1) I have a button and when I put cursor over it, it must start looping a sound. When I drag away, the sound must stop. I would be even cooler if it was possible to make the sound fade away when the mouse is rolled away. I have no problem creating another sound file that fades my current sound away.
2) I have a button which represents a knife, that should stab something (a panel) once pressed. So fist the knife must be clean. but after one or more presses, the blood should remain as a movie clip (as I want to animate the dripping blood)
3) once rolled over a button, the sound must start looping (as I wrote in 1.) AND the knife should slowly go backwards (MC). BUT when I roll mouse away, the sound fades away (as in 1. again) PLUS the knife should slowly move back to its place in stead of just jump from one place to another.

View 1 RepliesI'm about to put my fist through the screen when trying to smoothly fade images together or lower an image opacity. The alpha is all the same throughout the tween. If I slide the alpha down on one keyframe, the entire tween's opacoty lowers instead of changing over the tween timeframe. I've resorted to using mask wipes.
Is there anyway to fade an image into another one or lower the opacity on a jpg? I'm stuck and can't figure it out. When I drop my image into the stage, it's a bitmap. There is no option to change it to a movie clip.I think when I create a tween, it allowed me to make a movie clip, I switched the graphic to a movie clip, but the alpha still didn't work.
I'm a newcomer to Actionscript programming and trying to modify a Flash site template downloaded from [URL] (which is an AS2 template). I've almost succeeded at what I need to do but have run into a couple of brick walls. One is that I've added a video player to the site and need to make the background music track smoothly fade out when the video starts and fade back in when it ends (or is stopped). I set up a listener object for the video player that works. It's the smooth fade of audio levels that doesn't.

Working on a 'video heavy' Flash site that has an intro video. While the intro video is playing, assets(images,flv files) should be loaded in the background. The problem is that, while the assets are loading, the intro video play gets jittery. What can I do to make the video playing smoothly while still loading assets? It might be the single threaded nature of actionscript, not sure. After using @Demian Brecht suggested method, I noticed that the culprit might be Memory allocation. As the FLVs load the memory usage goes up by ~266MB and while the videos are written to memory, the framerate drops to 1FPS.

I'm trying to make a fade in for my FLV video but I am not sure how I can go about doing that in actionscript 3. I was looking over a sample file that has this fade in effect for the video but it was created in actionscript 2. If I put this code in Actionscript 3 and preview the result, I get a bunch of errors. Does anyone here know how I can convert this code from AS2 to AS3. Thank you guys! The flv video I have is titled "fire4.flv". Is there a different scriptcode/approach I can work with in AS3? View 5 RepliesI simply have one FLVPlayback component in the background and a movieclip on the layer above with an FLVPlayback component inside it. The first FLV component is constantly looping a five-second video. So all I need is for the movieclip containing the second FLV component to load the right file, fade in, and when the video ends, fade out. Absolutely all of that works... apart from the fading in. What I noticed was that my movieclip was fading in correctly, but the FLVPlayback component was empty and transparent until the fade had finished - then it played the clip. I am developing a ipad game using flash CS5. When I run it in flash or web browser, it run quite smoothly but when I published it into ipa file and run it on my own ipad, it became very very slow. Since my game has many stages and characters, the amount of symbols may up to more than 50. That makes the flash file more than 100mb (but the ipa is only 11mb) All of the symbols are exported in frame 1.
1)if I used preloader and exports the symbols in frame 2, will my game run more smoothly? is one preloader when the game is loaded enough? or it is need for every game scenes?
2)Is there any other technique that a big game developed in Flash has to follow in order can be run in low configurations devices?
3)Why many other big game can run so smoothly although it contains a lot more characters and background than mine?

flash version: CS3 AS2 Im having trouble making the pages for a website im working on. I have a row of buttons, and I want each one to open its corrisponding page ie. contact_us_button to open contact_us movie clip. the thing is I want each page to transition in and out. so when I click contact us, the contact us movie clip fades in and stops. When I click about us, the contact us movie clip fades out and about us fades in.
Is the way to do this to make each page movie clip have a fade start and fade end, and have it stop before the fade end, and on another page click continue playing the current clip to get the fade out and then open the new page movie clip?

For the current site I'm working on, I need to display an intro video while other ssets(mostly flv files)load in the background.The issue is the framerate drops from ~30 to about ~1 because of the loading. Whats happening here is that the Bar is scaling to the first random point perfectly but as soon as its target becomes a number around 0.50ish it will stick around that forever because the difference will be too small from there to the next point (i think). So is there any way that it can still make large jumps while using Zeno's Paradox type easing?

I have an object that I want to smoothly move along the x axis when the user clicks on the screen. I first made a prototype that would make the ball end at a location I specified by doing x = 450; I then tried looping ball1.x += 1 with a for/do (I encapsulated it with a boolean so the if ball1.x got to 450 it would stop) statement and I couldn't see the ball transition, I just saw it stop at the 450 mark.
i'm rewriting my game code in as3 and can't figure out how to make my hero move smoothly once the directional keys are down. In as2 all I had to do was putting a line lke this: "if(key.isDown(Key.RIGHT)" and as long as the right arrow was being pressed, my hero was moving nicely across the screen. Basically, I need some text to fade in, and the actual number to count up [from zero to the number]. I managed to get it semi-working, but I can't get the numbers to fade in.
