View 1 RepliesI have been working on a project for a week and suddenly it crashed during save (nothing strange had been imported or anything i just saved after moving content around) and now i cant open my file again. I contacted adobe support who claim that since the problem is related to the file this is not their problem, what a load of HORSE ****, who should i contact about this dell if its an FLA FILE!? I have already renamed the file to flash.zip then opened with WinRar and repaired as a new zip file to a different folder (which removes the corrupt content which is document something.xml) then i tried renaming this folder back to flash.fla however the file still does not open.
View 4 RepliesI am trying to customize a video player skin from f4player [URL] [the file is mySkin.fla]). I am using flash cs3 pro and I get the error "Unexpected file format" when trying to open the file, a friend has flash cs4 and has the same error. Is there something I could do to open this .fla file correctly? Or maybe if someone could try opening it and saving it again for cs3?
View 1 RepliesI'm suddenly getting an "Unexpected file format" error on virtually every Flash CS4 file that I try to open. These are files that I created and I'm trying to open tham on the same computer on which they were created. The only thing that I can think of that has changed is that I installed some new fonts, so I deleted those, but that hasn't helped.I've tried retrieving files that I had backed up to a server, and those give me the same error. The only files that I AM able to open are 1) a test file that I created in CS4, saved, closed and reopened, and 2) files that had been created in CS3.
View 1 RepliesToday I was working on a project in Flash, I restarted my computer because when I was pasting sth. It was pasting "Hello!". After the restart, I opened Flash, It said that the "Essentials xml" couldn't be opened. So it said to go to Window>Essentials reset. I did and I was able to edit again. But before doing that, I tried to open that project, and it Said that it couldn't be found. I opened it manually but still the same. Then I closed Flash and opened it again. And when I opened the project I got : "Unexpected file format".
View 1 RepliesI have been working on a flash movie all day.I shutdown my computer and rebooted it.Now when I go to open my .fla it says "unexpected file format". I stupidly wrote all actionscript on the timeline.
View 1 RepliesWe recently upgraded to Windows 7 64Bit from Windows XP here at work, and since the upgrade i've discovered a very scary issue with Flash. When going to save one of my large projects, often Adobe simply crashes outright, freezing up and displaying a standard error message."Adobe Flash CS5 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." - with an option for "Close program"I hit close program, and Flash disappears. If I try and open that same FLA file again, I get the error messageUnfortunately it seems since Flash is crashing in the middle of saving, it is corrupting my FLA file. This is extremely worrying, since it corrupts my entire source file. Here's the details of my computer:OS: Windows 7 - Recently upgraded from 32bit Windows XPThe Flash CS5 version is 11.0.0.485The FLA in question is 10MB, and contains some large map files (gifs), lots of small JPG's as well as a fair chunk of code as well as importing of external classes. I've tried replicating the issue on smaller files, and haven't been able to do so.
View 27 RepliesI have had Flash CS5 since it came out, I have updated the program regularly. When I open Flash it gives me the Unexpected File Format Error. Even though I am not opening any files.
View 1 RepliesI receive a error when loading a .fla file from a flash template downloaded from net.nexpected file format - yet adobe flash 5.5 recognizes the file and tries to load. I'm new to adobe flash.
View 1 RepliesI was recently working on a project in Flash CS5.5 for school, last thing i did was save the project and close the program. Next time I try to open it I get an error saying "Unexpected File Format", and the application closes itself out. I can open Flash by itself and work on anything else, but when I try to open my class project it repeats the same thing "Unexpected File Format" and closes. The file was originally started IN Flash CS5.5, and has not moved to any other program since then.
View 11 RepliesLately, I've been getting an "Unexpected file format" error when tring to open a CS3 fla file that I've been working with for a couple of years. I've edited the file with the exact same app before.
View 3 Repliesi have recently been making a game in flash 8 and then a few weeks ago i got a demo for CS3, then my demo ran out and i thought that it wasnt really worth upgrading so i went back on flash 8 and tried to open the game but when i did it sed "Unexpected File Format". View 4 RepliesI'm working as a freelancer in a flash project. The project includes a list of as2 files which I need to edit and debug. I was going to do that using flash cs3 but every time I try to open an as2 file I get an "Unexpected file format" error message. The files are strictly text and (not binary), but it seems flash cs3 won't open files with a '.as2' extension (e.g.scriptfile1.as2). If I rename the file so it holds the .as extension (e.g. scriptfile1.as) then cs3 opens it fine. Unfortunately I cannot rename these files since I'm not the owner of the project, I merely make some modifications.
View 1 RepliesI was working with a FLA file when Flash suddently crashed. Then i tried opening the FLA again and i get "Unexpected File Format" error. Are my FLA file contents now forever lost? No way to recover it?
View 1 RepliesI have Flash CS4, fully legal, paid-for version. I am trying to open some old FLAs that I made, probably with Flash 8, maybe with Flash 7. When I try to open them, I get the error message "Unexpected file format," and Flash CS4 crashes! It have checked for updates online, but no luck. Most people who mention this problem are trying to open a FLA made with a newer version, using an older version.
View 5 Replieswhen the embedFonts is removed, it works perfectly as expect. Otherwise when an image is clicked, it selects the whole text around it. Alternatively can anyone suggest a method to style dynamic textfields instead of using html?
View 1 RepliesI have managed to get it to open a file browser but all I can seem to get it to do is give me the NAME of the selected file *eg. selectedFile.name* I also need the path of the file as in C:examplefile.mp3.
The program I'm making plays an MP3 of your choice at a certain time, like an alarm clock. But I got tired of entering the file path of the MP3 EACH time so I wanted to have a browse feature.
I asked this earlier but maybe I didn't give enough information. I am working on a website where video quality is very important and the client is delivering me the video already compressed. I then want to import it to flash CS3 and export it as .flv for progressive download with the media playback component. I have done all of this successfully in a sense that it all works but the video quality is not good enough, it's good but the client says it;s a bit grainy. I used the highest setting in Flash, on2 vp6 at 700kbs.
My question is what is the best file format (.mov etc) and what settings should the client use, so I can create the highest quality .flv export from their .mov file? Second question, I used an 8 second buffer but now the client is saying they don't want it to buffer at all. What are the other options besides progressive download, I have never delved into this before?
When I put dreamweaver file in a zip file for viewing on another computer, images and format are not the same when viewing in dreaweaver.

View 1 RepliesI use flash 8 to edit my projects, recently I got a website related to music downloads and it was built in flash, now when I try to edit the fla file it opens up in flash 8 but I cannot see the library and when I edit it and make some changes in it it saves but it doesnt work like the original one.

View 1 RepliesThis is a new, legal installation of Flash CS5 running on MacBook Air. Here are the file management problems I'm experiencing:
1) files are excrutiatingly slow to open, close, save, and switch between
2) I currently have a series of about 15 files open and I'm trying to close them - I click "don't save" but the files won't close - it's like I've clicked cancel. I have removed the external media these files were originally on, but if not trying to save the file, why can't Flash just close them and make them go away?
I try to open the macromedia flash 8 version flash file in the Adobe Flash CS4. At that time one "Font Mapping" window came. In that Window "The document "Name" contains one or more fonts currently not available on your system. The text will display and publish with the font mapping below".
View 5 RepliesDescription: Flash "Adobe Flash CS5 has stopped working, Windows is checking for a solution to the problem..."Files that Windows decided were important: [code]....
"Adobe Flash CS5 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." This only happens when I open this specific fla file. I've attached it to this message, (download it here: http:[url].... (I didn't know which file to send so I sent all three that seemed to be related))
I did one flash file by using Action Script 3.0. That SWF running in Vista and Windows7 systems but it not running in XP systems.
View 2 RepliesDoes anybody know why an .as file would automatically open in Dreamweaver? I can choose to open it in Flash but the default is set to Dreamweaver and I'd sure like to change that!
