This is the best way I can describe it as I don't want scrolling text in the normal way, I want it to be on one line moving right to left with very few characters. Oct 11, 2006I have a pendulum that swings infinitely. I'd like to set the maximum angle to a random amount to give it a sort of "blown by a random wind" effect. I'm not great at code, so I can't figure out how to randomize "maxAngle" without making the animation jerky. Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this? Here is my code and FLA...

Jun 16, 2003I really like the text effect Pom used in the footer contest, and would like to use the same grid-type method of creating mc letters but with a different effect. i understand how to change the parameters and shapes of the letters, but can't seem to figure out which piece of code is purely for the explosion effect. basically, i want the letters but with the 'Repel' effect from[URL] here is Pom's AS:

Sep 20, 2004I'm working on my site and I have a random background script setup. Heres the code that Im using now.[code]...
Now I love the way thats its working and but one thing that is kinda crappy is that sometimes it suffers from repeating the same background a couple of times before going to another random background. Now I know that its because the script is working properly but can anyone think of a method that I could use to make it not be able to pull up the last background that it has already loaded? I dont want to make it static because not only do I have this setup for when you enter the site but also its random when you click on one of the nav buttons because I want to try to keep my site dynamic.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Random Script That Will Make Movie Clips Play In "random" Order
May 5, 2009I have 5 boxes on the stage as movie clips, each one with the same animation waiting to be targeted. What I need is a random script that will make them play in "random" order. This should occur after a few seconds of inactivity where they each play, but once there's mouse movement, whichever ones did animate should "reset" or play back to their original positions, (assuming there's more boxes and there's movement before all of them play). I have some code in there for arrays and some random script that isn't working right now. I just need the random setup, really. I may be able to figure out the time delay, (maybe), and then be able to tweak the rest of it for how I need. Right now, I've just simplified everything in a 5 box example hoping someone might be able to work with what I have.

Jun 20, 2010I'm creating a mask effect. i create 10 movieclip with a library class reference that appear on the screen with a random alpha effect. THe problem is that if i try the effect alone all works ok. if i mask the layer that contains the effect on an image i don't see the effect. i see directly the image masked with the boxes. i can't explain that because i've the effect first but it seems that when i test the movie the effect doesn't play and the boxes appear directly on the screen.

Jan 20, 2009I have been making a memory game, where words are shown to the user. Once they have memorised the words they go to the next screen where the words that they have memorised are shown. They then have to drag each word into a "correct" place and a "wrong" place. I now want to edit it so that I can use two arrays one for correct words and one for wrong words. I want to generate random words from each of these arrays. I have sort of worked out how this is possible to do but using dynamic text, but am I correct in thinking that the whole dragging the words thing is not possible with dynamic text. (I may be wrong though, I am quite new to flash).

The trick is that I want it to randomly load a different chunk of text in each time the user opens the site. There are about 25 different small pieces of text I want to randomly load.
I'm thinking of using XML to store the 25 different text sentences, but am open to other ideas.
