View 1 RepliesI am making a spin wheel and the hitTestObject doesn't seems to be displaying correctly Basically, there is an arrow (the finger that locate where the wheel stopped) and the wheel itself. The wheel is divided into different segments, and each of these segments can be control by the code. Here's the problem though, my arrow is at the top of the wheel and it only touches 1 of the segment, but whenever I use the hitTestObject method with the arrow and the segments, it somehow detect several segments instead of one. These segments are not overlapping one another so I don't understand why it is detecting several hits instead of one.

However, what I want to be able to do is, click and drag to spin the wheel, complete with acceleration and deceleration and even settling on the nearest image when the wheel reduces to a certain speed. I have no idea how to go about doing this: I'll need to kinda detect a before and after position of the cursor and translate this into a speed for the wheel which then decelerates over time and also detect which image is closest at a certain speed and "snap" it, both scrolling up and down. (it'll only affect the Y-axis)
Does anyone know the code for finding the global positioning of X & Y co-ordinates of a click of a button which is constantly rotating, and then secondly the code for when you click on the button it displays a movie clip on top of it -(position of x & y when clicked) at the angle that you clicked it (so underneath the buttons are still rotating so other people can click them where they are)to explain the context, I'm trying to design a mock up of a circular interactive table when someone comes up to it and clicks on one of the buttons that are moving, it reads where the person clicked it and opens up a new box (movie clip) where they clicked it (at the angle) so its not upside down if you are at the topI've included my .fla file which shows the four buttons moving and a little diagramexplaining what I'm trying to do.
View 5 RepliesI was browsing through the AS3 help in CS3 and came across good ole Delta. I've been playing around with it and it zooms things just fine but I had an idea for a birthday card for my niece and now would like a way to have the mouse wheel do something perhaps outside of what Delta will permit. I want to move a nested movie clip to next and previous frames with the mouse wheel and until using it with delta for zooming only used it for scrolling. I got it to work but not how I'd like. Using this code I got it to go to next frame which is 1/3rd the battle:

I have a map application that when I use the mouse wheel the map will scale up or scale down. The next thing I want to do is to focus on the mouse pointer while zooming on the part of the map.

I'm making a room escape game and I've run into a problem. When an item gets added to the inventory, I'd like the user to be able to click on the item to affect another object (e.g. clicking screwdriver hides screws and displays other image) however when I add the code to the item, if the item is clicked and it's nowhere near the object it affects, the image pops up and it looks really stupid.
So what I'd like to be able to do, possibly using if and else statements or whatever's easiest, is to only have the inventory item be clickable if the movie clip of the object is affects is visible on the stage.

CS3 used to have this nice autorotate function where you could make a MovieClip spin - great for vehicle wheels and the like. Has this been deprecated in CS4? Can't seem to find it...

I have a replay button that is already working great, but I want the arrow part of the button to spin in the 'Over' state. What I tried was creating a looped frame. I went inside the button itself, (button composed of an arrow symbol and text). I then went to the 'Over' state and went to edit the arrow symbol itself.when I drag the playheader in there, it seems to loop just fine, but when I export it it's not working.

Unfortunately the school system doesnt try to recover stuff, they just wipe it.What I want is basically a gaming wheel (like at a carnival, the kind you spin).I want to be able to have a .jpg or something that I can modify (if I change the lesson later, or for different outcomes, just replace the .jpg with a same sized wheel).I just want to hit a button, make it spin, slow down, and stop. Maybe a second graphic of just a pointer at the top that overlaps it so you know where it lands. It doesn't even have to stop exactly on one 'category' or 'slot'. It just needs to slow down and stop randomly.

I have recently followed a tutorial to make a movieclip in flash that makes buttons spin around a point depending on the mouse position. I have made my own version off this and would like to use it in a full flash website that i am making at the moment.
The only problem that i am having is with aligning this clip and as it is made up of script i cant physicly drag it to were i want it. I understand how to alighn this with x/y positioning but when i preview the flash in a web browser it is positioned correctly but then when i 'full screen' the browser this clip jumps about 4 inches down the page.
I have a site with a container clip which all other content loads into. When one movie loads, it has a button that I'd like to be able to click to go to another page in the site (ie. unload it's parent movie and load another swf into the same container clip.
How can I address the parent container clip and tell it to unload this movie and load another swf into it?

Im working on a small project and it involves a guy which you move with the arrow keys. The arrow keys add to his x, y velocities and his position is updated accordingly. How can i get this man to grab onto an object and spin around it (like when you grab pole and letting your momentum swing you around) . I can make him grab the object but I dont know how to modify his x,y speeds to simulate the arc.
View 4 RepliesI'm working on a project with a 2D, flat, globe, that rotates either left or right. Essentially, it's a circle. All around this circle are going to be buildings, evenly spaced. If you're having trouble visualizing that, see this illustration.[url].. The children in this illustration would be the buildings I'm referring to. Now, the top most building will be the biggest, and the others will gradually get smaller. How can I get this working so that buildings ease in and ease out in size as the planet rotates?

as in bring themselves on top. I want a movie clip to always stay blocking them, without adding it to the stage every frame, which is unnecessary memory usage.
Animation of the head that comes up with the crank on it is 15 frames long. The head stops at frame 15, and it begins to crank at frame 16. Do I make a keyframe at frame 16 of that still crank at its begininng position, double click it to get its own timeline, then import the other 7 images of the crank animation into this seperate timeline, animate its cycle, then go back to the main time line at frame 16 and it should play the cycle when the main timeline hits frame 16? What if I want the cycle to only crank once around and not loop? Then, what happens to this movie clip when frame 17, 18 20, 30 is playing? It takes say 2 seconds to play the crank animation so while the play head is going along after frame 16, and the crank is moving what is in its place on the main timeline after frame 16? Should I just put frames in for the length of the rest of the animation (brain and words coming out of the head)?

What do I do to make this rotate the line_mc move clip in a counterclockwise rotation when I scroll the mouse wheel up instead of down. Currently it rotates the movie clip in a clockwise fashion regardless of which way I scrool the mouse wheel.

ps. is there anyway to get this thing to ease when it rotates... instead of the jerky rotation it does now.
