I want to implement having a movie clip randomly change color.How can I make my movie clip randomly switch colors with a push of a button??By the way I'm using flash MX and I am still intermediate when it comes to coding.
View 3 RepliesI have this movie clip that's a solid color with 60% transparency. I have 24 copies of this, all with instance names of light_mc1, light_mc2 and so on. What I'm trying to do is have them transition their colors not only randomly and constantly, but in unison. The transition has to be smooth, it can't just instantly show red in one frame, then green in the next. I have to be able to see it smoothly change to green, or whichever color is randomly selected.
View 7 Repliesi do flash at university and im pretty good with it. all im trying to do is push a movie clip when a button is pressed. pretty basic right? but it just doesnt appear the round in the movie clip plays just tha actual movie clip doesnt appear, its not hiding bejind the scene cos i have moved the whole scene and it still doesnt appear where it should. here is the code

For example, I want the square to change from red, white, and blue, but randomly.
I know about Mcs and instance names and all that. I just need to know how to write the code. I know it starts with:

I would like to know if there is a way to make a flash movie that sends information straight to my email with the push of a button. Is it possible? Can it be done without knowledge of the person? I want to have a poll, and calculate the votes by hand, or eye, I suppose. I just don't want to have to set up a server of any kind.

It's not working. If I add the box to the stage, it'll work fine. But it won't go into the blank movie clip. No errors, just doesn't run.

The movie includes rectangles that simply move downwards with random speed, height, and width.My question is how I could change the color or alpha of the overlapping areas as seen in the quick sample I made and attached. I have gotten some success from making the MC's with an alpha and when they overlap there is a more solid color but it isn't quite the effect I was looking for.

I want both objects to be buttons to link to a website and to emailI'm not sure how to go about doing this, it seems once an object converted to a movie symbol it cannot be a button at the same time. View 3 RepliesI have a very simple fla i built, all i need is the hover "over" stage to play this tween. On the keyframe I made it a symbol, movie clip. In there all the tweens are set exactly. View 4 RepliesI was asked to put all my actionscript in only at the main timeline, while I have lots of movie clips that acts as each page in my website. Each of them has buttons that I need to make them work without put the actionscript inside the movie clip but the main timeline.
I tried to use movieclip(parent).menu_btn.function(); which is not working
and now I'm trying to use array as a friend suggested me.

the problem is when i clicked play button and it links to the play page,but it has an intro animation for 2-3 seconds before they reach the menu_btn that's why the error come out is that I have a null object since they execute the code b4 it comes to the menu_btn keyframe.
I have a button that when clicked starts a movie clip(a box enlarges from very tiny to large).That works fine. How do I make the same button reverse the movie clip when clicked again?

i have named the symbol blog and have name the frame of where the blog page is going to be "blogframe" this line of code at the bottom is where i run into trouble the output window in Flash is saying "The blog button was clicked" just like i want it to. no errors are accouring why than is the playhead not going to frame "blogframe"? if the button is working when i click it the code is right i belive the problem here is it does not want the playhead to go to the frame i want it to. So i gues my question is, how can i make a button withing a movie clip interact with the main timeline?
if I attach two movie clips MC1 and MC2 on the stage.MC1 has a simple button also. MC2 is transparent.First I attach the MC1 and then I attach MC2. Both on the stage. So obviously, MC2 is added over the MC1. In this situation, I cannot click the button which is place in the MC1.If Im not wrong, in AS2, if the MC2 is transparent, the button in the MC1 can still respond to the mouse events.

I am trying to have a random movie clip play as soon as my site loads, and when that one is done, I would like it to randomly choose another.I have 6 movie clips, I figure I will have to have the random script on frame 1 of my time line, and then I can just modify it to select another one on the last frame of each movie clip. View 9 RepliesI'm using CS3 with ActionScript 3. I'm a designer by training and have been tossed into coding by happenstance. My perfect scenario: User sees an easily navigable list of colors, each with swatch (like a small square) and name (text). (I basically want something like the InDesign color swatch list, in dropdown or list form.) She selects a color. Appropriate movie clip is filled with said color. First of all I'm not even sure what component to use. I had a ComboBox that was working great except for only showing color names, not swatches. I could use a custom data provider with the ColorPicker, but the user needs to see our assigned color names.
Is a TileList my best bet? If so, how do I set up a TileList with color swatches and names to then change the color of a movie clip when the user selects a color? I can make it work (except for swatches showing) with my data provider set up with color name in the label spot and hex value in the data spot, with simple code of this sort:
