Just set the htmlText as something like "<font face='Myriad Web Pro'><b>BOLD</b></font>" and you're done.hs issue is, why does it not render the bold text without the font tag in the first place, if I have already set the font of the TLF text in the PI?

So, I have some HTML text loaded from a text file into a dynamic text field and I'm using an embedded font to display that text.
What I would like is to get that embedded font to show the italic tagg or underline, etc... the manual say they are supported and they do work when I don't embed a font but use a standard "arial" or whatever... When I use the embedded font, the HTML tags don't work anymore, besides the one to make links... I can understand why the italic or bold don't work since I did not embed those ones and I don't see how I could assign 3 fonts to the same text field anyway... But I thought the color or underligned would work... Anyway, when I embed the fonts, I get all kind of strange buggy behaviors (like, sometimes the text doesn't wrap inside the text field box even though it's specified in the actionscript style defnition, but sometimes it does...)Is there a way to embed fonts, not within flash, but within the HTML text itself? I mean, is there a technology that allows HTML document to display fonts that are on the server's computer instead of the computer viewing the page? So I could bypass Flash embedding the font for the HTML alltogether.

I have this text "my text is <b>bold</b> and regular".
I want "<b>bold</b>" to be... well, let's say... bold !
I have a mask layer under which there is a text field.
The text field shows htmlText, and i must embed chars. If not embedded, it doesn't display because of the mask. So the solution of importing 2 user fonts ( one bold and one regular) does not work.
If you're creating a htmlText field via the createTextField method, is there a way to get html formatting like <b></b> to show up if you are also embedding a font? I'm guessing not, since you can only embed a single font in a TextFormat, and you would have to embed both italic and bold variants too to make it work. Is this true?Maybe I'm better off creating a generic text field on the stage with both bold and italics embedded, and use the attachMovie method instead?This is my code:

I'm building textbox dynamically as i normally do, i'm importing a font to the library and embedding the font to the textfield. However for some reason when the text is White it doesn't antialias correctly. I'm using white, pink and bronze text, when it's bronze or pink it is fine but when it is white or even a colour close to white then it blurs and looks messy.

I bought a text scroller flash file and am now trying to tailor it to my needs.URL...It is composed of several movieclips which link to the an external text file. The external file starts off with this mytext= <font color="#000000" size="7">BACKGROUND</font> This file determines the size and color of the font but does not define the actual font itself, it also contains the content. There is a movieclip within the flash file where you can denote a device font or embed a font from the properties panel.Starting off I simply picked my font from the properties panel and used "anti-alias for animation". This seemed to work fine on the Flash preview and also once published online. However, once I used another computer to view my site the font changed and reverted to a default. This leads me to believe the font is linked to each computers font library. I am wondering if there is a way to override this and to link the font to a place on my server?I also tried to embed my font via the properties panel but it looks warped and unrecognizable, so thats out. Why do the dynamic text font size appears smaller than what I specified in the flash dynamic text properties? I used a font size of 50 for the dynamic text and when I test movie, it appears to be only a font size of 12. Why is it so?
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to embed a font in my project by using url("font.ttf") rather than local("Font Name"), but it doesn't seem to pick it up. The font in question is called "Gotham Bold". When i view the details of the font, the font weight is regular, however when i use local("Gotham Bold") in the css i have to specify fontWeight: bold or else it wont pick it up. But when I use url("folderGotham-Bold.ttf"), and specify fontWeight: bold, it says that font weight is not found for that TTF. If i remove the fontweight, there's no errors, but the font is not applied to the text.

However if I create a new XML object containing a root node and then attempt to appendChild the htmlText string so that I have a valid XML object to manipulate I run into a problem with html entities, see example below:

The navigation buttons in my .fla file are set to the font, Arial MT in Bold. It displays no problem on my desktop computer. However, when I view the website on my laptops, the font changes to what looks to be something like Times New Roman. The same thing happens with my "Read More" button text. It's also originally in Arial MT Bold. On my desktop it appears fine but on my 2 laptops it appears to be in Times New Roman. This is more of an issue because I have these buttons underlined. When viewing in my laptops, these underlines appear to be too long. If I shorten it, it'll probably appear to be too short when I view on my desktop. How can I get the font to be one consistent font for all computers?
View 3 RepliesI'm planning a webapp. I have all the wireframes defined, the interfaces designed in photoshop, data structures etc. It will be built on php and mysql however I've been unable to decide on which technology to use as a GUI. All your insights are welcome.
The problem with going the html way is that the GUI makes use of a special font that is crucial to the visual aspect of the app. So this font is required. For headers and fixed sections I could do sfir or use images but being a webapp, the amount of dynamically generated content makes it imposible to use image replacements. Enter flash. Flash solves the font problem easily, it even adds font antialiasing and animations which makes it look even sexier. Another pro is being able to deploy as an air app to use local storage for users that have troublesome connections. This way when internet access is restored the app can sync with the main servers. BUT... flash is being ignored by major developers, this would mean the app wouldn't be accessible to mobile devices, ipads,search engines, etc and requires the installation of the flash plugin which is not that big a deal but should be considered.
I have a dynamically loaded html enabled text field but when I used embedded fonts from the swf. It doesn't show some of the text but when I used device fonts... (from the system) it works fine. Why is that/? Can't I use embedded fonts? with a text field with contents that are html and loaded dynamically from a text file?

It works great but when I embed the font in flash using the properties panel the HTML tags no longer work, how can I fix that?
Is there a way to detect if a dynamic text field that has basic english characters embedded can't display some foreign text, japanese for example?
So I can then switch the text to display in an arial device font text field.

Im using a standard font (Gotham rounded) within a dynamic text field. As soon as I embed the numerals within this text field the text lowers within the text field.Double clicking the field then renders the text higher up! It seems that the height it shows when I double click is the height it compiles atThe other strange and annoying thing is that my colleague working on the same project is using the exact same font and same file but this doesnt happen to him and so the font redners out differently when he compiles
View 1 RepliesSo, I have some basic actionscript code. It's a legacy site, so I'm using AS2. The line of code simply does this:
myField.text = "some text"
So, I select the text field on the stage, then ensure the font is embedded. All the glyphs I want are checked, but then when I compile and test, the fonts don't show up when the code is executed. Instead, the textfield is blank! What happened?! Where did the text go?
I should mention that the .swf which I compile is loaded into another parent .swf during runtime. If that parent .swf does not contain embedded fonts, is that why it's broken?
I have a project that needs to take dynamic text and arc it. Similar to this: http:[url]...In this example, select a font then click create text item.At this point you can slide the meter to change the arc of the text. This is exactly what I need to do.My understanding of what needs to be done is I need to first break the letters of the text field into separate text fields, loop thru them then position and rotate each char to the desired arc. The problem is my trigonometry really bites. I have tried many tutorials and I have gotten similar results, mainly arcing text into a complete circle at different radiuses. But all I need to do is whats in the example, which is allowing the user to gradually arch the text.
