View 1 Repliesi've made a splash page in flash but i want to have it looping till someone clicks on the button.Would this be possible with AS3?
View 3 RepliesI have two animations on the timeline- one from say frame a to b and second from frame c to d. I would like the first animation to loop indefinitely till mouse moves over it, which triggers the second animation to start and loop until mouse it moved away.
View 3 RepliesI've been reading a lot about the benefits of Object Pooling. Found some "tutorials" online, all above my skill level. Can anyone please show me an extremely simple example of an Object Pool. What my game does is creates Ball objects when the user holds down the mouse, stops when user lifts up mouse. I need to store these Ball objects in an array(or Vector), and hit test them with other objects, removing them from the stage when the hit another object. I'd like to create a pool of say 20 of so, created once, and recycle them.

On a page with an embedded Flash video (from YouTube in an <iframe/>), is it possible to be notified through JavaScript when the user starts or stops playing a video?
As far as I know, events raised on Flash level are not propagated to the container page, so it is not possible to do that.
I made an interactive rotating globe that shows all the continents (using CS3 and AS3). The globe rotates automatically. When the user mouses over the globe is stops rotating and they can use left/right arrows to rotate it manually to get to a continent. When the mouse rolls over a continent (Australia for instance) it changes color and should be clickable and go to a website but it's not working. It doesn't return any errors. The basic structure of it is this:

I have a swf file which I created using Adobe Flash professional CS5.5, it's a basic animation of some birds with an audio, it is meant to reply every 5 seconds, but for some reason after it starts to play the second loop it stops mid way and restarts the video from the beginning.
This is my actionscript:
stop();
setInterval(wait, 10000);
function wait(){

I have run into a drag and drop issue .I have an item that I would like to drag and drop. Seems simple enough, but I also want to make it that if the user drags the image off the screen, that it stops dragging and returns the image to the center of the screen. What happens now is that it continues dragging and sticks to the cursor if you release outside of the viewable area. The original piece has a lot of other things going on, so I ve created a simple piece with the AS in the timeline that shows only this particular issue.
Code:
var mrT:MC_mrT = new MC_mrT;
addChild(mrT);
mrT.x = stage.stageWidth*.5;[code].............
I currently have a dynamic text box loading some html text (from external source) and scrolling automatically (need it to display news for a website that will be updated weekly by the client) .... I was wondering two things:
1 - Is it possible to endlessly loop the text (currently scrolls it and stops at the end)?
2 - My main movie is at 35 fps (too fast) can you set the speed of the scroll?
here is the actions on my container movie clip (very basic)

i have a soung loop that i want to "loop" in my movie.this is my script:
mySound = new Sound();
mySound.loadSound("loops/music.mp3",true);
the problem is that it only plays once (5 seconds long) and then stops, how do i get it to loop? - short of placing it on the timeline.

View 8 RepliesI'm converting some old Director/Shockwave animations to Flash, and I'm setting up a navigation system. I have a simple animation that runs from from 1 to frame 110, and I'd like it to loop until the user clicks a button. The timeline goes on beyond frame 110 with other stuff. In an "actions" layer in frame 110, I have the following
gotoAndPlay(1);
I thought that this would lead to the looping, but it doesn't. The movie just moves on beyond frame 110. Just as a test, I put the following at frame 110 instead.
stop();
and when I test the movie, it doesn't stop. The commands don't seem to be seen.
I am working on an interactive guitar tutorial. Lets say that the person is watching the video and doesnt understand part of the guitar line that I am showing them. Lets say that they do not understand what happens between 3 seconds and 11 seconds (this can be any point during the video). Is there any way that the user can loop any part of the video that they are having trouble with?
View 1 RepliesLet's say i'm developing a chessgame, that evaluates moves in a while loop. I want the user to stop the game from looping, and give the move she's come up with so far. Just to stop the waiting for the user. I came up with this (the enterframe is there to let it compile):
Code:
firstTime = true;
this.onEnterFrame = function() {

I'm making a plugin that used for posting a http url to the server every 3mins when we open a stream. and the server system will return
- 200 OK
- 400 FAIL.
In case of OK do nothing In case of FAIL stop the stream and open an pop-up window. User can press OK and a new page will be open.
I'm using some modified code from a chapter exercise (from a text book) to play four separate MP3s external to the FLA. Here's an example of what happens when a button is clicked:
[Code]....
The problem is, there's something of a noticeable stutter when the MP3 reaches the end, just before it starts up again. The first MP3 (contrary to the others), is a seamless ambient sound which ought to sound perfect in the FLA, but doesn't, again, because of the slight stutter in starting it up again. Is there a better way to do this? I thought, perhaps, this would be fixed if I removed the "stop();" line and instead had it play the next frame, which would invariably send it back to the previous one, but this changed nothing.
Is there a better method to use? Even with the other three MP3s, which aren't seamless, I want to loop, unless and until the user clicks the 'Mute' button. My last thread (about setInterval)received no replies, but I'm hoping this will, especially as this final project is due this Wednesday and I'd rather it not have this slight hiccup in it.
i have a simple matrix form that consist of 3*3 textfields. my problem is how to get the values that the user will enter into it by a loop, i mean not using a long way such:

I want my movie to loop. Would prefer an If/Else loop so that the movie plays a certain number of times then plays the opening of a screen then stops. This is a simple 4 screen ad I am doing for a school project. Can't get it to work. I tried containing my code in the proper loop syntax, didn't work. Then wrapping the loop in a function and calling that with a timer event, didn't work. My final solution was to call my whole movie in a timer event set to play once. Then calling the entire movie again in a second timer event set to play 20 times and set to start at an interval when the first movie ended. This did work but each time the movie plays thru function calls drop off making the movie degrade.

I want to load in a page in the backgrond. and not play it till i want it to start.
View 1 RepliesI am AS newbie and would like to ask how to do this in Flash MX:
1. I have 4 different still images incorporated into mc-s, pict00_mc - pict03_mc.
2. I fade these image mc-s into each other over the timeline using alpha.
3. I have a play and a stop button too, to control the animation.
4. I would like to achieve that anytime I press the stop button, it should stop not at any intermediate point (e.g. in the middle of the alpha animation) but ALWAYS at the start of the next picture with 100% alpha.
How to achieve this?
i have a loop that moves a game piece every time a dice is tossed using tweens (i loop the movement the amount that comes out on the dice). it all works fine.
the problem is that when mid movement i need to ask a user a quesition with a popup movie with buttons that would determine the movement - i cant pause the loop.
basically i need to know how to put a loop on hold until further user input
if i have a loop that increments a number by one until it hits a predefined amount- i want to pop up a menu that would ask the user if he wants to continue incrementing the number by 1 or by 2. I still want the loop to run a total set amount of times (lets say 100)
I am trying to figure out how to draw a line, from a movie-clip, downwards until it hits another movie-clip. And also if another movie-clip intersects the line, how would I make it draw to the new object that intersected with the line.
View 1 RepliesI have code on frame one and buttons that I don't want to appear until later frames.This is my first time in Flash and can't figure it out. How would I write that?
View 1 RepliesI just started with AS3 and i have a problem with conditionals. I have 3 buttons which animate on RollOver and they animated on RollOut. But i wanna prevent that when 1 button is active the others can be activated as well, though i can't get it to work properly.
This is my code,
Code: Select allvar buttonReady = true;
function move_to_top() {
parent.setChildIndex(this, parent.numChildren-1);
buttonReady = false;
[Code].....
What this is supposed to do is when you RollOver it sets the var buttonReady to false and when the RollOut is done it sets the var buttonReady to true.
I traced this in every step of the progress and the var is adjusting to true and false though it looks like it's ignoring the if statement.
how do I make it to where the flash wont start until someone moves their mouse over it
View 4 RepliesI have a swf file which is hardly 200 KBs. I have placed a preloader bar as well as have the script - ifFrameLoaded().Problem is the preloader is not showing till the loaded value is around 90%.Since this file has a bit of actionscript involved (for interactive features) I doubt if that could be a hinderance.
View 6 RepliesIt only scroll till 107 line of text not more than that, is there is any possibility to make it more???

View 4 RepliesI have 3 objects. One is a Movieclip, and other 2 are buttons (forward and backward)[code]...
Inside MC there are several animations with stop(); where it should stop till clicking Next button to play till the next stop.[code]...
I am creating a learning document. I would like to disable nextpage button till all other buttons clicked and movieclip finished.I try to use if stamement but I could not be successfull because my nexpage button is on main frame and my other buttons on movieclip.
I disable nextpage button mainframe and I use following code using AS2.
btn1.onPress = function(){
_parent.forwardBtn._visible=false;
}
[code]....
I have three picture and buttons. Therefore user need to enlarge picture by pressing buttons after viewing all image. Then user need to move next page. The next page is another movie clip. I would like to disable nextpage button here to till MC complete.
