I am needing to load an external image (probably jpg) into a movie. I am using an empty movie clip, giving it an instance name and the code:
Code: instance1.loadMovie("image.jpg");
What I also need to do is be able to either place that image in a specific location on the stage or just center it. Any advice you can give me on that?
I am attempting to do something like this: Use two movie clips. One is a holder that contains the second movie clip, which is where the image is actually being loaded. Then, I am using the following math:
I'm trying to resize an image loaded in a movie clip, so that any image I load will always fit correctly in my movie.The script is pretty simple, it reads an xml file where they should be 6 records. Loads the image in the Thumb attribute in on of the 6 containers eg. _root.screen.Event1
Code:
for (i=0; i < 6; i++){ MyEvent = Event[i].attributes ; _root.screen["Event"+i].Title.text = MyEvent.Title ;
[code]....
It works but not as expected. It looks like only the container is scaled down not the image really.
I'm not sure if this can be done, but I'll try my luck here I've loaded external jpg image using loadClip method... Now i want to attach the same image to another dynamically created movie clip. I know i can attach images from library but i need it on this way.
It have to be attached as JPG. I know for bitmap data class and I am already using it but don't know how to attach jpg.
i've looked at several ways to centre a dynamically loaded image into a movie clip for the purpose of zooming the image once loaded. I am loading multiple images (16 in total) at a time and they are all 360 x 360 in size. So what i want to do is set 180,180 to be the centre of the loaded image.
This sounds easy to me but in practice i'm finding it impossible (although i know it isn't as i've seen similar examples doing this).
I'm having some strange luck in building an image slide show.I load the image paths into an array from an XML page and then step through the array elements w/ forward and back buttons.I have an empty image clip on the stage where I create an empty movie clip inside each time a new image is loaded.I load the image into the second movie clip like this:[code]Now, 98% of the time this works perfectly, but there is some certain times where the image resizing is completely ignored and the image gets loaded as it's normal size.Can anyone see why the image sizing get's ignored in some instance?
I have a magnifying glass image on my stage fixed on the right hand side, with the glass area of the magnifying glass cut out as a movie clip called glass_mc.
Now i also have a map to the left of that image. What im trying to do, is when you roll over the map, a zoomed version of that map will appear in the glass zoomed in or out depending on what zoom level i make it.
I have got it working using a rectangle but how would i go about placing the bitmap into the circle so the zoomed bitmap is displayed is as a circle shape.[code]...
I am wanting to achieve a particular image effect using Adobe Flash (Actionscript 3). I would like an image (width 200px, height 600px) to appear on the timeline by being revealed by different sized circles (varying from 30px-5px). I am thinking of using an image mask and creating seperate circles across the timeline, so that when the movie plays, each random sized circle, one after one, will reveal the image at the end. So this is probably going to be quite time consuming. Also, does anyone know of any flash image effects helpers in general, I'm looking for something similar like green socks except for image effects...
I want to rotate a 2d object on its' y-axis but it won't make a complete circle. It just turns 90and then turns back the same 90 in the opposite direction. How can I make my 2d object make a full circle?
From this tutorial:[URL] Pretty neat effect, I wanted to use this for a gallery transition, but I have a problem. Does anybody have an idea how to know when image has been completely revealed so I can stop the enter frame listener and remove this growing masks, otherwise this is pretty useless
I have a Flash file for an advanced preloader that fills up a circle with an image as the file loads. The problem is that the readout on screen is the percentage loaded. I am trying to get it to read kilobytes loaded over the total number of kilobytes, with the image synchronized with the amount loaded. I can actually send you the .fla file via e-mail so that you can see what I have.
I'm developing a game atm, and I need some help on the mathematics/coding of colliding circles (and their change in x/y speed). What i need to know is how to calculate the direction and speed a circle has after colliding with a static (non-moving) circle. I know how to detect a collision between the two, but I'm not sure about the maths I need to give the circle the right speed and direction after the collision
If i do know how far away the two circle-points (in the middle of each) are to each other (in both x and y coords) would it be easy for me to find the new speed and direction of the large circle in the example above? I know that I somehow should use the angles to pretend the circle hits a flat "wall" (as it only hits one point), and then calculate the new speed/direction. My only problem is that I'm not sure how to decide the angle of this flat "wall" and how x and y speeds should change when colliding with a wall that is angled. Does anyone here have any insight, links or tips on how I can du this?

I`m working on a app that you can draw lines.....like circles, rectangles... my problem is when a user draw a circle for example....i wanna be able to paint (change color) inside of this circle. I`ve tried working on Shapes with cacheAsBitmap = true and Bitmaps with BitmapData but it doesn`t seens to work.
Trying to do circle circle collisions via math which I'm really having trouble with. One circle (player) just moves from keyboard. The ball reacts to the player. All the code shown is in my players class and I passed in a reference to the ball.
On my enterframe I have:
Code: var xmov1 = xSpeed; var ymov1 = ySpeed; var xmov2 = ballRef.xSpeed; var ymov2 = ballRef.ySpeed;
[code]....
Perhaps I'll go with a box2d equivalent instead of trying out my own physics shenanigans.
Here I what i need is : Start drawing first circle and when first circle is on half way, Start second circle.same way second and third circles. and after completing 3 circles, just gotoAndPlay 2nd Frame .
I want to build a specifik thing in flash, and don't really know where to start.... Say I have:
3 images of 3 three different squares
3 images of 3 three different triangles
3 images of 3 three different circles
The first thing you see is Square 1, Triangle 1 and Circle 1. If you were to click on Choose Square, Square 2 will appare in Square 1s place. If you click on it one more time, Square 3 will appare, and then round again to Square 1. Same thing for all the shapes.When you're satisfied with your selection of shapes you click OK and then you get to see a movie, based on whatever choices you've made. Because there are 3 different shapes and 3 different objects within each category, there will be 9 different movies to watch (3x3=9).One example of how this could turn out is:
I have a simple three ring animation where the three rings fade in and out.On the stage the rings are a perfect circle, in the publish preview they look fine, but once I publish the SWF, all of the sudden the rings are not perfectly round anymore.
They are almost perfect but right at the top and bottom there is just a small portion which has sort of "flattened out"...
I bought a Flash video tutorial online for Animating and the FIRST step is to create a circle with the circle tool, and the guy does it online, and it fills itself in. I repeat his actions exactly and I cannot get the same result at all. I just get a circle.
I have two MC's, circular in shape. One of the circles is stationary and you can drag the other. I'm trying to get the moveable circle to be able to move around the circumference of the stationary circle, but not overlap. I'm able to detect when they overlap, not using hittest. I just can't figure out how to code it so that the draggable circle can't be moved over the stationary circle.
I have been trying to get this right for hours now it cant be as hard as I am finding it! but basically I have a circle and in that circle is a circle and all I want is for the inner circle to not be able to leave its parent. that's it but I just cant get it to work.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me how and if it is possible to draw a line/ circle and place a movie clip on it and get the movie clip to go round the circle by placing the left and right arrow keys on the keyboard.
I've been recently asked to do an interface from this file(view the attached file). The file was from ultrashock, anyway my client wants the interface to appear instead of the circles. Is there any easy way to change the circle to movie clips/buttons? I would also like to have the 3d flower rotated randomly after being selected and the interface will zoom into the selected link and the sublink will pop up from the selected link.I've been told by my friend that it requires XML but I think there's gotta be an easier way.
Some images I load dynamically are too big so I would like to scale them to fit the stage.
[Code]...
this returns 0. Why does it return 0 when the image loaded is obviously much larger then 0 pixels. How do I change the width and height of imgCont to a specified dimension.
