to create a flash-application that works like this example:Combobox1 provide some country namesCombobox2 provide some city namesThe data should be provided with webservices (like .asmx).I want them to work together and when i choose country in Combobox1 all cities related to that country will be shown on the second Combobox2.I've searched alot for an answer but couldn't find any for AS2 and please now i need your support
host in my webpage an swf, and through Cirrus I could establish a connection between two different users, that worked like a charm, BUT, I had to pass through msn the peer ID in order to establish that connection.I know that this part must be resolved by a webservice.. but, how can I make one, and, more important, how does it work?
First off I am new to flash, actionscript, java script, ..., and I need server side to interact with a database. I have developed the below code that through trace statements seems to work, but when I try to access variable(s) they are still in their initial state. The trace statements in "Results.onResult = function(result)" are called and printed out to the Administration console. In main.asc there is an interval that checks the variable(s) and prints trace statement. app.MyDataManager.initCalled is always false. I'm not sure if this is the right terminology, but the call back from the web service seems to be in different memory or scope.What am I missing here. I know the function setInterval(...) you have to pass this. But I have been unable to find an equivalent for WebService. Is it possible to do what I'm trying to do?
I've to make a custom comboBox just like the image below, I can make it by cell rendering I know but I doubt the data coming for to be filled inside the cells is actually generated by a other class mathMl --> fmath.info/flash/formula.jsp

As i search thru the web, i cant find an example to explain how to make the combobox or dropdown scroll when the items over certain number, and i saw example in AS2 but not in AS3.
I am a dynamic site newbie, but have been making simple animations with Flash for some years. I have got a friend to give me a leg up to create a flash page full of input text boxes that write to a text file via PHP and are then dispayed in dynamic text boxes. [URL]. I want to replace some of the imput text boxes with combo boxes. eg if the combo box has the options of say "rigid" or "trailer" it would write which ever was selected in the text file so this would be displayed in the dynamic text box for the end user to see. It seems very simple but I have looked all over the options for combo boxes and can see no mention of variables.
I have a combobox with arrayCollection dataprovider, it selects nothing at start, but i see the first object label as selected, i want to add select text, as first option that selects nothing, just to indicate that the user didn't select an option yet.

I have a pure Actionscript 3 project, using flash.* libraries, compiles down to about 6k (using mxmlc). Program handles about 1k shapes, a few sprites, a sockets connection, works great (tastes less filling).

i am having a problem with the combobox component.i have a mysql database with a student and a class table.i want to make a registration form for the student. i have the combobox here where he picks his class (populated from the class table). The class_id is a foreign key to the student table and it's invisible in the combobox. i want when the students registers from his selection on the combobox to write in the database the corresponding class_id.
Isn't there a better way to accomplish this?[code]...
All I want to do is make sure that when I update the item that the comboBox is pointing to internally, that it's selectedIndex also update so that the label within the ComboBox reflects the new value.
I'm developing an AIR app that requires a menu to show only during the first run. In it the user will be able to choose the desired language for the app to run in.
I'm displaying this menu without a problem but I need it to stay visible until the "select language" comboBox is changed and then return the selected choice's data value.

I'm using Flash CS3 and want to create a custom ComboBox. I've followed the steps outlined in "Editing component skins in a new document" (http:/[url]...), but every time I get to the step where I drag the ComboBox Assets folder from the HaloTheme.fla library into my library, if I test movie at that point my combobox has become an unclickable white rectangle with no label, button or anything.
I'm trying to set a specific list item in a mx combobox to have a custom item renderer, the problem is that I cannot do this via mxml, it needs to be done via actionscript at a later stage, eg: combobox gets created, combobox gets populated, user does other tasks, combobox needs to set one or more items in the combobox to have icons (via item renderer)..
I can do this via the onChange event, but it only applies the icon when the combobox is opened and there is a slight delay so you can see the icon being added.

Both of my ComboBoxes has the same identifier.I could not change the identifier through the properties tab because it is greyed out.

I have a Flash movie written in Flash 8 with AS2 that is attempting to access a webservice on a server that is https.
I can't get the webserviceconnector to even load the WSDL file.
I have a crossdomain.xml file at the root of my http/https server that allows the domain the swf is being served from to get in and it has the secure attribute for that domain set to false, but it still can't get through.
Not sure what I am missing at this point.
I have a quick update. I figured that since my webserver is serving the secure site up under a different Website in IIS that I needed a crossdomain policy file at the home directory of the site. I have placed it there and when the movie loads I am using loadPolicyFile to get the crossdomain file which still loads into flash without issue but I still get a WebServiceFault when I try to load up the WSDL.
Can anyone point out a crossdomain example where a flash movie on an http domain is accessing a webservice on an https domain?
I need some sort of way to handle Magento's customer login, customer account creation and order checkout via some kind of webservice to be used for Flash, preferably XML.As far as I know the Magento API doesn't have these features. I found the Mammoth Webservices extension but it seems that the project is inactive judging from heir site.

My webservice provides fairly small XML docs containing all the details about a certain object - is it considered better to parse that XML into objects for use in my UI, or just store the XML and access it directlyMy instincts say the former, though I'm sure doing a lot of parsing / encoding XML objects that I'm wondering if I shouldn't just add and remove elements when needed.

I am creating a flex dashboard using flash builder. I initially created a flex web based program without any server. This dashboard gets data from SAP query_view_data. And works fine. Now i wanted to host this on IIS. So i created released built. However after deploying on IIS. I receive error : "Security error accessing url.Unable to load WSDL. If currently online, please verify the URI and/or format of the WSDL ". Is this because of some crossdomain.xml. I added this to my webroot, However no luck.
I have an application in Flex how create and XML in UTF-8. When I open it everything is ok.I send it to a server using a webservice (the xml is send like a string), the server receive the xml but all the accent, degree symbol and some other stuff are gone.

What I am in the process of doing is building an application where I can use the FileReference class to pass a file to any server via ftp provided you supply the uri, username, and password.Right now I am very close but it's kind of like having 2 children that do not play well together.
