Im a beginner at flash video, and have been using the built in FLV component which I can apply actionscript fades to easily. However I don't seem to be able to use them when I use the better method... NetStream. Here is an example fade:

I am using Flash 8 - trying to get started by simply fading in/out using Alpha. I totally get on the first layer converting image to movie, inserting key frame and motion tween, selecting clip and changing alphato 0%. Where I am absolutely lost - is when it comes the second, third, fourth and fifth image. I have tried inserting new layers and repeating the steps - but for some reason 2-5 images do not transition like image one.

View 2 RepliesSo I've been following URL... lovely "Flash Video Basics" tutorial and have encountered some issues which have eventually brought me to a brick wall.After seeing this error regularly:"1061: Call to a possibly undefined method attachVideo through a reference with static type flash. media: Video."I followed someone's advice to use attachNetStream() instead of attachVideo, which worked for a bit..Then I encountered an problem in which the audio would play, but no video. This led me to another forum which suggested that all the script I was trying to use (taken from the tutorial) was actually Actionscript 2.Changing my export to use Actionscript 2 instead of 3 fixed some problems but created others. I'm feeling like at this point I have to give up on the tutorial and just get friendly with a manual - but I'd love to be wrong about that. So I guess my question is: Does anyone know if these (very nicely done) tutorials were created with a version of Actionscript in mind?

What I'm trying to do is start playing the file from a specific position (Ex. 20seconds).
However with netstreamObject.seek(20) doesn't work unless the stream has been loaded past 20seconds. Is there a way to specify starting to load at 20s? Or any other way of accomplishing this?
I simply have one FLVPlayback component in the background and a movieclip on the layer above with an FLVPlayback component inside it. The first FLV component is constantly looping a five-second video. So all I need is for the movieclip containing the second FLV component to load the right file, fade in, and when the video ends, fade out. Absolutely all of that works... apart from the fading in. What I noticed was that my movieclip was fading in correctly, but the FLVPlayback component was empty and transparent until the fade had finished - then it played the clip. Here's my code, which gets called at random intervals:

Is it possible to have a same Video object ( and perhaps StageVideo) connected to multiple NetStream's objects? It's videoconferencing app, in which all members can speak ( So multiple audio sources) but should not hear themselves (that's why I don't join them in a single stream).

I have created a FLV video player using the AS3 flash.media.Video object (not the FLV playback component) and I am trying to listen for meta events and Cue Points embedded in the FLV video but I am not receiving any when I trace the movie. The cue points are not being created dynamically, they are in the FLV video.

I'm trying to attach a single NetStream Object to two separate Video objects instead of pulling redundant streams from the server. The expected behavior would be for both Video's to display the same content. However, it seems that the last video I attach the NetStream to is the only Video that will display the content.Has anyone else run into this? I'd rather not go to the inelegant steps of using BitmapData to clone pixels if I don't have to.
View 2 RepliesThe stop button plays as expected. The play/pause button plays as expected. The issue is when you press pause which will cause the play button to appear, then press stop. the video automatically plays and it shouldn't. I have bolded the control button script for convenience.

I have 3D videos encoded with each eye's content side-by-side on each frame. What I want to do is take the left-half and over-lay it on the right-half. (I'll then change with the colors and the overlaying so that someone with blue-cyan 3D glasses can view the video).
I tried to attach a single NetStream to two video objects and offset them, but that only let the stream play on one object.
I have a Net Stream object that I am using to stream video from an Amazon Flash Media Streaming service.The video makes a connection and plays fine but randomly it seems to just freeze and the only way to get it to work again is to re-establish the connection. I have tried to put other videos in that amazon bucket as well and they seem to play fine. this happens when it is in .FLV form and .mp4 format.
I have set the buffer time to be 5 seconds and i watch the output of the buffer to see the % of full it is. when the problem occurs the buffer 5 goes from 100 to 0 and then it throws a Buffer fail error (i'm using OVP framework).I have come to the conclusion that it is either a video encoding problem or perhaps there is a firewall issue that blocks the data from getting through.
I notice that, when I pause the video, the event "NetStream.Buffer.Flush" is triggered. And according to the language reference: "Data has finished streaming, and the remaining buffer will be emptied.", I have to re-buffer it, right? However, also according to the reference, it shouldn't stop buffering:
Starting with Flash Player 9.0.115.0, Flash Player no longer clears the buffer when NetStream.pause() is called. This behavior is called "smart pause". Before Flash Player 9.0.115.0, Flash Player waited for the buffer to fill up before resuming playback, which often caused a delay.
I'm using Flash Professional to do the debugging, and the traced version number is: MAC 10,0,22,91, and it appears for both FMS4 and red5.

While only one such clip will be playing at any given time, I'd like put them all at the application's fingertips as part of the initial preloading process before launching into it. I'm making a small video players in AS3, and I've found that after calling NetStream.pause() or NetStream.togglePause(), no status messages are being fired any more.If I click the "pause" button while the video is buffering, I never get the Buffer.Full message.Here is some code:

I'm working on a project for a website, I need to display statistics in a flash video, and as easy as it sounds, I can't get it to work. Basically, I need some text to fade in, and the actual number to count up [from zero to the number]. I managed to get it semi-working, but I can't get the numbers to fade in. I didn't know if there was any easy way to do this without doing it frame by frame.

View 3 RepliesI am using a trial version of CS5, and I'm wondering if this is the cause of my issue, but wouldn't think so.I am trying to display a video in a basic HTML file created in Dreamweaver.I am using flash to generate the .swf file to be embedded.I used the media encoder to convert the video file I have from .avi to .f4v.This all seems to work just fine and when I test the html file locally it works.The issue I have is when I load the files on a web server for further testing, it plays the video, but there are no controls visible on the page for the video.As stated above, they display correctly when I run this locally.I have also loaded the skin.swl file on the server in the same location as I have it locally.I have tried everything I can think of to try and can not get the controls to display while deployed on my web server.

NetStream.time gives me the current location of the video, so based on that I can display a progressbar.
Underneath the progressbar, I want to display how much of the video has been loaded already. How do I find this value?

Using netstream to load in a video and have the buffer to basically load the entire video before it starts playing. So the video doesn't begin to play until the buffer is full but while the buffer is filling up, the cue points are being read and triggering actions.

I am trying to load video using NetStream. I am able to do this by using the Video Class, but is it possible with the FLV Playback? I would like to add a seek bar so people can scroll the video if they want to.
I know the FLV Playback Component has this built in so I would use it BUT I can't load a stream to the FLV Playback, I can only set it's source. This works fine, but it doesn't allow me to unload it, the sound keeps playing, which is why I ended up using the NetStream instead.
So I have 2 questions. 1) Is it possible to load the NetStream to the FLV Playback component? 2) If not, how do I add the seek functionality to my Video Class?
Is there something i can check to see if a NetStream Video is a live stream? I have a DVR app, need the player to snap to live point (if it is live - seek(100000) ? or start from the begining if a recorded video - Ideall a boolean if the stream is live or not...

The video file is included in the package file. Is there a trick to referencing a video in the package? Here's what I am trying:

i have video streaming from the server, and later on i want to add another one just side by side. thats all good, i done that. Now my problem comes when i want to remove video. I manage to remove it from display, but i can hear that video is still playing in the background. So how do i can stop streaming that video?here is my code for setting up the video:
