Flash :: Professional - Unused LAN Classpath Makes To Compile Very Slow
Mar 2, 2011
I'm working on CS4 / Windows 7. I recently moved from XP where everything worked fine. My problem is that compiling any movie now takes about 40 seconds longer than before. I have been able to narrow down the issue to this. There is folder in my classpath which is on a local network. It is this folder that is causing the issue. Plus, even if this folder is not required at all to compile the movie it slows it down anyway. As soon as that folder is removed from my classpath everything works as it should -- of course, for movies which don't require that folder to compile :-) --. Having said that removing the folder or changing its location is not the solution I'm looking for.
I keep trying to get started with Papervision, but I must be entering the classpath incorrectly as I keep getting errors that the compiler cannot find the classes. Is there some kind of bug with setting the classpath on a mac?I checked out the papervision stuff so it sits in:
Inside the src folder is a folder called "org", which contains "papervision3d" and the folders of classes. To set the classpath, I've gone to Preferences, chosen ActionScript, clicked on the ActionScript 3.0 button at the bottom, clicked the plus sign, and then clicked on the little folder button to add a path to the Library box (the middle box). I browsed and selected:
I thought at this point (after quitting and restarting Flash) that if I created a class file that had, for example,
import org.papervision3d.cameras.*
that it would work -- but it doesn't. It only works if I save the .fla and .as files themselves in /Applications/Adobe Flash CS 5/Papervision/as3/trunk/src/, in the same folder as the "org" folder. And I guess this means that the path in the Preferences setting is useless.
Firstly, is it possible to speed up the process of compile and run (ctrl+shift+enter), because it's so slow and it's very annoying when you do minor changes and you want to quickly see the effect
Secondly, many times at compile & run command flash player doesn't fire up, because it's running in memory for no reason, and there in no flash movie playing, so it's really nasty that I have to keep killing process to be able to run the movie.
I would like to keep my project library tidy, which means deleting symbols I end up not using. However, I want to be able to find these symbols later in case I do end up wanting to use them for a related project. Can I create a library outside of a project, so I can drop these items into it for later use?
What makes a camera compatible with flash? I have a camera I purchased from IDS Imaging and it shows up in my camera list in as3 with print out the array made from Camera.names. But when I go to use it, it just doesn't show up. I do have a lens on it, and it can see it working when I used the IDS software provided for testing. I've also been able to make it work in c#, but I want to use it for a flash app I'm developing.
My version of Flash CS5 has recently become very slow to start up, taking well over a minute sometimes. It appears to stall for the longest time during a loading process called "Loading Accelerators" (yes, very ironic).Mac Pro running Mac OSX 10.6.7 (Snow Leopard) and 14Gb RAM.
If you have a very large project Flash CS5 fails to compile it. The same error used to occur in CS4 until the 10.0.2 patch was released. Is this going to be fixed in Flash CS5? Currently Flash CS5 is completely useless to us because of this problem.
My aim is to compile bulk FLA's (say 50). can we compile .FLA's without using Flash IDE using command Line?If so how it can be done.provide with an example.I have used JSFL concept for publishing bulk FLA's. But it will work using Flash IDE. This is not what i need.
I am building a website entirely out of flash. I know thats not a great idea, but it is not the biggest website in the world, however it does contain seven or eight .sws that take some time to load. When I test the website via a cable connection (T1), the speed of opening the website is not bad, but on DSL pretty slow.I dot want to turn people away from my site how can I make sure my flash site doest load that slow? Ie read somewhere that if you put all the .Ss into one master file it could make the site load faster.seen some flash websites that are big and their files load
I'm using Flash Develop to build an as3 application using the Flex compiler. In the constructor of a particular class I have written the following code
Code: //constructor public function Test(par1:int, arr:/*int*/Array = [1, 2]){ <----- compiler shows error here
I have a problem and I don't know where to start debugging it.I have some buttons with rollovers and I'm using strings to try and automate localization. All the buttons have two frame with the same text in each frame, but with a different color applied. I use the same ID for each frame as the translations will be the same. When I compile the movie I get this error
butIntroHow, Line 151086: Syntax error: expecting semicolon before rightparen.
from the button. I haven't any action script attached to the button, so I presume at compile time some code is added to deal with localization.
I just updated playerglobal.swc according this tutorial [URL] but when I compile swf, player version shows: WIN 10,2,153,2 how to update standalone player to version FP 11?
I have a flash carousel that works perfectly however it moves too quickly. I am not familiar with flash so I'm curious as to whether or not anyone can tell me how to slow the rotation speed down. If necessary you can download a complete example of my carousel below. Also any of you who want a nice free carousel.
Ever since I installed Flash CS4 on my computer, it runs fine for a while before becoming really slow to respond and a pain to use, so I have gone back to using Flash 8 which runs fine. Is this a problem with my computer or the program?
There is probably no way for this but does anyone know a method of excluding certain functions from a build by use of a meta tag and or compiler option?I want to expose some functions for testing but not have them bloat the application on production. I could create separate testing classes and test for a complier directive or option and only load them if necessary but I like the idea of having the test function on the actual object (in the class).
I have a really big project that has gone through many iterations, and has gotten very large. I am certain there are a lot of library items that are not being used, but I am not sure how to identify them. The FLA file is really large, 500 MB. And I am running into memory problems. Is there a way to remove all unused library items in an FLA? Or at least identify them?
Why is it that the flash animation is so slow to upload to the site...Is this something I need to do or something to discuss with the server folks at Godaddy?
I have problems with flash games and some advanced flash applications.Problems occurs regardless of browser. My computer is next:CPU: 2.8GHz hyper threadRAM: 1.5 GB (3 pieces)GPU: Nvidia 7600 GS Gigabyte. When it runs some flash game e.g. Facebook Pet Society, CPU load goes high as 80 to 100 %. It is very annoying thing since I am starting to loose my mind how to solve this. All other applications are running very good. This means games, 720p HD videos etc etc.
I'm using a new Mac Pro with Snow Leopard. We have Adobe MC CS5.I'm experiencing serious problems with Flash CS5. The program locks up at "Initializing Tools" for several minutes at start up. Once the program opens it will crash if I try to create a blank document. Other Adobe programs work fine.Flash CS4 worked fine on this computer.Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I've tried uninstalling and deleting all adobe documents from the configuration folders. It just seems like this machine is cursed or something.
I have recently launched a site for a client which includes an interactive flash element on the home page but it takes a long time to load (10-30seconds). I have followed advice from others about keeping image small and link movies rather than embed but still slow, the swf file is about 7.9mb which i thought was ok for the size of flash file. Does anyway else know where I have gone wrong whether it be the embedding or some other area.
Now getting this error: Symbol 'levelcomplete'1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: nextlevelBtn. Hi guys, Beginner here having some trouble creating my first flash drag and drop jigsaw puzzle game. The drag and drop jigsaw puzzle works to some extent, but it is the "level complete" movieclip which is causing problems. On testing the movie i get this error:1061: Call to a possibly undefined method addEventListener through a reference with static type Class.
Long time lurker who can't find an answer thatfits this specific problem. I apologize if it has been answered. In the pic below, notice the edges. They look great on the stage, but I can't get the rendered .swfto look the same.
I have many flas with Document Classes associated to them. I have been using them successfully on both Mac and PC for over a year now. But just last week when ever I transfer the files to my Mac to work on them I get the error class not found on your classpath one will automatically be generated upon export.
Is there parts of the files that can become corrupted but continue to work on the PC? I have not changed anything in my classpath recently and some files have retained the link and some have not. I have tried transferring the files many ways now and even tested them on other macs and both macs have the same problem. I've emailed the files, used a flash drive, done interenet transfers (FTP) and I still have the same error. I can open the files fine too.
I'm having trouble with my computer and the latest version of Flash. What happens is that everytime i get in contact with a flash-based media on the internet (Youtube, banners, games, etc.) my computer freezes and after 15 seconds it starts 'melting', as in the pixels slowly turning blue and black. This happened right after i installed the latest version of Flash. I have to take the battery out of the computer to get it working, which is offcourse not healthy.
Does anybody have an idea what this is due to and how it can be fixed? I am pretty desperate.
How can I set the classpath for .as files in flex?
Im using the free flex 3 SDK, with a plain text editor... And I want to be able to import files from my previous libraries.. So how do I set the classpath to those?
I want to open/convert a class in Flash that has was build for Flex. Now there are includes like StringUtil wich are easy to rewrite and others like bitmapasset which are not found. Is it possible to add the core classes of flex to my classpath?
