Javascript :: SWF File Stops After 2nd Loop?
Sep 10, 2011
I have a swf file which I created using Adobe Flash professional CS5.5, it's a basic animation of some birds with an audio, it is meant to reply every 5 seconds, but for some reason after it starts to play the second loop it stops mid way and restarts the video from the beginning.
This is my actionscript:
stop();
setInterval(wait, 10000);
function wait(){

On a page with an embedded Flash video (from YouTube in an <iframe/>), is it possible to be notified through JavaScript when the user starts or stops playing a video?
As far as I know, events raised on Flash level are not propagated to the container page, so it is not possible to do that.

I currently have a dynamic text box loading some html text (from external source) and scrolling automatically (need it to display news for a website that will be updated weekly by the client) .... I was wondering two things:
1 - Is it possible to endlessly loop the text (currently scrolls it and stops at the end)?
2 - My main movie is at 35 fps (too fast) can you set the speed of the scroll?
here is the actions on my container movie clip (very basic)

I need to execute some javascript string code from flash swf file using actionscript 3.
I read that it could be done by passing the javascript code to the parent html document , using externalinterface.call function. Then I assume it will be faster if I can declare functions in the javascript code in the HTML document in the first use of externalinterface.call funtion ; if flash code calls the javascript code repeatedly. So let me ask you how to do that. For details , any javascript to be loaded is unknown in design time and I can not prepare a javascript file to be loaded.

Is it possible to pass file names from a running Flash application, which only purpose is to enable multiple-file-selection, to a JavaScript application which handles upload of all files to the server?I have examined various Flash upload solutions (like SWFUpload, Uploadify, etc.) and none of them meets my needs. I want an easy to implement solution (like Uploadify) which also lets me specify various parts of the HTTP request.
The reason I need this is because my upload form uses session cookies (for user authentication) and an CSRF token both passed to the server when uploading files.Is it technically possible to pass filenames (+ paths) to a JavaScript application which then handles the upload?

I'd like to call a javascript function from an embedded .swf file. Specifically, I'd like to call a function in one of my externally linked javascript files from within: function loadTrack(){
[Code]...
which is in an .as file which I assume somehow becomes the swf file. How would I go about this and 're-compile' the .as file?

I have a flash file that contains a package "game" which has a class "Scores" and a method setValue(). I want to write some lines of Javascript that allow me to call that method. Someone directed me to this tutorial, but I am still a bit confused.
Javascript: alert("start"); var so; so = document.embeds[0];
so.addParam("allowScriptAccess","always"); import flash.external.ExternalInterface;
ExternalInterface.call("setValue[2600]");
displays an alert to tell me that it has indeed began to execute saves the embedded flash file into a variable and sets access imports that class calls the method.I am not sure about how this class thing works? This is just the bits and pieces I was able to come up with from that site, but I don't really understand how it all works (but certainly hope to eventually).This is the site: http:[url]...how-do-i-access-flash-function-using-javascript.When I execute the code with the importation nothing happens, but the alert does come up when I don't have that statement?

I have uploaded an .swf file to my site but when I embed it into my site page it won't play all the way through, it just freezes about half way. But the same .swf file will play fine in Flash.. I am using a content management system called Teamsite.
This file is not especially large only 377KB, I have tried removing images to reduce the size down to 96KB and it will still freeze. The file is just rotating images and uses no fancy effects just a simple fade.

I made a multiple file uploader with resize. All works fine, but sometimes uploading fails and nothing happens.
I've spent many times to find out why this happens, but with no result.
I assume error can be caused by variables that goes after import declarations. Maybe some of they are destroyed by the garbage collection? Or maybe my eventListeners are wrong?
take a look at my code:
ActionScript Code:
import flash.events.Event;
import flash.net.FileReferenceList;
import flash.external.ExternalInterface;
[Code]....
I added eventListeners for handling errors (IOException etc.), but none of they was triggered. So now I've removed that listeners to simplify the code.
Do you have any thoughts about why uploading interrupt sometimes? Or maybe you notice some errors in my code?

A script on my page is causing an infinite loop in FireFox. Here is the Javascript:
function expandMothersRings(new_height) {
window.scrollTo(0, 0);
$('#mr-container').animate({
height: new_height
}, 100, function() {
// Animation complete.
});}
This is being called via ExternalInterface from a Flex object:
var tiles_height:Number = 175+Math.ceil(MothersRingData.getInstance().styleArrayCollection.length/4)*175;
ExternalInterface.call("expandMothersRings", tiles_height + 300);
There is no issue in IE or Chrome. But for some reason the expandMothersRings function is infinitely looping in FF. The flex object is not expecting any return value from Javascript. Also if I change the JS function to look like:
function expandMothersRings(new_height) {
alert(new_height);
}
Then it only executes once. So something in the function is causing it to loop in Firefox.

I want my movie to loop. Would prefer an If/Else loop so that the movie plays a certain number of times then plays the opening of a screen then stops. This is a simple 4 screen ad I am doing for a school project. Can't get it to work. I tried containing my code in the proper loop syntax, didn't work. Then wrapping the loop in a function and calling that with a timer event, didn't work. My final solution was to call my whole movie in a timer event set to play once. Then calling the entire movie again in a second timer event set to play 20 times and set to start at an interval when the first movie ended. This did work but each time the movie plays thru function calls drop off making the movie degrade.

Is there any "mainstream" library used for this purpose? Commonly spread, well maintained, documented etc.I found these (using flash):
Uploadify - not many releases, latest 12/2010, no documentation (!)
SWFUpload - latest release 03/2010, documentation
fancyupload - looks buggy.
phpfileuploader - looks heavyweight, and looks commercial (?) I cannot read the licence (you can download it but are you allowed to use it forever without paying?) plupload New version of pure javascript (no flash) Valums' ajax upload claims to handle file size limit and progress bar, which is quite suspicious to me: these features require to guess the file size before the upload, which seems impossible in javascript (look also here). Or can it work?

is there a simple way to just pull back a true or false value from an associated javascript file to a flash file? here is what i have:
Code:
var bincheck:Boolean = fscommand("eval", "parent.check_bins(\'"+img+"\')");
if (!bincheck){return false;}
return true;
check_bins(img) is a function in my javascript file that simply iterates through an array, returning false if "img" is found. im simply trying to get the true or false value back into flash, but its not proving that simple. i added a couple alerts so that i could see what the "bincheck" value was, and i keep getting an 'undefined' value for "bincheck" in flash.

what I'm trying to do is make a preloader that will preload about 20 external SWF files before it lets you get to my main file. I want to do this because my main file needs the SWFs to be ready to go once its done loading. I have looked around and i found a few ways to do this with the "if (loadedBytes>=totalBytes)" and the code loops back till the files are done loading... this would be just what i need but i cant seem to get it to work. the file just seems to start loading my files but does not loop and just runs the time-line even once i state what frames i want it to loop.

I have some animation (programmatic, I'm NOT using keyframed animation in timeline), and some music I want to play in the background. Once the music file reaches the end (about 30 seconds long), I want to trigger the end of the animation functions.I figure I could either use an actionscript timer to trigger the end of the animation or a keyframe with actionscript that is placed on the timeline near the end of the song but these methods assume knowledge about the duration of the wave file. If I changed the framerate or updated the external wave file, these triggers would possibly no longer sync upIs there some sort of event listener or other detection method for an audio file to signal it has finished playing? Or maybe there is a way to get the duration of the audio file to use in the timer

I have the need to change a variable in a child Flash file.
The setup is a parent Flash file, that has called a child Flash, and placed it in a movieClip.
I can send a variable using Javascript to the parent Flash file, but not directly to the child Flash file. Is there a way that I can access the child Flash file directly with Javascript?
Or do I need to send the variable to the parent Flash file, and then have the parent send the variable to the child Flash file? Is there a sort of dot notation that I can use with Javascript to get to the child Flash file without first accessing the parent, when the child is added to the parent using the loadClip function in flash?

I don't know if stackoverflow is the correct place for this question. If not, feel free to move it in the correct site.[URL]. my client wants to convert them to something so the text will be in the html code.
I thought to use two gif files. When the user hover the specific div then the second gif replace the first and gives the effect. The text will be positioned with css. I am not sure if this a proper way to do it, or there is a better way.

I have searched everything and tried every method I can get my hands on and cannot get my CSS drop-down menus to display above my Flash file.
You can go to: [URL] and username is 'riverlife' and password is 'flow' (without the quotes on both).
I am using swfObject and have the <param name="flashvars" value="wmode=opaque"/> set. The div around the drop down is absolute position with z-index of 9999 and the div around the flash file is relative position with z-index of -1
