ActionScript 2.0 :: Random Moving Clip That Also Function As Mask

I'm looking for a function for a random moving clip (devined x position) with lets say 5 secons interval, that is also functioning as a mask. But the clips that need to be masked should change in opacity in stead of vissible or not vissible.

Ok, i am creating a snakes and ladders game and have so far produced the board, the counter and the dice.Once the dice is rolled it returns a value called 'rollValue'The counter is a movie clip with the instance name 'counter' and is set up on the timeline with position 1 on the timeline being the first place on the board, position 2 on the timeline being the second place, 3 on the timeline being 3rd position on board etc etc.What i need to do is move the counter to the position on the timeline (hence moving it on the board) that is returned by the dice value.I was thinking something like this:

counter.gotoAndStop(rollValue);
or maybe this on the actual counter which would move it the amount of places determined by rollValue:

what i have is a tween on a movie clip of a popcorn kernel on one layer and a tween on a button on another layer to follow the movie clip. i want to be able to roll over the kernel and make it "pop". i changed my over on the button to popped corn (this works) but i want it to stay popped for the rest of the tween.

I have created an X*Y grid of rectangles that cover up a movieclip (R). I put these into a 2d array (for easy access) and in a container movieclip which I use as mask over R. Now when I move one of the small rectangles R.width to the right when I am still in the constructor, a small bit of R will become invisible. But when I do this inside the function which handles mouse events, nothing seems to happen.

AS3 Movie clip does not have .setMask() method, but it has .mask property. What is the syntax to set a mask on movie clip A (mcA) using movie clip B (mcB) mith .mask parameter in AS3?

mcA.setMask(mcB);  // does not work in AS3 (no setMask() method any more)
mcA.mask = mcB;  //does not do the job either

I'm wanting to render this character as a flash animation (which i will create with swift 3d), could I make the walls of this corridor mask him so that only his head would only be seen as he walked through it, as below?I would later render the animation of walls as normal like so ..lkThrough.html (so that i would have a vector character walking through a bitmap corridor, you may ask why i want to do that, and that's because later on the character will be mainly animating on a still background and i'm trying to conserve download time for the Flash file).

I have a logo I created for my webpage with FreeHand. I have finally learned how to do a lighting mask to have the effect of the moving gleam across my logo, but whenever I try to create the effect (using different methods even) it isnt' working correctly. Only part of my logo is being affected by the mask. I have tried all the things that I can think of to make this work. So far the only thing that has worked is changing the vector logo into a jpeg and plugging it into flash, but I really don't want to do that due to resolution and cleaness of the image. I am including links to the 2 files - the original logo as well as the masking .fla file that I have been trying to make work.

It's a flash banner with a simple image, and then I want an xml of quotes that get pulled into the banner a mask scrolls in and then when it scrolls out, the words have changed to another random quote?When I mean scroll I mean the quote remains in place but a mask appears (from right to left) that covers the words, once the 'mask has got to the left side of the quote all the letters are gone - the mask the reverses (right to left) to reveal a new quote."Random Quotes from XML mask swap in Flash" isn't getting the right results!

I am doing a multiple mask where an image is being masked by multiple little squares that drop down.I created 2 layers, mask and masked for each square and image.That part works fine, however, I wanted to load a different image everytime when the page loads, I used the example on this site:

Now, every little square load a random image instead of all loading the same image. Is it possible to ask all other masked layer to call on that one random image? What should I do?

I wasn't quite sure how to describe my problem in the subject. I have a plane MC and a crate MC. The plane only flies along the y axis from the bottom of the screen to top. Flash Based Tetris - Importing Random Objects And Moving Blocks

One of my main interests is playing games so I thought why not make a game? I see lots on the Internet games based in Flash so I thought that would be my best starting point to make actual graphic based games... (not to mention I actually got taught at university how to use flash to a certain extent). The game I decided upon was tetris. I'm sure you're all familiar with the block based puzzle game and might be able to shed some light upon what I am doing right and what I am doing wrong. So, I've firstly made my game screen with a window for all the blocks to come down in.

I've also put some dynamic text place holders ready for when I come to keeping track of how many 'lines' the player has scored, the time and so on in the right hand side of the screen. I have made graphics for the different colour 'building blocks' (just one block of 24x24 in different colours for each shape) and then used the 'building blocks' multiple times to create my shapes (I, J, L, O, S, T, Z). These blocks are called tetrominoes. Now I've come to a point where I need to import these tetrominoes randomly from the library and get them to appear in the middle just off the top of my block screen.

How do I import random objects from a particular folder in my library to the stage in Flash CS5 AS3? After realising a quick solution to my problem was not to be found quickly I then thought about what will happen to this block once it has been imported... Well, in Tetris the block moves slowly down until it hits another block or the bottom of the block screen. I know that I can do something with a detectHit() function. How do I get my block to move down the screen by a set amount of pixels every second or so?

i have a 2 recangle movie clip with w:500 h:400 named (p1 , bs) ,and a i wanted to Mask those 2 movie clip with action sctrip, with a w:1000 h:1300 Recangle, named(Mask)i can do it if using the layer Masking, but i wanted to use action stricp to mask.

When I do that, the labels disappear. I need this mask, but I also need the labels - can't have buttons without labels, now, right?Here's the code I am using:

I have Flash CS4 and I'm developing an RPG game. My goal is to dynamically change the weapon/armor the main hero has on according to what the player has on. I think the term is paper dolling. Basically I want to be able to set a point in which a graphic (movie clip/w.e) can be place permanently and I can load images to it via actionscript 3. I want the point to stay on the hero becuase I plan to move him and animate him and I want to be able to have it so that all it takes is me loading an image to the hero so it will basically "mask" over him. Hope you guys understand what I'm saying, I'm having a hard time figuring this out.
