View 5 RepliesI'm making a Jeopardy game. When someone clicks on the button with the dollar amount on it, I have it reset to a different scene on the button so the players know it has been used. When another button is clicked, the first button resets back to its original dollar amount, rather than the blank scene it was reset to.

What I would like to do is after someone clicks on the button, it should then jump to another scene's specific frame number. So for example when you press the "about" button, the playhead goes to the "about" scene to 25th frame. Same thing for each button
I have an animation where I want to play a movie clip and then play another movie clip from the library (selecting randomly from a group of movie clips). I couldn't figure out how to get this to work, so I tried to play the first clip, and when it gets to its last frame jump to a random clip which is already on the time line. The AS is attached.
Clearly I'm missing something critical here.
how to accomplish my current task. I have an .fla with 32 frames in it, an open frame, a close frame, and a bank of 30 frames in between. I want to set up some AS so that once the user clicks a "Next" button on the first frame, it randomly jumps to another one of the frames within the bank of 30. Then, when they get to that frame and view the contents, and click next, they'll randomly jump to another one of the remaining frames. This will only happen for 20 frames, after the 20th viewed frame, I want the "Next" button to take them to the final slide in the series. The purpose being so that each time a user views the program, it's never the same (well not likely ever the same) - so they'll all see 20 different frames in a different order.
I'm guessing I could do this with arrays, and the math.random method, some if/else statements.
I'm interested in understanding the ActionScript 2 code that will allow a random decision on the next marker to jump to. I have five markers on a time line and want the movie to stop after playing a sequence of elements, then randomly choose the next marker to jump to and play, this would continue forever.The goal is to communicate a few concepts without starting from the same concept every time in a linear manner.

View 5 RepliesI have a movie with various movie clips on certain frames. What I want is the playhead to randomly jump to different frames I specify within the movie after each Movie clip has played. So at the end of each movie clip there would be a random script forcing the playhead to play another movie clip randomly. My movie has 100 frames but I only want the random sequence to occur on the following frames 10, 13, 25, 86, 75, 56. Or If I labelled the frames how would I label them?? Would they all have to have the same label, or each label different?

View 4 RepliesI am making a small website out of flash and I have a photo gallery in a separate scene. I have five photo galleries and so I have five buttons that will lead to those five galleries.
The code of one of the five buttons is

Works great, but the first 10 frames of this new scene "Content_Photography" is an intro and then I would like that it would jump to the corresponding gallery that these galleries will be laid out on the timeline.
What would i put after _root.gotoAndPlay("Content_Photography");?

I've been doing an active net connection checking for my project, once it loads it should jump to my other scene which contains datagrid populated by an xml(php) from a mysql server, but when i run it the data grid remains empty. I've tried it before with out the jumping to another scene and the datagrid is ok..

What is the command to jump to the last frame of the previous scene.E.g.: I have three scenes: sceneA, sceneB and sceneC. An element of the last frame of each scene links to sceneZ. Now I want a button in sceneZ that links either to sceneA, sceneB or sceneC depending on where I came from. prevScene() or prevFrame() doesn't work. I jump to another Scene and I don't know why.

i dont know if it makes a difference but the navigation buttons are on a movie clip which pops up over the main stage...if that makes sense, that flash file is huge i didnt want to attach the whole thing...

View 6 RepliesI am brand new to scripting in Flash, and was hoping I could get some help on a question. I have an animation that is 300 frames long. The first 100 frames are an animated 'ad' (for lack of a better term), the second 100 frames are a different ad, and the third 100 frames are the last ad. This can be viewed straight from beginning to end (and is intended to loop if no action is taken), but I would also like to add some functionality to the animation, so that people can jump forward to the next ad, or back to the previous ad (hitting back from the first ad would take them to the third ad, and vice versa.)

This does not turn up any errors when I test the movie, but the functionality does not work. Am I anywhere near a working script, or am I attempting this in a completely wrong way?
ive made a button in the scene 1 which i have managed to navigate to scene 2 but when i click the button it goes to scene 2 but displays everthing that is in scene 1 in scene 2, how can sort this out so upon the button click in scene 1 it goes to scene 2 and only display content in scene2.

so I have some buttons that, as of right now, simply trigger the scene to move on while at the same time killing some particle effect animations I have spawning when the animation is idle. What I now need to do is make these events move on to a specific scene AFTER the rest of the scene's animation has played out (about 400 more frames) I'm figuring that the gotoAndPlay command has to be tied to some sort of timer variable that I would have to figure out based on my fps. Or maybe there is a way to set up a timer directly tied to a certain amount of frames allowed to go by. I'm pretty noob at actionscript, so keep that in mind. Here is the script at the point where the animation pauses to await user input on the buttons:

Some of these swf files are animations which have code that states :
MovieClip(parent).gotoAndStop("frameThree");
The first loader works but I cannot get that swf to move on to the next frame(frameThree) to load the next swf file
Instead I get this message
ArgumentError: Error #2109: Frame label frameThree not found in scene Scene 1. at flash.display::MovieClip/gotoAndStop() at New_Inro_fla::MainGuy_1/frame146()[New_Inro_fla.MainGuy_1::frame146:2 ]
I'm getting this error in the OUTPUT window, when I PREVIEW (COMMAND + RETURN) my SWF:

i am using a movie clip button to open a swf with a loader. hope i m not missing any information/other coding....
I've created a class which simulates an action for example a ball bouncing about a screen thus I'd create it like so:

How would I go about adding this to a loop, in a sense of every frame add another ball till you reach the maximum balls
currently after looking in help, google and forums this is all I could find
