ActionScript 2.0 :: Resize LoadMovie Field, Not .swf?

I'm wanting to load different sized .swf into the same field and I want the field to adjust (preferably some smooth transitions for the size change) to fit the size of each different .swf loaded. I've seen it done on quite a few sites but I haven't been able to find a tutorial of any kind addressing this specifically'm keeping it simple, i.e. thumbnails with titles above or off to the side; click one; the field where the .swf will play adjusts itself; .swf loads and plays. When completed, user can click another thumbnail and the previous .swf will "unload" then the field adjusts for the new .swf and the new one loads

I am using the folling to load a game into my flash site

It works fine but I have another game which is too big in its raw state. Is it possible to scale it using actionscript so when it loads it loads with requested dimensions?

I'm working the "Battlefield 2" flashmenu.The flash is based on Flashplayer 7, however it supports png loading.Some functions on the other side are not supported.Now I need to resize a loaded .png image somehow to the parent MovieClips original size.I cannot use the MoveClipLoader class as this is not supported.So I need to stick with the loadMovie method. Then however I have the problem that the loaded image returns width and height values of 0.I think this happens since the image is not completely loaded when flash requests the values.I tried to compare getBytesLoaded() and getBytesTotal() already, these however seem to be not supported either.

i have 2 scripts that work fine on their own... but i can't figure a way to combine them.the first part resizes an 800x600 image to match the screen size:
bgHolder_mc._width=Stage.width;
bgHolder_mc._height=Stage.width/4 *3;
this works fine on its own if the image is on the stage.the other pulls a random image and loads it into bgHolder_mc:
backgrounds = new array ("background0.jpg", "background1.jpg", "background2.jpg");
function randomBackground () {
randomNumber = random (backgrounds.length);

im trying to load an swf into another swf that has a variable in the text input field. Im a designer and not a programmer but I am using this tutorial to get started in loading a form with a variables in it.[URL]..
What im doing is trying to duplicate is the text box so that when i want to load new_box.swf (with a variable name "company") into main.swf into a movieclip with an instant name "loader." using this:
on (release) { loadMovie ("new_box.swf", "_root.form.loader");}
I can get the movie to load but it loses the variable "company" in the process and when i send the form it doesnt work. If i just keep it in the main timeline it works but not when i loadMovie.

I have a dynamic text field being fed html formatted text from an external text file, and is set to autosize vertically (left), works no problem. I have an animated movie clip behind the text field for a background, so the text looks like it's inside a (animated) colored box. How do I make the background movie clip autosize (vertically) along with the text box above it?

.autoSize seems to expand itself vertically and horizontally. Is there a way to auto size it just vertically so the width remains the same and wordwrap is done?

I'm having a bit of a problem here. As per the title, my flash swf file works fine when tested from the IDE, but when I publish it and open it through the browser, the stage doesn't seem to resize along with the window.I post below a bare-bones example. The "back" movie clip should resize, only it remains at the starting dimensions

I have Buttons which I have rotated vertically within a Canvas, that is working fine. The problem occurs, when the user resizes the window to a small size a vertical scroll bar appears, I would rather have each button squashed upto a smaller size.

I have a main movie here that loads in an external swf through a container mc. everything is aligned and positioned to where it should be, and they are also set to that value onresize. the problem is, when my swf is loaded in, it works fine and is in the right position, same when you resize it. BUT, if you resize the window before the swf is loaded, it misaligns, until you resize!!

I've got a large bitmap (1920 x1306) that my client wants as a bg image, scaled to the swf size on load (930 x 575); but that can "grow" up to its original size if/when a user expands the browser window. All the rest of clips in the display list are to remain in place (except for a copyright clip, which they want to always be 14 pix above the bottom of the browser frame. I've tried loading the bitmap dynamically at full size and then using scaleX,scaleY to set it's initial smaller (930x575) size, and I've tried just setting the height/width of the dynamically loaded image using the math of scaleX,ScaleY just in case the scaleX "transformed" the bitmap so that it couldn't return to its original size. Both make the bitmap the right size. But the resize function below did nothing to it, (or the copyright.y.) THEN I tried just putting the bitmap into the display list (both sizing methods work here, too). But even as an original member of the compiled display list, the resize event is still not reaching the target. Everything I've seen on the web says this should work - but...no luck.

Trying to get a text field in my Flash MX movie to pull from and XML file with CDATA tags to show as HTML. I've checked the box to render as HTML for the text data field... but I'm having problems with the Actionscripting.
The field from this line is what I need to recognize as HTML reading CDATA tags:
this.ref["textField"+i].text = subnodes[3].firstChild.toString()
I know I need to do more than just change it to ".html" instead of ".text" and have tried a couple things, but nothing seems to work.

I am trying to use the date field component to control another field... I need the user to select a date from the date field componet this date will display in the field and an additional date in another field will then display with 280 days added. This action will also control the timeline by displaying a graphic overlay at the appropriate frame.

You can refer to the attached excel file. my boss wanted me to make a replica of it in flash. the problem is I don't kno how to do it. In the excel file he wanted some cells - in orange - be available for user to input data at same time display the data. I find it difficult to do. I don't know if it is possible to display output in an input field.

Is it possible to login through flash using one Dynamic Text Field and one Input Text Field and no buttons? If so how? I have seen many tutorials dealing with logging in to PHP using flash but it requires you to make your own php scripts which i am not familiar with. Can some one tell me how to do this with PHPBBs existing php scripts... I want to be able to login thorugh a Input Text Field box and have it verify it in PHP and also be able to register and view other PHP info such as users online and FAQ..

I'm making a calculator using Flash MX that works the same way as the basic calculator found on windows (not the scientific one). But having the user input a number, store it as a variable, store which function the user wants to perform and clear the text field then store the new input in the same text field as a different variable and multiply or add or divide or subtract the 2 numbers and getting the equals sign to display the answer when clicked is harder than I thought it would be.

I am working on a file that has a rotating dial, and I'd like the dial to reveal contents of a text field (a link) as the dial points in the direction of the text field. I have 4 text fields located at 90, 180, 270 and 360 degrees (top, bottom, left and right). I have it controlled via AS, so I've got all the Math but I was hoping someone might know how to reveal the links when the arrow (in the dial) is pointing in these directions.I set up a text field for testing, which shows the degrees, but I'm getting 'NaN' in the field (problems with Theta and converting degrees to Radians, I think). I thought this might help me figure out how to reveal those links, if I can get the NaN to work.Currently, the file is rotating with an onPress, but I'm going to convert it to a mouse follow, instead, so the user only has to float around to see the links.
