ActionScript 3 :: Professional - "Rough" GIF Export From Files Impossible?

Aug 29, 2010

I just upgraded from Flash CS3 to Flash CS5, and I've been playing with the various new features. However, I've just encountered an odd problem that I can't seem to find a solution to. In the past, I've made animated GIFs in CS3 by exporting them with the "Smooth" box unchecked. This was really convenient for me because not only could I export crisp pixel bitmaps from Flash, but I could edit it in another program later. I was planning on making some GIF animations via this process with the aid of the bone tool in CS4 and 5.

When I tried exporting frames of of a figure created with the bone tool in CS5, however, I got images that were fuzzy and often had distorted colors. After some time, I realized that this was because in CS3, I had exported the images from ActionScript 2 files, while the bone tool only works in ActionScript 3 files. Is it not possible to export "rough" GIFs from ActionScript 3 files, or is there a trick to doing that that I'm somehow missing?

Professional :: Flash CS5 Doesn't Export - AIl Files Or Save AS3 Legacy?

May 9, 2010

For those of you that use Flash like I do, as a drawing tool, then you may be disappointed to find that Flash CS5 no longer exports your graphics as .ai files. Your only options are .swf, .fxg, .bmp, .jpg, .gif, .png.Often I use Flash and Illustrator together. I'll draw in Flash and export to Illustrator. I mainly use Illustrator when I need text on a curved line. Then I bring that text back in to Flash.

It's odd because one time I just typed in .ai into the filename and it did indeed create an .ai file. However, just now, I tried to do that again and it won't work for me. ALSO... I upgrade from Flash CS3 to CS5 ultimately skipping CS4. The problem is, CS5 only let's you save to legacy CS4. So my CS3 version can't open my CS4 or CS5 files.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Drawing A Rough / Textured Line?

Oct 11, 2010

Can anyone think of a clever, low-impact way to draw a line that has a slight rough texture, as if drawn with a thick pencil on paper? The only two ways I can think of would be:

1) Knowing the two points that you're normally lineTo() to, you can can do a bit of math to draw a long, thin rectangle from those two points, and bitmapFill it with a textured bitmap with an alpha channel.

2) Knowing the two points, and then figuring out the distance between, you can draw a single circle at xxx intervals along that line's point, slightly varying the radius of the circle and the x/y value so it appears rough. Is there a simpler way someone can think of?

Professional :: Best Way To Export To .gif

Jan 22, 2010

Would anyone mind looking at my attached .fla file to see where I might be going wrong.  All of the images I imported into flash were edited in photoshop CS4 and saved as .png files.  Is this the preferred method?  When I export my animation it slows down and becomes all grainy.  I am trying to create a .gif similar to the one I have also attached that was created in flash by a professional design firm.  What would this guy (the guy that created the attached .gif file) have done differently?

Professional :: CS5 Won't Export A New Swc?

Dec 12, 2010

I've been having similar issues as many others regarding saving xfl and fla files out of flash cs5.  I have managed to get through them with various methods of recreating files, make new flas, and coping the library over, and the like.. (All of which is crap by the way, saving issues should NEVER be an issue)The answer from support seems to be "You have a corrupt asset". If this is the case then flash corrupted it. </RANT>The issue I'm having now however, is that I can no longer get it to export a new swc. I'm using the swc with a Pure AS3 project.I can save the xfl file just fine.I can compile it and it doesn't complain (though there isn't much to compile other than images and movieclips containing those images)I can re-open the file just fine.

I am not saving across a network, but directly to a local disk.As far as I know, I don't have odd characters in the clip names, but if there are its by mistake, and there is virtually no way of discovering which one it is.I am on the latest version of Flash Pro CS5 (11.0.2.489)So, to Support:e at adobe please look at this file and tell me what is not allowing it to build the swc?  Or better yet, tell me how to find out?I'm sure its breaking in the middle and giving up but not ever throwing an error.Is there a way to find out what asset is breaking it?

Jquery :: Smooth Ticker In IE8 ... Impossible?

Jun 4, 2011

I have a web page generated with PHP which has a lot of divs with rollover effects. It represents a table with more than 200 cells, but is made of divs instead of a table because I've read they are more efficient (specially in IE8 which has turn out my nightmare in this project!) In the same page I want to put a ticker for user messages with horizontal text scrolling. I have tried to implement the ticker in different ways: pure Javascript or with jquery pluggins: [URL] Well, the thing is that the ticker works great when the page loads, but as soon as the user starts to move the cursor over the table (rollover effects are triggered) the ticker becomes very jerky in IE8 (Firefox works almost perfect)

After a lot of work tunning my PHP/HTML code I gave up and decided to embed a flash object for the ticker in order to relieve the browser part of the scripting and delegate it to flash. My surprise was that it had the same defect. I am not an expert in how the browser deals with flash objects but I really though it would be a solution. I've found a example which illustrate the problem. [URL] This a page with a commercial flash object. It's really much more than what I need, but if you try (with IE8) to move the cursor around the right section of the page, over the elements with rollover effects, you'll notice that the ticker becomes less smooth. Imagine that within a page with 200 divs!

Professional :: Export To Qt Does Not Finish?

Sep 27, 2010

I am using cs5 flash to try to export a .fla file for a client to quicktime format. The end result being a DVD playable in dvd players. I have production premium and fcs, but the only option I have found is to open the file in flash professional cs5 and there is an export to qt option.

I export it, and it comes up with "Recording Flash Content" and displays a status bar. The status bar fills completely up and does not finish. Is there an issue I am not aware of?

I will state that there were missing fonts, but I just assume they were replaced and could it be an issue with that?

Edit:  It is a 3 min clip so i just set it to end at 4 mins, and the status bar completed, but now the Compressing status bar does not even start to move or fill, and the application stops responding.

Professional :: Export To SWF Never Finishes

Mar 12, 2011

I'm working on a 3 minute animation that is 53.7 MB right now. I periodically export the file to swf to see how it looks as I'm working on it.

It got the point where it was taking around 30 seconds to export which I'm used to when my animations get longer. However, now it constantly gets stuck at 90% and I get the rainbow wheel cursor. I waited 30 minutes thinking it needed to catch up with itself and nothing changed. I always end up having to force quit out of Flash because it's not responding.

I've tried numerous things to try and get it to export such as quitting and restarting Flash, doing a complete shutdown and starting Flash, and copy pasting all my frames into a new Flash file and saving. No matter what it always stops at 90% and no longer responds.
