ActionScript 2.0 :: Read In A HTML File And Format With A CSS File?
Jul 17, 2005
I want to read in a HTML file and format with a CSS file.I'm using MX2004.From what I've read, this should be possible?I'm getting stuck at the first obstacle, I can't figure out how to read in the HTML file.THe use of the CSS styling seems to be straight forward.
A friend of mine has a Flash Action script running on a LAMP server that currently reads an xml config file. He's asked me if it's possible to remove the xml file, and replace it somehow with a system (lets call it an 'auto xml generator') that intercepts the request to read that file and generates an output, so it appears to all intents and purposes as if the file still exists and contains the contents that has actually been returned from our auto xml generator'
I have a text file containing html formatted text which I try to get into a textfield. All works fine locally and even on my localhost test server, but when uploading to the real server - I get a blank.
I think this is almost impossible, or at least very difficult. The thing is: I wanted to make a guestbook on my site (inside flash) but my server doesn't allow me to use php. So the only other way (I think) is to use a remote script-host. So that's what I did, I found one on scripthost.com. It's a very simple one,it just changes a html-file everytime a new entry is entered. What I want to do now is to extract all the things that are in the html-file and put them in textboxes. Is this possible? I searched a little bit and I found that I could use the server side include tags to read a html-file to another html-file (inside a div) and then use javascript to read the div and send it to a textbox in flash.
s it possible to read a child of an XML file and format it as HTML in flash?I'm asking this because I want to include a description text as a child of a node and I need to know if there is a way to insert a line brake in the text...
how to be able to create another node which would be a text box just like the caption text seen in the tutorial but could be used to display a url.I tried adding it in but having problems getting it to read the html code that gets loaded from the xml file.heres what the actionscript looks like:
Code: Key.removeListener(listen); function loadXML(loaded) {[code]...
I asked this earlier but maybe I didn't give enough information. I am working on a website where video quality is very important and the client is delivering me the video already compressed. I then want to import it to flash CS3 and export it as .flv for progressive download with the media playback component. I have done all of this successfully in a sense that it all works but the video quality is not good enough, it's good but the client says it;s a bit grainy. I used the highest setting in Flash, on2 vp6 at 700kbs.
My question is what is the best file format (.mov etc) and what settings should the client use, so I can create the highest quality .flv export from their .mov file? Second question, I used an 8 second buffer but now the client is saying they don't want it to buffer at all. What are the other options besides progressive download, I have never delved into this before?
I have been working on a project for a week and suddenly it crashed during save (nothing strange had been imported or anything i just saved after moving content around) and now i cant open my file again. I contacted adobe support who claim that since the problem is related to the file this is not their problem, what a load of HORSE ****, who should i contact about this dell if its an FLA FILE!? I have already renamed the file to flash.zip then opened with WinRar and repaired as a new zip file to a different folder (which removes the corrupt content which is document something.xml) then i tried renaming this folder back to flash.fla however the file still does not open.
I was reading about Flex- JavaScript communication via ExternalInterface. But I had a doubt, it said that the javascript code should be written in the HTML file of the application ? Now which is this HTML file ? Is it the index.template.html file per project or the HTML file created per MXML application ?
I recently had Flash CS4, I made an AS2 .swf, published to .fla. Now, I have Flash 8. I am attempting to open the CS4 .fla, and it says, "Unexpected file format!"
I am trying to customize a video player skin from f4player [URL] [the file is mySkin.fla]). I am using flash cs3 pro and I get the error "Unexpected file format" when trying to open the file, a friend has flash cs4 and has the same error. Is there something I could do to open this .fla file correctly? Or maybe if someone could try opening it and saving it again for cs3?
I have a main swf file and config.xml located in the same directory. My .swf file uses config.xml to fetch config variable which it does with success. The problem appears when I put those files into Flex directory. I embed .swf file like this.
I mean, I use dynamically changing xml-data in my app that I could get straight from the server but it is gzipped. So I was wondering is there a way to unzip it and read it as a xml file with actionscript?
trying to change a gallery that reads xml file to one that reads txt files and that also has a preloader and centrally resizes automatically. since i got no replies i tried and finally after a few months managed to get it to read txt files. unfortunately, i have realised that i require the gallery to read data from a php file and not a txt file because i dont have the permissions to create a txt file and edit it on the server.
I am having a nightmare using CSS to style HTML within a dynamic textfield in my flash doc. From what i now understand after much trial and error and reading online, CSS doesn't even work properly in flash even for the tags that it does understand (which are few and far between anyway). For some reason my layout is getting completely screwed up in certain scenarios (predominantly when there are images present too) when i hover over links (which are styled in an external CSS file). If i remove the external CSS styling (which only contains the following simple code):
Then everything works fine (but no links are underlined as standard or on hover). Does anyone know of any way to style the links without using an external CSS file (all i want to do is have no underline as standard and then underline them on hover). As this is from user input into a text editor I cannot place these links manually on the page in flash as they could be anywhere, I need a way of parsing the HTML and then displaying it accordingly.
Lately, I've been getting an "Unexpected file format" error when tring to open a CS3 fla file that I've been working with for a couple of years. I've edited the file with the exact same app before.
I have a application developed in flex deployed on server. In the application data is filled by user and saved in cookies so as to be available even when the user closes the application. However if new version of application is released the user can still access the older version saved in the cahe. How can it be assured that whenever a new version of application is released the application is loaded from the server and not from the cache and at the same time data saved in the older version (in cookies) can also be accessed in the new version.
I'm having some problems inserting my ammap into my webpage. I've read through the documentation and it isn't helping. The map works with if I use the .html file in my original folder but all the paths are relative and I'm trying to make this work in an ASP.NET MVC project using visual studio. It's rather tough to explain the problem since I don't know what's wrong (no javascript or flash debugger). Here is the code that embeds the ammap:
Let me give the context first. A user opens a local html file which has a reference to a network url of an swf file to embed.
(1) If the embed swf requests a local image file , will Flash allow the request? ( 2) If the embed swf requests an image file on a non local url other than one of the swf file, will Flash check a crossdomain.xml file on the url?
This code works perfect when testing, and it works perfect viewing the SWF, but when you view the HTML file with the SWF embedded, it doesn't display the text file content.
I am trying to read a XML file and check a parameter for duplicates of that parameter in the file. There could be up to 200 entries with this parameter which is a number. How can I check to see if there are any duplicates?
I have trouble passing a variable from HTML to Flash.I use swf-object2.2.how to code the variable in the html-file and how to receive it in the as-file?Its a simple shopId = 110
I am trying to send a function to my SWF file via a HTML file, and every browser works fine except for Internet Explorer. The test file is supposed to animate the graph when you mouse over the word click, and come to a halt upon mousing off of it.Here is the example URL:[URL]
*** begin *** <script type="text/javascript"> function sendToActionScript(str) { document["accelachart"].sendToActionScript(str); }</script> <a href = "#" onmouseover="sendToActionScript('fast')" onmouseout="sendToActionScript('slow')">click</a>
[code]....
Like I said before, it works on all browsers I tested (Chrome, FireFox, Safari) except for IE (7 or 8).
I have a flash file using xml to link to html pages all within SharePoint. When I click on a link from inside flash, it opens up a new browser window with the html content. Is there a way to open the html content in the same browser that the flash file is in?
I have a task to upgrade a web site. I have a map of ND with some cities on it. I needed to add a new city to the SWF which did not seem to be hard (asuming I did it correct). The action on all the buttons for each city look like this except the name after the # is the city selected.
on (release){ getURL("locations_info.html#minot", "location_content");} In HTML code snip that controls this looked like this : <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
when I click continue shopping paypal sends me back to the swf file and not the html page is their a variable or something on paypal that directs it to send it to the html page instead
