ActionScript 2.0 :: Rotating Menu And Arrow Movie Clip

Apr 1, 2010

I need with a menu witch has 5 buttons moving along an ellipse. When I click on a button, I need to call an "arrow" movie clip, locate it BETWEEN the button being pressed AND center stage, and make sure it's pointing toward the middle. Much like the picture below: I've spent the whole week trying to make it work but I guess I don't know enough about AS2, or geometry to succeed on my own.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Arrow Buttons To Move Through Movie Clip On Mouseover?

May 5, 2010

I've got arrow buttons and a movie clip on my stage. I have an event listener for each arrow button for a MOUSE_OVER event that calls a handler function in my movie clip. The handler functions just call prevFrame(); or nextFrame(); What I want to happen is that the movie clip continues to play forward or backward as long as the mouse is over the appropriate arrow button.

Stage Code:

leftArrow.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, imgBar.goLeft);
rightArrow.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, imgBar.goRight);

Movie Clip Code:

function goRight(event:MouseEvent):void{
this.nextFrame();
}

[code]....

I'm not sure if MOUSE_OVER is the correct way to do this if I want the function to continue as the mouse even only happens once.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Made An Image Of Arrow And It Is Set As A Button, Not A Movie Clip

Jun 11, 2010

I made an image of an arrow and it is set as a button, not a movie clip.

I have made it so one of my scene loops, frames 65 to 85 and added a button to go to the next scene which is at frame 86.

The code I used is

on (release) {
gotoAndPlay(86) ;
}

But when ever I test the scene I get an error saying "Mouse events are permitted only for button instances".

I am using ActionScript 2.0

ActionScript 3.0 :: Movie Clip Will Not Loop When Arrow Keys Are Held Down

Oct 13, 2008

I have a movie clip of a character who is supposed to walk when the arrow keys are held down. The character does move in response to the keys being held down, but the walk cycle in the movie clip only plays once. (Flash file is attached.)

I used a Trace in the code to see what the issue is, and one thing that I noticed is that the function seems to run over and over. I'm wondering if that has something to do with it?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Ease Arrow Movie Clip To The Mouse Position When Clicked

Also, I want the arrow MC to start at a particular place. But when I put _y = 30 (for example, which is where I would want it to start from) it is still at 0,0 - even when I change _y to this._y. What the heck?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Actions On Movie Clip Inside Another Movie Clip (menu) Won't Work

May 15, 2009

I have a very simple problem but I can't find the very simple solution to it. I've create an animated menu with animated movie clips inside to work as buttons. All the main buttons work perfectely but I've got just on button with a sub-menu. On this sub-menu I've placed an invisible hitarea button in order to place some gotoAndStop action. The thing is, it seems to me like this submenu hitarea are underneath something else (even though is the seccond layers right about the actions layers). I've placed a simple trace action whenever the mouse rolls over this area but I get nothing... Am I doing something really wrong? I'm losing all my hair already.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Rotating Arrow And Circle Definition

Oct 4, 2010

I'm currently working on a school project, where we have an arrow turning 360 degree around it's own center point. In the background there's a circle, which has been splitted up in 8 parts. The actionscript is as following:

Frame 1:
var vinkel:Number = 0;

Frame 2:
import flash.media.Sound;
stop();
//En timer der opdatere hvert 1/1000 sekund
var timer:Timer = new Timer(1);
omdr_txt.text = "Omdrejninger: " + vinkel;
[Code] .....

So it randomly turns a few rounds (usually between 2 and 3 rounds). Then when it, for instance stops at 15 degrees, or 1,05 rounds, then it will automatically go to a specific frame which has been defined for that interval (radius 0-15 for instance).

ActionScript 3.0 :: Movie Clip - If The Arrow Key Is Held Down, The "gotoAndPlay(9)" Stops The Animation From Playing?

Apr 18, 2009

I have a MC called Robot. It is animated with keyframes so that my robot appears to walk. There is an Action on frame 8 that says, "gotoAndPlay(1)".When the user pushes the arrow keys, I want to MC to move in the direction of the press arrow. I also want the MC to start playing at keyframe 9 so it plays the walking animation.

This all works but with one small problem. If the arrow key is held down, the "gotoAndPlay(9)" stops the animation from playing, instead showing only the graphic that is on the 9nth keyframe.

Code:
// initialize arrow variables
var leftArrow:Boolean = false;
var rightArrow:Boolean = false;[code]....

Is there a way to call a function once and play the MC frames until the arrow key is not pressed? I think the problem I am having is that if the key is held down, the EventListener keeps running and starting the MC in the same frame instead of allowing the MC to play as I want it to.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Dynamically Placing Movie Clip At The Angle And Global Position Of A Mouse Click (button) Which Is Constantly Rotating?

Sep 23, 2009

Does anyone know the code for finding the global positioning of  X & Y co-ordinates of a click of a button which is constantly rotating, and then secondly the code for when you click on the button it  displays a movie clip on top of it -(position of x & y when clicked) at the angle that you clicked it  (so underneath the buttons are still rotating so other people can click them where they are)to explain the context, I'm trying to design a mock up of a circular interactive table when someone comes up to it and clicks on one of the buttons that are moving, it reads where the person clicked it and opens up a new box (movie clip) where they clicked it (at the angle) so its not upside down if you are at the topI've included my .fla file which shows the four buttons moving and a little diagramexplaining what I'm trying to do.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Context Menu Difficulties On Nested Movie Clip

Nov 7, 2011

I have been having some difficulties with custom context menus with CS5.5 and AS3. I have this working in 2 places: - The FLA file which I use to develop this in (I work within an FLA, but distill everything down to an AS3 based Sprite which can be instantiated via code provided the various symbols are in the library) - In an test harness. (I ensure that the Sprite can be instantiated through pure Actionscript)

The custom context menu works perfectly in both the above scenarios. However, in my main application (which is a good deal more complicated than my test harness) I see the default context menu. All other mouse events on my nested clip work perfectly.

Is there some limitation with the Context menu in AS3? My code looks fine. It pretty much corresponds to the vast majority of Context menu implementations - so feel like there is something I am missing from the bigger picture.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Dynamic Menu Creation And Duplicate Movie Clip?

Apr 25, 2005

The menu will consist of Main headings and Sub headings that will appear when the Main headings are clicked.The Headings are displayed within movie clips that are generated via duplicateMovieClip()I have attached actionscript to the timeline of a movieclip and it loads and displays the Main headings with no problem.On the one movie clip that I am duplicating, I have an on(press) action that is supposed to generate the Sub headings using the same duplicateMovieClip technique. This is where I run into trouble. I cannot get the Sub headings to generate. Can you specify duplicateMovieClip() within the on(press) function of a movieclip that was already duplicated?
