How do I remove the last element in a arrow?
I have an arrow called lagers.
When I press a button I want the last element in the arrow to be removed.
I heve tried this code, but I cant figure it out.
removeMovieClip(lagers[lagers.length]);

I have an array used to track shots fired from a cannon, and when they hit the ground they are removed.
I would like to know what is the most efficient way of finding and removing a certain element from an array. I heard that using pop() instead of splice() was faster, is it ?
Also, the big question I have is that the only way I see of actually finding the element in the array is using

for(i=0;i<array.length;i++){
if(array[i] == movieClipToRemove){
//i == movieClip index in the array
}
}
Then I would use either splice() or pop() to remove it from the array before deleting the MC. Is there a better way than scanning through the whole array comparing each element to the triggering MC ?

i have items drawn my stage dynamically and information regarding them in arrays.when i remove an item from the display list:Code:a.target.graphics.clear(); then use the spliceď and index of method to locate chosen MC remove their values from specific array :Code:mcName.splice(mcName.indexOf(+mcRef.boxCount),1);Now when i remove any item which isnt the lastitem of the array, then trace all the data of the array using a loop the values appear to have corrupt? like they have lost the order in the array since one was removed?

Using a for-loop I made a grid of movieclips. But I wanted it so every second row had one less than the one above it. I thought I had that sorted when I placed an if statement in the method. However, flash still "sees" the missing movieclip. I've tried to splice the array element from it, but instead of removing it, it seems to have copied it.

I am trying to remove an element from an array by using splice like:

This works & finds the element I am looking for but it doesn't really remove the element but it will just insert a blank object instead. Am I doing something wrong here. How would I "really" remove the element, meaning that the Array would become shorter?

I am trying to remove elements form an array. The array is kind of special: content depends on what you have clicked or not:

Of course the remove function is my pb, not done yet. How can I remove the same object from the array, knowing that the array can contain several times the same object, so I do not want to delete it many times but just the good one? So the trick is to remove only the object associated with the johndoe button. Maybe the pb comes from the way I push the elements?

Here's what I'm currently doing/trying to do to accomplish my goal. But it is not removing the "row" the way I would like it too.
So, I'm making an object, then pushing it into an array. And the adding to the array part works fine and just as I expect.

But this doesnt seem to be deleting the whole row like it implies.

I know that there is no such function as getElementByName in Flex but I also now that you can do this["object_id"] to get the element of the application u're in.What about getting an element inside another element?I've tried making element["id"] ? But in my try-catch it always runs the "catch" part..how do I get an element inside another element just having it's id in dynamically created string form?

I have flash where there is a link for song download. And, at the bottom of the flash I've a count, loaded thorugh flash vars which should increment everytime donload button is hit. Please let me know what approach should i take to do that. can i call a Java method on donload button which will insert a row in the table and and then get the count and render it to the count variable in my flash?
May be this extremely confusing. Here is a very similar example on how it is done. This is actually very similar to what i want to do. [URL] on this link there is count below which increments you hit the download button.

Basically I have 14 text boxes, each box draws its content from an external txt file. Next to each text box is a button. I want the button to be either visible=true or visible=false depending on weather or not the text box has content or is "undefined" Here is what I have so far, and it's not working:[code] I would like a FOR loop to just run through the variables and check to see if any of them are undefined. if it is, then make the correct send button invisible.

when I create an element with this method :

(surely in dynamic class )
then I want to change instance name of that element.when I trace this["nodeValue"+i].name.I got a different name for that element ! f ex : instance8 .how can I get "nodeValue"+i from my element and change that .is it read only ? I want to swap tow element's instance name !

I am having a problem with my drop traget. I have the ability to drop and duplicate multiple objects on a stage. I have a clip set up (canvas) which is used for if someone drops objects onto this it duplicates the dragged clip.
However the problem I am having is that if someone tries to drop an element on top of an already drop/duplicated element, it wont duplicate the new clip. Its like it thinks that the dragged clip is not over the canvas.

I have been working on a tutorial in Flash on the topic of Flash () for two days, and I am just finishing up on a template. I have fixed five bugs, but I cannot think of how to fix this last one. I'd rather actually fix the problem this time, instead of improvising . So, here is what is going on:
I have this thing at the end where you have to enter in the code that I taught the viewer to proceed, then hit the continue button to finish the tutorial. But for some reason, whenever I try to go back with the back arrow, it does, but then I can't go forward with the forward arrow until I reach the first frame that contains actual tutorial ("page" 2). Then it works again. It seems really random, but there is [obviously] a good explanation for it. I thought it might have something to do with the fact that all of the arrows up to the "test" part, excluding the back arrow there, have the exact same instance name. However, "page" 2 is the 2nd time it is used (introduction, then the "page" 2, then 3, 4, 5, and 6, then the test part thing), so it makes less sense that it would work the 2nd time, but not the third, fourth, fifth, or sixth. And I know there's nothing wrong with the code itself:

I'm making a game for children where they have to pay money by dragging it on a square. Just wondered if I remove a parent movieclip and then set it to null, will it remove all the child movieclips within it from the Display list and also from memory, or do I need to iterate through the parent movieclip removing all its children before removing the parent?
