I am writing an article about CS5 and FXG and I really would like know whether Flash CS5 can export to FXG and read FXG files. It can do both or just export?
View 2 RepliesI have a swf file but when I put it on a server at work, it is blocked. I get a black screen that just shows three dots as if it was loading. Nothing comes up. The swf has an FLVPlayback component which links to an external flv file. After talking with tech support locally, I found out that the swf is being read by the server scanners as an MP4 container and that is why it's being blocked. I would like to know if there is a way I can generate the swf without it being read as an MP4 container so it will work here.
View 8 RepliesFor those of you that use Flash like I do, as a drawing tool, then you may be disappointed to find that Flash CS5 no longer exports your graphics as .ai files. Your only options are .swf, .fxg, .bmp, .jpg, .gif, .png.Often I use Flash and Illustrator together. I'll draw in Flash and export to Illustrator. I mainly use Illustrator when I need text on a curved line. Then I bring that text back in to Flash.
It's odd because one time I just typed in .ai into the filename and it did indeed create an .ai file. However, just now, I tried to do that again and it won't work for me. ALSO... I upgrade from Flash CS3 to CS5 ultimately skipping CS4. The problem is, CS5 only let's you save to legacy CS4. So my CS3 version can't open my CS4 or CS5 files.
When I try to export my application to native installer with using Export Build Release, it isn't importing my sqlite database files which are in my application directory. Is there a way that I can import those database files ?
View 1 RepliesUsing Flash CS5, when activating Export SWC in the Flash Publish Settings, I end up with a much bigger file (500 ko) than when the SWC is not activated (around 100 ko).
Why is the SWC 5 times bigger ?
I'm making a intro for kids and i loaded the .swf using the loader concept in action script.3.0. and m confused how to export this files which can be played when user insert the cd/dvd in cd/dvd rom.like we can find some interactive cds like movies or games..etc!!so how can i render in this way which can be interactive apart from swf!
View 3 RepliesI just upgraded from Flash CS3 to Flash CS5, and I've been playing with the various new features. However, I've just encountered an odd problem that I can't seem to find a solution to. In the past, I've made animated GIFs in CS3 by exporting them with the "Smooth" box unchecked. This was really convenient for me because not only could I export crisp pixel bitmaps from Flash, but I could edit it in another program later. I was planning on making some GIF animations via this process with the aid of the bone tool in CS4 and 5.
When I tried exporting frames of of a figure created with the bone tool in CS5, however, I got images that were fuzzy and often had distorted colors. After some time, I realized that this was because in CS3, I had exported the images from ActionScript 2 files, while the bone tool only works in ActionScript 3 files. Is it not possible to export "rough" GIFs from ActionScript 3 files, or is there a trick to doing that that I'm somehow missing?
I'm developping a mobile application in Flash builder. So in Flash Builder Burrito , I was using the Flex Hero SDK 4.5.0 but they currently realesed the Flex4.5.0.20967.

I extracted it into a map on my C: drive. Then I opened my flash builder burrito. Added him by (Window>Flash Builder>Installed Flex SDK's. I his add and added my location.
This went very well. I changed my code with the new commands.
Next I wanted to test on my android phone but now my problem: I can't make any apk files anymore.
Whenever I export a file in Flash MX it compresses all my png files as if they were jpegs.

I have this function within my flash program that allows a person to make notes, at the moment they notes are just saved from a dynamic textfield to variable and hover around in flash output space, now I really need to get it so that when they click 'save' it exports the text from flash and saves it onto the users computer. I really don't want to use fscommand... and I know it can be done with PHP but trying to find a suitable tutorial is harder than I thought... so I would wondering if anyone could recommend a good tutorial or has done it before and can give some tips?
View 1 Repliesis there a way to have flash read swf from a directory dynamicaly. so if you add a new one it reads it and you could have a next and previouse button to dynamicly browse throught them.
this way you could just upload new swf and it would automaticaly add it to the set so when you hit next at the end it would read the new one.

View 14 RepliesI'm thinking about making a game that would have 3 "save slots", so you could play the game and then load the game later. If you were to save the game, basically flash would store a list of variable values into a text file.
Let's say I have game.swf in a folder named MyGame.Also in that folder I'll have save1.txt, save2.txt, and save3.txt. If I'm loading a game, I'd want Flash to open that txt file, read the values, and then set the variables equal to that in the text file. So if you open save1.txt and you see a=1, b=3, and c=2, I'd want flash to then take those values and set it's own same variable a = 1, b = 3, and c = 2.
On the other hand, if you're saving a game, let's say a=10, b=10, and c=10, I'd like it for flash to open save1.txt and replace the text there with a list of the current variables.Flash would need to do one more thing... if for some reason the file were deleted, Flash would need to create a new txt file. If the txt file is missing, you couldn't load, but if you're trying to save to save1.txt and that file doesn't exist, I'd need flash to create a new save1.txt and then put the variables into it.

View 4 RepliesI created a short animation using a series of photos stop-motion style, only about 18 frames long (as part of a larger project) Whenever i try to export it into SWF (Either CTRL+ENTER or the FILE>EXPORT method) the time it takes is super-fast, but no file is created. View 4 RepliesI am unable to export any swiff files from CS5 Flash Pro that contain TLF text. If I apply one text box with TLF text on the stage, with no script on the timeline and nothing in the library, I receive the following compiler error:
MainTimeline, Line 39 1137: Incorrect number of arguments. Expected no more than 1.
MainTimeline, Line 42 1137: Incorrect number of arguments. Expected no more than 7.
I do a lot of heavy actionscript coding, and rarely have anything on the timeline or stage in Flash, but this is a pretty big error for a new feature like the TLF engine. I think there is an issue with files missing, or flash not having the correct path to the classes used by the TLF text, but that is only a guess.
All I can get out of the Adobe documentation is that there is a SWC file that is supposed to be remotely accessed, downloaded, or embedded into the SWF on export.
I have been completely unable to use this feature of Flash since I purchased CS5. Additionally, when I tried to contact Adobe directly by phone, they referred me to these forums.
export an animation sequence from flash to a video format. Looks like flash has Quicktime and Avi as options. However they both produce poor and jerky results. My animation is 750 by 545 pixels and running at 20fps - I have tried upping it to 25fps to see if it is a frame rate mismatch issue but similar rsults. For the record the anim plays perfectly as a swf. I have tried a third party swf to flv converter as flv is the format I desire but still jerky irregular playback
How can I get around this?
Im running Flash CS5 with all current updates. My flash is about 2400 frames long, and is running at 24fps. In the beginning, i had no problem exporting it. Now, when i publish/export/test/preview/ beg to work, the dialogue bar will pop up indicating that its exporting... Only to suddenly stop about 70% of the way through and dissapear. . no preview..no swf. and to make matters worse, it devours the swf i exported originally. Im not using any action script (ive been told that could be where the problem is). I have tried copying my frames into a fresh document, just in case the original is corrupt, but still had the same problem. Ive screwed with the publish settings enough to know the problem isnt there. Ive combed through my entire library, looking for corrupt files..still no success. Using mac os 10.6.7 and flash pro cs5. Read in adobe flash help that QTpro works better to create .mov file when exporting from flash. I purchased QTpro from apple and installed. It will not open an .swf of .fla. When I try to File>Export>Export Movie it opens and uses QT10 which can with mac. I've looked in System preferences, Flash preferences, and QTpro and QT10 preferences for option to select QT version to use when exporting from from flash. I've tried changing publishing settings to Flash 5, read somewhere QT doesn't support Flash layers after version 5,but didn't help. Am I missing something? My .swf looks good but when I export through the file command, export movie, .mov file is filled with artifacts. On a mac how can I export from Flash and end up an .mov .mpg .wmv or .avi?

View 17 RepliesI have Flash CS5 and I'm trying to export SWC from it to use as a library with Flex SDK (FlashDevelop). I have "Export SWC" checked in publish settings and for a while it worked. Now, even if it still is checked, SWC isn't created (at least in the same directory as SWF). I even tried creating a completely new FLA and copied everything from the old library in there. Still it doesn't work.

After lot of dissapointment, i recently converted that baner with 6 small pictures than 2 big pictures (previously). Now im thinking of changing or rotating those 6 pictures in flash. So my question is which flash player is the bestest to export to, i mean level fl5,6,7,8. I dont wanna export at most recent as it might bug users to upgrade their old flash player, when they browse my content.

I installed Flash CS4 Professional trial version for school use. It wouldn't install successfully. I deleted the font files the troubleshooting guide said to, tried again, but gave up. (I'm afraid to run regedit and mess up everything else I have loaded.) (I previously had the Fireworks CS4 trial version loaded, then uninstalled it.) My problem is this- I have it running, but it saves files and then they can't be opened, even if I use the save function often- it's worse when I create the file, test the movie and then save.If I try to open it again, it says "cannot open file." Once it opened a copy I had saved, and it appeared blank, even though it was 544 kb file size. I only need it for a few more days, one more assignment and I'm afraid my previous files are corrupt. I have Windows Vista Home Edition.
