Aug 20, 2009I have a swf that is loading another swf into a ScrollPane. The swf being loaded is large...around 4mb. My problem is that sometimes it loads fine, sometimes it loads without the scrollbar, and sometimes you need to refresh the page before it loads fully and correctly. My question: How can I easily test that it has fully loaded and that the scroll bars are displaying? I've tried various scenarios with ProgressBars, etc., but even when 100% loaded, the scroll bars do not consistently load.

Oct 9, 2006I am loading a menu consisting of a library of items, based on my XML file into a combo box. I have menu working correctly. When I click on an library item in the combo box, it's supposed to load the items into my scrollPane called "thumbs". Now what is happening is, the appropriate number of items are getting loaded to the scrollPane in the form of a movieClip called appropriately "thumbs_mc", but the actual swf doesn't get loaded. I can't seem to figure out whats going on.

Aug 5, 2009I have been working on a file for a while now and I am trying to load an external swf into a scrollpane. The external swf gets all its content from an xml file (there is nothing on the stage, it's all done through as3) My problem is that when I load the swf into the scrollpane I don't get the scroll bars and most of my content is cut off. I have tried setting the scroll policy to auto, and true, neither helped. Can anybody tell me what I am doing wrong?

May 6, 2010The site is structured with all content inside entireSite, with two further movie clips nested myMenu, which contains all the button movieclips (rollovers etc) and AS to navigate the site and another entitled allPages which contains all the content.
on entrance to the site i want a grid of images appears which is scrollable using scroll pane. I have managed to achieve this just on a standalone .fla following this tutorial with the code

with the code sitting on the main timeline
now i have structired my site properly im having difficulty getting it to load correctly. I have the correct instance names for scrollpane and the linkage for the movie clip i want to load. im just wondering that now my scrollpane is nested in entireSite then allPages that the code will not recognise it?
How do i make it point to it? Also, as i move between different pages of the site more content will require a scrollPane, can i just use different instance names to do this?
Or should i go about removing the movieclip in scrollpane and adding a new one?

Sep 3, 2004whats up with the scrollpane.Ive got it loading my swf files into it but for sum reason u can press the buttons even if theyre not showing. see below see the button on the top left how it is darkened, this is the over state, but the mouse isnt actualy on the button, its above the scrollpane area, but its still being selected and is able to be clicked.

Nov 19, 2010i am trying to import an external movie clip in a scrollpane in my flash movie my external movie is an animated sequence which expands on click of a button much like a data tree but here its just images so now i want that when someone clicks on the expand button the scroll should appear but i ran into this problem that the swf load perfect but no matter what i do the scroll either doesn't appears or even if its there it won't scroll through the complete swf rather just 5px in vertical i defined a few basic properties in AS and some through the property inspector Check the attachment below if u want to

Sep 21, 2011I am developping a player with Articulate Presenter and Flash. I would like to put thumbnails that are in a special folder in swf, into a scrollPane. The scrollPane itself is in a clip loaded when I click on the Thumbnails Tab.

Well, my problem is that the ScrollPane is not scrolling until the end of the thumbnails, so I don't know if all the thumbnails are loaded. And even worse, exactly one time on two, the Scroll Bar is not showing at all ... !is it a scrollPane pb ? I use it many times in other parts of my project without any problem ... or is it because there are too many thumbnails ? I have around 30 - 40 to load ..

Nov 22, 2010I haven't been able to find a non-hack way to use Drag and Drop with the AS3 ScrollPane component.
Here's what I'm doing:
I create a container mc, which I then add a bunch of children to. The children are what I want to drag.
However, dragging is constrained to the boundaries of the ScrollPane. This seems to me like a limitation of the ScrollPane component.
I know it can be worked around with attaching a dupe mc to the cursor pos, then manipulating other mcs on mouse up, but..

I really don't understand why this happens, but when i comment out the code that loads the asc file, I can successfully connect to fms. I can't figure out what's happening here. Jan 6, 2010what I'm trying to do is make a preloader that will preload about 20 external SWF files before it lets you get to my main file. I want to do this because my main file needs the SWFs to be ready to go once its done loading. I have looked around and i found a few ways to do this with the "if (loadedBytes>=totalBytes)" and the code loops back till the files are done loading... this would be just what i need but i cant seem to get it to work. the file just seems to start loading my files but does not loop and just runs the time-line even once i state what frames i want it to loop.

I'm using NoChumps zip library to extract files from a zip. In this library the entire IDataStream is loaded into memory and after that you can extract file entries easily. In cases where the zip is 5 to 10MB there are no problems. But when the zip is 80MB, which many are, 80MB is loaded into memory. This causes the app to crash and run slow on mobile devices. According to the zip specification,
"A ZIP file is identified by the presence of a central directory located at the end of the file, this allows appending of new files. The directory stores a list of the names of the entries (files or directories) stored in the ZIP file, along with other metadata about the entry, and an offset into the ZIP file, pointing to the actual entry data."
Also, I do not have control of the size of zip files but most average is 60 to 100MB. Files inside are ~4MB.

May 18, 2011I have problem in loading multiple swf file into a main swf file. I will state the things clearly at first. I have a main Index file to which i have to load some swf files which i have placed in a seprate folder. I tried to load those movies to main swf file using loadMovie it worked well when i give the exact path of the swf movies in subfolders. Aslo it worked when i placed the entire swf files including the Index file on a single folder, this worked only on my local machine suppose if i copy those entire folder to some other Computer and tried to run the Index file it doesnt works if it is in an single folder it works. The thing i need is the Index file alone has to be placed on the main folder and rest of the Swf file has to be placed on sub folder so when i run the index file it has to load the required swf file from sub folder this even have to work when i run the application on some other computers.

When I go from scene 1 to scene 2 and load the movie, there is a 4 - 5 second delay before I get my Loading text. The file then loads rather quickly and the video file plays. I know this is a big file to load into memory from a CD, but would like the "Loading..." to display immeidately, so the user will know what is going on. Does anyone know why I am geting this delay or how to overcome it? Again, this is not an internal job or running from a web server. It is loading on a local client from a CD ROM drive.
