ActionScript 2.0 :: Set The Maximum Angle To A Random Amount To Give Pendulum A Sort Of "blown By A Random Wind" Effect
Oct 11, 2006
I have a pendulum that swings infinitely. I'd like to set the maximum angle to a random amount to give it a sort of "blown by a random wind" effect. I'm not great at code, so I can't figure out how to randomize "maxAngle" without making the animation jerky. Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this? Here is my code and FLA...
At the bottom I have some leaves there. I want to make a couple different size leaves like that and make them go from left to right at random paths and have it loop. I don't know much about actionscript but is there a way to do this without having to make a bunch of guide paths and doing lots of tweens and rotations?
I want a random angle ranging from - let's say - 10 to 80 (degrees). I got some code but there seems to be a bug inside of it. It calculates a random number (working) between 10 and 80. But when I paste it into the other variable (astAngle1) it's generating a random value not higher than 56(???).
I need algorithm ideas for generating points in 2D space with defined minimum and maximum possible distances between points.
Bassicaly, i want to find a good way to insert a point in a 2D space filled with points, in such manner that the point has random location, but is also more than MINIMUM_DISTANCE_NUM and less than MAXIMUM_DISTANCE_NUM away from nearest points.

i'm "experimenting" a bit with code at the moment and now i have written a class that creates a circle that bounces at the bottom of the stage. Wich has a random size and a random starting point. But now i wan't to expand the code so that i can have a random amount of balls bouncing down, so instead of only one there are f.e. 3 balls. Also i have noticed that the stage.stageHeight does not get updated when i resize my screen when i run iton how to make that happen ?
Im using several swf files on one page and instead of displaying a random swf on refresh or the next visit I want to display a swf for a certain number of days also I want to be able to choose what swfs will show up more depending on some sort of priority setting. Has anyone pulled this off or has any code to show?
I have to design a game for a school project that I have to redo to pass my year, but so far I have encountered several problems. My game is for children from 6 to 8 years old, so the game has to have a lot of sound (voice recordings) to explain the menus and the stuff they have to do.
Flash Tranformation Matrix via JsFL. I have to write a JsFL script that creates a text on my Flash scene, and rotate it with a random angle. Imagine I want to create and rotate a "Hello World!" at 45 degrees, my code looks like that:
rotateAngle = 45; //creates my new text at x:0, y:0 coordinates fl.getDocumentDOM().addNewText({left:0, top:0, right:10, bottom:10}); fl.getDocumentDOM().setTextString('Hello World!'); var mat = fl.getDocumentDOM().selection[0].matrix; [Code] .....
The problem is : the rotation applied to my text is 58.3 instead of 45. I have to admit that I'm kind of noob with matrix... so I used the "matrix transformation for rotation" here : [URL].
So, I'm just starting a bigger AS3 project. I'm still learning AS3, transitioning from AS2 and I keep getting caught up on dumb stuff. I'm creating two variables to store a maximum and minimum value for a random number generator. Here's my code.
Create a 12x9 grid;Populate the cells with random numbers ranging from 1-9;Assign a symbol (custom graphic) to each cell depending upon which random number is generated in it;Limit the amount of times each number in the random range is used to 12.My question is simply this: how do I, using AS3, create a random number function that will only use each number in its range a maximum of 12 times (it is important to note that my grid consists of 108 cells using the numbers 1-9 exactly 12 times each)? So for example, if the random number function populates 12 cells with the number "4," it will then exclude that number from its remaining iterations.I am adhering to OOP standards so including script in actual timeline frames is not desirable.
I have a movieclip being used as a button. After a random amount of clicks the button stops working. In other words, the mouse will become a hand when hovering over the button but no clicks are registering to fire the function. I've even clicked it 40 times and it will work but then suddenly, bang!, it stops working. Heres the function that adds the btn, listener, animates it into the screen and also adds text.[code]...
I have 100 names. I want to have it animated like the genname.fla I attached. And it should show these names when I mouseover it, in completely random order.Like the namebanner.fla I attached.I don't want the flash swf to get too large in filesize or the animation playing choppy.
How do I implement all these names (with animation) with coding in AS2 instead of timeline and labels?Without using external files xml, swf, txt.My solution I chosen is to have Labels (label1, label2..) in my timeline and I have now 30 labels, 30 movieclips+30MC:s in every with the name animation. It is so hard work to copy label, motion, convert new movieclip and do this for 100 names. Maybe I need 200 names.. This is impossible to sort out.
Every name must have the same:
- animation: movement, speed, blurfilter
- font
I need to be able to change:
- the name (firstname, lastname)
- animation (blurfilter, where it should start animate and stop, how fast..)
And I need to be able to change the font so It changes in every name so I don't need to go into every movieclip and change.
I have following code:
Code:
//random function fncShuffle() { return Math.floor(Math.random()*5)-1; } //function for every label on the timeline
I made a semi-sinewave effect (view attachment) and it works fine with one exception. I want for it to wave on random intervals (from 1-15 seconds) instead of continuously, but I can't get it working right. Here's the code:
I've been doing some rapid prototyping for a game I'm thinking of building. one of the main things i want to do is map generation for a tile type map. While generating the map i end up using large amounts of ram. I'm building the map as an array of random integers for my test. When i try to generate maps of a large scale flash gives me the out of memory error:
Error: Error #1000: The system is out of memory.
I've already figured i could write to a file instead, to solve that problem. but does anybody know the actual maximum size? I've tried searching around to no avail.Activity monitor reports that ADL is using around 500MB "real memory" and around 700MB "virtual memory". The System.privateMemory property seems to match the "real memory" value.as a side note i'm developing in OSX Snow Leopard (64) with 8gb ram
EDIT:
Here the example test i am running
var ba:ByteArray = new ByteArray(); for(var i:uint = 0; i<100000000; i++) { ba.writeInt(int(Math.random()*100));
[code]....
When i run this script from a browser, stand-alone debugger or AIR i get roughly the same memory usage readouts (which i know vary anyway). What is constant however is the final length of the byte array:
i want to random load some movieclips i made with a tween effect.i made this code but it's not working good, i get some errors, maybe u fixing this code or come with another
im not exactly sure where to start right now im using a script for dhtml to rotate imaged randomly what i hope to accomplish is background , that will have some type of transition effect and randomly show my images
i have 32 images atm i would like to rotate through i found this and have tried to use it , but not exactly what i want , i need a transitional effect of somekind, and want it to rotate at a given amount of time , say maybe 12seconds[URL]...
I want a movieclip consisting of a dynamic text box that, from the time it's loaded onto the stage, loads a randomly selected text string from an array, and continues to loop until the clip is removed from the stage. I also want the text strings to appear in the text box for random intervals between 500 and 3000 milliseconds.
While I've found tutorials here and elsewhere on loading one element from an array, usually triggered by a button, I don't know how to combine/alter it with the other elements. So I want this movieclip on the stage randomly flashing phrases from an array, some for a barely perceptible time, and others for a readable time.
