ActionScript 2.0 :: Revert To Default (in Eg. Filter Classes)?

Nov 9, 2009

I know that if you only input the first n variables, the rest will be reverted to default, but what if you only want to give the n'th variable? How can you do that? For example with the dropShadowFilter, it would be nice to be able to just define the strength and omit the other ones by using the default, since there are so many input variables to be given.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Instantiated Class Does Not Revert To Its Defaults?

Oct 13, 2007

I'm very confused. When I instantiate a class, I'm assuming that the object is reset to its default variable values. Not so. Consider this:

Code:
class ClassTest extends MovieClip{
var arr:Array = new Array();
function ClassTest(){

[Code].....

...even if the two objects have different instance names! It's as if it is making my arr variable static by default, and not resetting it to a new array in the second instance. How do I get around this? Do I need to somehow have this code instantiate itself with something like "this = new ClassTest();"

AS3 :: CS3 / CS5 Fullscreen Video Window Revert At Video End?

I have an EXE flash project that has a menu with several videos in a little player. The player has a fullscreen button that makes the video go fullscreen. When the video is over, the widescreen video is frozen on the last frame and stays there. I need the player to automatically leave widescreen mode at the end of the video and go back to the regular menu player.

I'm using AS3 to call up the videos from the menu clicks, so I'm not scared to get into code using actionscript. I just don't know what to do.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Unexpected Errors, Multiple Helper Classes, Extended Classes?

Jan 9, 2010

The examples I'll use don't do anything - they're classes without ANY members - no variables, methods, anything.

Let's say I extends Sprite and call it MySprite.

I save it in test.core

[code]...

Now I create another custom class called MyWindow that extends MySprite.

I save it in test.windows

[code]...

Then I create another class that extends MyWindows (the example I'll use is a document class - but that doesn't matter - I've tested using an instance too).

[code]...

Notice that I'm not even trying to instantiate the helper classes - just having them there throws the error.

If there is only a single helper class, everything runs fine.

Also note that - as far as I can tell - this only happens when extending one class from another package, then extending that class with more than one helper object.I'm pretty sure there's no namespace bumps or typographical errors, as this is a very pared-down version of the original application.

EDIT: seems the problem exists even without the crossing packages - even extending MySprite in the document class with multiple internal classes generates this error.

Actionscript 3 :: Inside The Library Use Of A Bunch Of Classes/packages - Expose One Of These Classes?

Feb 3, 2012

I am creating a library in AS3. Inside the library I make use of a bunch of classes/packages that need not be exposed to the end user of my lib. I want to only expose one of these classes.

I guess my questions are:

1) How are libraries commonly distributed in AS3?

2) Is there a .jar equivalent in AS3 that developers can include, but will only have access/knowledge of the classes I've declared as public?

IDE :: CS4 Can't Add Filter To Button?

Jan 5, 2011

I have imported a JPG in to my library, converted it to a button, and then I animate the button in from frames 1-30. I then stop() the animation.If I hover over the button in the preview, the cursor changes to the hand as you might expect.Now, if I double click on the instance of the button, I get to the "edit in place" screen, with the 4 frames - Up, Over, Down Hit.I'm unable to apply any filters to this button. It says the "button" is a "bitmap" in the properties.How can it be both? And what is the recommended way of doing this.It seems I can create a new instance of the button on the "up" frame and the "over" frame etc, but this seems wrong plus they all need different names so that makes no sense.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Custom Base Classes And Custom Classes

Jun 25, 2009

I've created a base class to house some basic functions I'd like to have across several movie clips in a game I'm making, however, when I link a custom class to the same movie clip I get the message; "The base class will not be used because the class specified is already defined and extends its own subclass. If you wish to use the base class, specify a class name in the Class field that will be auto-generated or enter the default base class 'flash.display.MovieClip' in the Base Class field." I removed the 'extends MovieClip' inside the Class but it still shows the message. Does this mean that I cannot use a custom class and a custom base class on a movie clip?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Removing Filter On The Fly?

Mar 15, 2006

ive attached a drop shadow filter to a mc.... but when i roll out of it i want to remove the filter effect.. ive searched livedocs and found document.removeFilter(), but i dont really understand how it works =( so heres my code:

import flash.filters.DropShadowFilter;
var myDropFilterropShadowFilter = new DropShadowFilter(35, 90, 0x9A9A9A, 5, 30, 30, 1, 50, false, false, false);

This function is added to several MC:S with a loop the result that it slows down everything

target_mc.onRollOver = function() {
var myFilters:Array = target_mc.filters;
myFilters.push(myDropFilter);
target_mc.filters = myFilters;
};

When i roll over it several times it just adds one more drop shadow object to the instance, but i suppose i can control that with some function, i will look into that next..
