I am trying to obtain the variables/contents of a php or a text file from my server using loadVars(), and the problem is that flash can get data from almost every server but from mine. (some shared hosting service) I just tried the code provided in the help files:
Code:
var my_lv:LoadVars = new LoadVars(); my_lv.onLoad = function(success:Boolean) { if (success) {
[code]....
I'm sure that I did no mistake in typing the URL, for it works fine in the browser (also no spaces, no freaky chars), and when i change the URL to another domain (and put the txt file on that server) everything works fine. I tried both possibilities "network access" and "local access" as well as running from an exe projector. But no chance.
i want to do is read variables from a php file on a remote server. i have the php file on the server and im echoing back a result. all i need in plain english is the AS3 to intercept read and display this variable in a text box.
I have a flash movie that I need to read in a value from a PHP script in order to set which frame it starts from, I am using the following code:
[Code]...
The problem is this is not working - it won't get into the load event. If I run the PHP manually I get "&pageID=29". If I debug this locally I get "Who: undefined" in the trace output window. From all the example I have read, I seem to be doing this correctly but it just doesn't seem to be working. Flash: CS5 using Actionscript 2.0
I've tried a million methods for this. And cant get it to do it. Basically I have LoadVars reading a txt file. The HTML renders fine. Is there a way to get it to parse Javascript from the text file?

With the Actionscript code below I'm sending an array to the server and receiving two responses: the HttpStatus response and a header with several information, like server info, location, etc. Does anyone have an idea how to read these server information? I cannot find any method or class, which would read the header info.
As titled, what is the way to record video/audio files using Flash Meida Server through rmtp, and allow users to access the recorded files through http? What I am trying to do, is to record a user's microphone's input and save it to the server.fterwards, I would like other users to be able to access the recorded files and mainuplating the audio data, by computeSpectrum(), to do some visualization of the audio. As I know computeSpectrum() cannot work on streaming files, so I think I need to access the recorded files using http instead of rmtp. Is that true?
I am trying to get Flash to read my txt files with load(). Everything worked, until something happend. Suddenly I couldn't read my files. [URL]. And it just wont work. I Use CS3 with AS2.
I am writing an article about CS5 and FXG and I really would like know whether Flash CS5 can export to FXG and read FXG files. It can do both or just export?
im just wondering for the best way to read variables of a .php page into flash
[Code]...
but that dident work either the real problem is, i guess that i need it to read in the variable array[0,0]=1 just like that and not use sumthingrather=(myVars.varname) because there will be a hell of alot of variables, and the variable ammounts will switch and i cant do a sumthingrather=(myVars.varname)
is there a way to have flash read swf from a directory dynamicaly. so if you add a new one it reads it and you could have a next and previouse button to dynamicly browse throught them.
this way you could just upload new swf and it would automaticaly add it to the set so when you hit next at the end it would read the new one.
I'm experimenting with loading an array of elements into my Flash project using the LoadVars property (I'm using Flash 8 - AS 2) The elements are queried from MySQL using PHP to a page named "elements.php" and loaded into the Flash file. It works fine, but I'd like to be able to protect the "elements.php" page so that the variables queried from this page cannot be viewed by someone who types the absolute path to the elements.php file in the browser address bar [[URL]. Using includes, I'm able to protect other pages in my site from direct assess but these methods don't seem to work when the URL is called from within my SWF file.
My fear is that someone might decompile the swf to reveal the LoadVars URL present in the actionscript. I know there are ways to obfuscate the code, but I'm not sure how well these methods really work. I also understand it is practically impossible to completely hide the code from someone who is REALLY intent on getting it, but I'd like to make it as difficult as possible.
I am trying to create .txt file dynamically from a Flash projector exe on to the local system for a game, Wherein the score and the players name should be stored.I have tried using the Loadvariable POST method to no avail.
I'm thinking about making a game that would have 3 "save slots", so you could play the game and then load the game later. If you were to save the game, basically flash would store a list of variable values into a text file.
Let's say I have game.swf in a folder named MyGame. Also in that folder I'll have save1.txt, save2.txt, and save3.txt. If I'm loading a game, I'd want Flash to open that txt file, read the values, and then set the variables equal to that in the text file. So if you open save1.txt and you see a=1, b=3, and c=2, I'd want flash to then take those values and set it's own same variable a = 1, b = 3, and c = 2.
On the other hand, if you're saving a game, let's say a=10, b=10, and c=10, I'd like it for flash to open save1.txt and replace the text there with a list of the current variables.Flash would need to do one more thing... if for some reason the file were deleted, Flash would need to create a new txt file. If the txt file is missing, you couldn't load, but if you're trying to save to save1.txt and that file doesn't exist, I'd need flash to create a new save1.txt and then put the variables into it.
I would like to read the source of the flash.net.FileReference class. Is this possible?Where can I find the source files, do the come with the Adobe Flash or Flash Builder?
I have an application that reads a PHP script and populates the Flash applets using the following on frame 1:
[Code]...
A combobox (created with the returned data) is created on frame 61. When a selection is chosen in the combobox I need to add the value returned from the combobox to the variable catvar, add this variable to the LoadVars object and run the script again. It seems to set c.catvar initially but when I use the 'sendAndLoad command the second time c.catvar isn't included. Is it possible to add variables to a LoadVars object created on frame 1 from frame 61?
can you write and modify XML files using server-side Actionscript? I've been going through Adobe's Server-side Actionscript reference, reading up on the File class that lets you modify files on the server, and the server-side XML class that lets you read and 'understand' XML data, but can you put them together and essentially edit XML files on the server?
I am using the following code to send some values do a php file. The problem comes when i actually SEND them (values). A browser opens up. How could i avoid opening the browser when i send my variables to my php?
I'm using the LoadVars object to read data from a textfile. Everything works fine when I play my movie locally or on another computer in the network, but when I play it on the server, it does not load any data at all
I will go to URL... but when the pages load the content will be read from ABC's server not XYZ's server. The users will use the data on XYZ's website not realizing that the content is actually coming from another site.
