Flash :: Export SWC Makes Big .swc And .swf Files?
Sep 9, 2010
Using Flash CS5, when activating Export SWC in the Flash Publish Settings, I end up with a much bigger file (500 ko) than when the SWC is not activated (around 100 ko).
When I try to export my application to native installer with using Export Build Release, it isn't importing my sqlite database files which are in my application directory. Is there a way that I can import those database files ?
I'm making a intro for kids and i loaded the .swf using the loader concept in action script.3.0. and m confused how to export this files which can be played when user insert the cd/dvd in cd/dvd rom.like we can find some interactive cds like movies or games..etc!!so how can i render in this way which can be interactive apart from swf!
I am writing an article about CS5 and FXG and I really would like know whether Flash CS5 can export to FXG and read FXG files. It can do both or just export?
I'm developping a mobile application in Flash builder. So in Flash Builder Burrito , I was using the Flex Hero SDK 4.5.0 but they currently realesed the Flex4.5.0.20967.
I downloaded the zip file [URL]
I extracted it into a map on my C: drive. Then I opened my flash builder burrito. Added him by (Window>Flash Builder>Installed Flex SDK's. I his add and added my location.
This went very well. I changed my code with the new commands.
Next I wanted to test on my android phone but now my problem: I can't make any apk files anymore.
For those of you that use Flash like I do, as a drawing tool, then you may be disappointed to find that Flash CS5 no longer exports your graphics as .ai files. Your only options are .swf, .fxg, .bmp, .jpg, .gif, .png.Often I use Flash and Illustrator together. I'll draw in Flash and export to Illustrator. I mainly use Illustrator when I need text on a curved line. Then I bring that text back in to Flash.
It's odd because one time I just typed in .ai into the filename and it did indeed create an .ai file. However, just now, I tried to do that again and it won't work for me. ALSO... I upgrade from Flash CS3 to CS5 ultimately skipping CS4. The problem is, CS5 only let's you save to legacy CS4. So my CS3 version can't open my CS4 or CS5 files.
I have this function within my flash program that allows a person to make notes, at the moment they notes are just saved from a dynamic textfield to variable and hover around in flash output space, now I really need to get it so that when they click 'save' it exports the text from flash and saves it onto the users computer. I really don't want to use fscommand... and I know it can be done with PHP but trying to find a suitable tutorial is harder than I thought... so I would wondering if anyone could recommend a good tutorial or has done it before and can give some tips?
I've an AIR app which prints a couple of DataGrids with approximately 3 pages worth of data each. I get great-looking printouts, but the printing is slow - I noticed that printing these 6 pages + a title page and a page of lightweight images was sent to the printer in a file of almost 50 MB (on Windows). Is this a normal size for a printed DataGrid? Is there anything I can do to make it smaller and faster?
After looking at all of the Flash software types, I am confused as to what to download and try. I simply want to export AVI files to FLV. I do not want to do anything else with flash at this time.
I just recently finished the snowflake tutorial and made a very nice movie with some minor tweaks of my own into the coding, and I'm very new to flash (this being the first many experiences with it). I want to create a movie that I can make full screen without the task bar at the top (maybe in windows movie viewer or quicktime), but there is no option to play the movie, only to test. When I export the movie into an AVI files, nothing happens.
I made an application in Flex 4. When I export a release build, it generates a whole bunch of files. (including the skins used, etc, etc.)How do I make those plentiful files except the container HTML file, get compiled into a single SWF file?E.g.My folder should only contain:
my_app.swf my_app.html
But my_app.swf should still run like a normal Flex 4 app, only this time, all the files, images, skins, etc are inside that one SWF file.
I just upgraded from Flash CS3 to Flash CS5, and I've been playing with the various new features. However, I've just encountered an odd problem that I can't seem to find a solution to. In the past, I've made animated GIFs in CS3 by exporting them with the "Smooth" box unchecked. This was really convenient for me because not only could I export crisp pixel bitmaps from Flash, but I could edit it in another program later. I was planning on making some GIF animations via this process with the aid of the bone tool in CS4 and 5.
When I tried exporting frames of of a figure created with the bone tool in CS5, however, I got images that were fuzzy and often had distorted colors. After some time, I realized that this was because in CS3, I had exported the images from ActionScript 2 files, while the bone tool only works in ActionScript 3 files. Is it not possible to export "rough" GIFs from ActionScript 3 files, or is there a trick to doing that that I'm somehow missing?
Does anyone have an idea as to why this happens? The dropdown menus work fine (they are a flash app)The dropdown menus do not work.I'm unfamiliar with how to make a redirect if they just type the url without the 'www'
What are the rules for something to be a GC root in Flash? I'm using the Flash Builder 4 profiler, and I'm finding odd things are labeled as GC roots in the object reference details (e.g., an Image control that is no longer in the display list, nor static).
I've made a site where an iframe calls to a top navigation element, with a javascript drop down menu. I have it working where the menu drops over a center flash element, but even when the menu is not "dropped" - any element in that area on the flash does not respond to clicks.
I've changed z indexes, and now i cant seem to get the flash file to even be ontop of the iframe -
What makes a camera compatible with flash? I have a camera I purchased from IDS Imaging and it shows up in my camera list in as3 with print out the array made from Camera.names. But when I go to use it, it just doesn't show up. I do have a lens on it, and it can see it working when I used the IDS software provided for testing. I've also been able to make it work in c#, but I want to use it for a flash app I'm developing.
I'm developing a kiosk in AS3 that utilizes StageVideo (publishing for FP 10.2 on a Mac Mini). It works fine, except as soon as StageVideo is engaged the mouse becomes visible. This is a public kiosk so I need the mouse to stay hidden.
I have flash resizing it's container div by using external interface to call the javascript:[code]Now this appears to work fine in every browser except chrome. For some reason after the div is shrunk back down to size, the flash player looks like it's frozen. It's actually not frozen because if you resize the window the flash player starts playing again and you can see it had made progress since it appeared frozen. This only happens in chrome. Does anyone have any idea why something like this might happen? The site so you can check it out yourself(yes I know it's a broken mess in IE, but I'm kind of ignoring that for now):[code]I've tried different window modes but that doesn't help. The problem is when it resizes the div back down because if I comment that line out the flash never appears to freeze. But I need to be able to resize the div...
There seems to be increasing demand for Silverlight skills, but out of the many new technologies that Microsoft has punted, I've never felt as if it was the next big thing! Am I wrong? Should I be gaining those skills?
There's obviously a well-established competitor in Flash, and there's a host of other Rich Internet toolkits out there, as well as HTML5 on the horizon.
If I invest time now in skilling up, I'm not sure I'll ever see my return on investment...
I've got several custom classes. Let's call them "Character", which is supposed to import and use "Head". Then "Head" imports and uses "Hat". That works just fine...
[Code]....
This runs without a hitch. Simple as pie... But if I try to create a new instance of "Hat" or even define the Hat variable in "Character", it gives me the compile time error: 1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: Hat. If I try to define "Hat" class and create a new instance of "Hat" in my main script, or in "Hat" it works like a charm... If I try to do it in my "Character" it gives me this godforsaken error. I've checked my imports, they're all the same!! Why in the world is it doing this?!
Im trying to set some text using a TLF text inside Flash CS5. I create a TLF text inside a movieclip, to later access and modify that text at runtime, the problem is, when I load the symbol of the movieclip from Flash Builder, it says that it cant be found, If I delete the TLF text, and publish it again, it works ok... I have no compilation errors.
What cuould be the issue?, doesn't matter if I assign an instance name to the text or not, as soon as I place the TLF text there, my main swf's symbol cant be found..
I am trying to get my mc to move up and have copies of that same mc follow about every 40 pixels. Basically a scroll with my "8ball" mc. Showing the mc every 30 pixels in the y-direction. I am using this code in the mc and I get a message saying that the script is causing Flash Player to run slowly.[code]
I have a Movieclip on which there is a Video Player in the left and thumbnails in the right. The thumbnails are of other videos and aligned in 4x4 grid. Every thumbnail has a small description (textfield) below it. The number of thumbnails are dynamic and there may be n number of videos. So I have written a pagenation code for them, by which 16 thumbnails will be visible on each page. Now when I change one page to other, I need to rotate the thumbnails with text in Y axis and display new thumbnails and their respective text. I have embedded the font Arial and I am adding the textfields from as3. But even after rotation, the text becomes blurred. I am setting the following properties:
I'm working on CS4 / Windows 7. I recently moved from XP where everything worked fine. My problem is that compiling any movie now takes about 40 seconds longer than before. I have been able to narrow down the issue to this. There is folder in my classpath which is on a local network. It is this folder that is causing the issue. Plus, even if this folder is not required at all to compile the movie it slows it down anyway. As soon as that folder is removed from my classpath everything works as it should -- of course, for movies which don't require that folder to compile :-) --. Having said that removing the folder or changing its location is not the solution I'm looking for.
I've been adding some components to a Flex 4 app (it was originally Flex 3 but has been ported). Some of these components make the app go blank when it loads. I'm not even able to see the loading progress bar. Just white.
To the root tag causes this. I also was able to make it happen when I tried setting a custom components skin from my style sheet instead of from the skinClass property.
I've been thinking about flash and html5 and though each of them can draw circles, rectangles, curves, and do things with images, doesn't it really come down to the artwork? Game play aside (I know ugly games can be fun), all the talk about which looks best canvas or flash or something else, kind of moot? Don't the great games, graphically speaking, have great artwork and modeling so that as long as the engine can handle it, the programming anything other than events associated with those models and artwork doesn't matter? I'm watching my kid play Frontiersville on Facebook and I'm thinking, I could program those events but it's the artwork that's grabbing people and good gameplay keeps them. In the end does the platform really matter for games?
I'm no expert in actionscript and certainly not in AS3 but I managed to create (witfrom this:a eleastic string effect from a point to a draggable movieclip.Problem is the script seems to crash flash or the browser when I test it. (Not right away just when I'm playing around with the movieclip)Sinse I'm in over my head in the script I compiled I'm not exactly sure whats wrong.bit of google research hinted that it might have something to do with removeChildAt() wich I changed from removeChildAt(0) to removeChildAt(1) to prevent it from removing my movieclip.Hope somebody has the patience to read through my script to see what I did wrong.
Object(this).leaf_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, mouseDownHandler); stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, mouseUpHandler); var origX:int = Object(this).leaf_mc.x + 1;
