I need to scroll a text (only in the center of the page, the top and bottom don't move) with 2 arrows(up and down), but in this text, some words are buttons leading to other keyframes. and this text is in different colors and is formatted.

when I leave a window with flash content, in this case, a scrolling movie clip with buttons inside set to hyperlink popups (only 1 hyperlink is set so far): [URL] the flash content will disappear. So if I go back to the window, I have to reload the page to get the flash to appear again. Same thing happens if I minimize the window, when I bring it back up, no flash, and I have to reload the page. The menubar with the boxes at the top is flash as well (different swf) and that doesn't have this problem.
I'm having trouble trying to link a .swf using xml to open up an html link that is on the cd that a user will have in their drive when running the swf.home.swf > goes to CD drive> open up about.html

I'm working on a site and I have 2 movieClips/buttons that I would like to use as use as next frame/ previous frame triggers respectively. Is there a way to set the buttons up once and then access the functionality from the various levels of the site? Note that the prev/next buttons will not always be on the stage.
I have this little problem where my scroll pane (cmpThumbs), which is inside another movieClip (nav) isn't scrolling. The arrow buttons on the scroll bar work, and even the grey area. When you click on it, the scroller will jump to that place. The only problem is, is that the scroller won't drag anymore.

I'm creating a full flash site and on one of the pages of the site I have a customized scrollbar with clickable content inside the scrollable section. The content inside the scrolling area is a movie clip. Well, when I add script to the button inside the scrolling area movie clip, it's doing something weird... The script I'm adding is:
my problem is that I have made a scrolling text. Now I want one word inside the scrolling text to be a link to another page.
I tried this with an invisible button on a second layer above the word, but the button does not stay on its place on different screens. Is there a solution. Looks to me as a basic thing every web designer ought to know.

These on screen buttons allow the user to move the map every time they click however it would be more user friendly if these buttons continued to move the map on a hold down state until released or via rolling on/off.
I have several layers of scrolling BGs via action script. In between these layers are a set of simple buttons made via "button" symbols. Within the stage, the buttons are recognized, however, when I test the movie, the buttons are not recognized/activated by the cursor. My guess is that the scrolling BGs that are on top of everything else (NOT added via "addChild" in a blank movie clip below all other layers) are somehow "blocking" my cursor from reading the simple buttons "below" them.
For the visual aspect of the project, the scrolling BGs are needed both "below" and "above" the buttons, so I need a work-around for simple button use in this multi-level scrolling BG environment. (just to clarify, by "above" and "below" I dont mean vertically above and below, but rather "layered" above and below, so as to "cover" eachother).
Anyhow, I have a few buttons (six of them) to scroll from left to right non-stop via looping. Those buttons are in the up state. What I want to achieve is that when someone hovers over one of the buttons, the entire scrolling temporarily stops and perhaps the hovered button becomes larger as well. I'm sure you've seen something similar on ebay listings before shown as slideshows.
my Over buttons are managed via movie clips, but not the Up state buttons.
Has anyone got an example of scrolling images as buttons. I been trying to use scrolling images as buttons to access pages on the main timeline but haven't got it to work one bit, plus a lot of the tuts I find aren't for AS3.
So below is my code for a project I'm working on. I'm having some trouble though. I got the code for the scrolling menus online from another forum, but I can't figure out where that was. In any case, the current version of the code allows for the scrolling to happen when I open the page displays (enter Frame). But I can't figure out how to get the scrolling to happen only when I hover over the menu. I only want each one to scroll when I hover over the menu, not when I get on the page. I tried to replace the "enterFrame" part of the code, but it didn't work right. I need this done ASAP.
I have a HBox and I dynamically add Buttons into it. I want to distribute such buttons horizontally, however I would like to place there on more rows if there is not anymore horizontal space, instead of seeing the scrolling bar.How can I do that ?

I am creating a vertical scrolling gallery with two buttons but I would like to make it looping, so when you get to the last photo and you press the "forward" button it jumps to the first image. I have gotten this done, but it's now stopped to the last image and you have to scroll back to get to the first image..[code]
The answer to my question is possibly easy, yet I haven't found an example of solving it in the web, nor have I found a solution reading ActionScript reference. My problem is the following: I have a big UIComponent derivate element inside a Scroller (spark.components.Scroller) window. The Scroller class is great because when my canvas element, that changes size dynamically, exceeds its boundaries, scrollbars appear automatically and handle scrolling of my UIComponent inside it. However, I'd like not just to be able to Scroll using these automatically appeared scroll bars, but also by using a pan tool that I will myself implement (similar to the hand tool in Adobe software, for example). The thing is that I am not able to modify correctly the element's position inside the Scroller window.

I have a for loop that pulls data from my database, populates a topMovie(contentMain) with 20 subMovies inside it. My scrollbar is attached to topMovie. Once the data is loaded and the topMovie is populated, the scrollFace(not ScrollTrack) dissapears and the dynamic movie is not scrollable.As a test, I populated the topMovie with graphic boxes and no dynamic movies and it scrolls just fine.

I just got the trial of Flash Cs5 and haven't used Flash since MX back in 04-06. Having an issue with buttons now in context of a scrolling text area. My code is set up as such:

Where up is the button to scroll upwards and down is...(you guessed it). Maintext is the movieclip in which my text is which each frame being the text "scrolled" further. My issue IS: This was working just fine UNTIL I added "Over", "Down", and "Hit" frames into my buttons (whereas previously they were just single frame arrows), and then when previewing my flash the cursor doesn't even recognize the buttons as such, and nothing happens if you click on either... If I got back and delete the over, down, and hit frames, BOOM, problem goes away. This seems very strange to me, I never had a problem like this in MX.

Intro:I started a flash-based website a few years ago. Back in 2006 I was able to get a xml scrolling thumbnail, image loader to work without a glitch.For numerous reasons I had to put the project on hold until now. [one was that my 30 day trial of flash expired and only recently was I able to purchase the Adobe Web Suite CS4 as well as a new computer which could run the apps.]
Last Friday saw a bump in the road in the development of my site as two, rather straightforward task, turned into something short of a nightmare as I have been unable to get past these two, seemingly, relatively simple task.I have posted in 4 other flash forums the issues, in detail, that I am facing - and have quite a bit of interest/views in the topic as the numbers suggest - yet no response/answer as of yet. [Which confirms other messages I have seen which seem to state that working with buttons has become increasingly difficult with the newer version of flash - something Im a bit surprised with actually from Adobe. - I would have thought there would be a palette where you could set parameters...]

BUT...1a: I need for the buttons to load in this action, not for it to just load on its own.[i.e., the silk_paintings gallery is what is open, so I need the "silk_paintings" button to call up this action]
note: Initially I had attacked this problem by taking out the actions layer you see above and applying it directly to the individual buttons with some crude MouseEvent Listener/Handerls... that did not work - at all.Im sure it may be "easier" to make an array out of it, but with my coding level it may be "easier" to apply it to the buttons.
1b: How I currently see it, I would take the xml-list and duplicate it for the number of galleries I have.[I would then re-name the xml-list to reflect the name of the galleries they are to represent, i.e. "silk_paintings"][also, I would have to rename the folders to "thumbnails1,2,3, etc., & "images 1,2,3, etc"
From there I would duplicate the actions and paste it into the buttons, changing the xml-list name to that of "silk_paintings", etc., as well as write in the MouseEvent listener Handler to make it work. [ah, ha, but what is that magic phrase, I have tried to implement various code from other tutorials, and all in vein.]
At this point I would be tickled pink just to get this to basic function to work.However, once the buttons are working and calling up the xml, etc., then I need the buttons to stay on the semi-transparent blue color it is whenever in the 'hit' state. [note: NOT pictured above.]With the way the buttons are currently set up, and with wanting to use scripting to get them to interact with the thumbnail gallery, it will have to be some miraculous code to tell that button what color to stay as whenever its clicked, and of course it going back to white when another button is clicked.
Conclusion:Since this is an Adobe Forum I would like to make a few additional statements in hopes that the developers, etc. may take heed.Adobes products are not cheap, and when I went to purchase the websuite I went in as a designer needing a program as not to need to program.I understand the flexibility that coding gives, but something as simple as linking buttons should not be in the realms of rocket science.
