning a gallery updatable via ftp and modifying the xml file
i am trying to put some things together following the tutorials on this site. I did the tutorial 'Photo Gallery Using XML and Flash'and I followed it step by step and uploaded it with all the necessary files onto my remote server (xml file, Gallery folder, fla, swf, and html) - however, when I test the movie with flash, it seems to work fine (except the description test, my question to that later), but when I test it online it shows only the first image (but displays the correct number of images in the gallery); even when clicking the next button, it keeps loading the first image the first image. In other galleries (I use the structure for multiple galleries for my portfolio) the first image never loads at all.
Also, about the description text, in between the <caption> and </caption>, can I use <strong> and <em> and <br /> to change the appearance of my text? All it says is 'null'.If you want to look at what I mean check out my portfolio in the making. The problem with the first image displaying only is under 'paintings' and both the projects in 'design - packaging'. The second problem (no picture loading at all) is on some of the buttons in 'design - identity' (where I have not changed the description text of the tutorial yet). Again,
